You mean like the blood and spiritual bond some new mothers towards the babies they either eventually abandon, kill or give away forreasons best known to them. That bond, right? undecided
I don't how you reason sometimes. Read your comment again, does it really make sense? You mentioned the foolishness of SOME mothers, then what do you have to say about the other beautiful mothers?

I don't want to say what's on my mind. However, this is double standards coming from Chimamanda who is a self acclaimed feminist. Is she not supposed to be a voice for women being a feminist?. Surrogacy is a form of slavery, prostitution, exploitation of a woman's body. She knew she didn't practice what she preaches, little wonder she didn't come out earlier. Like it or not, accept it or not, any baby born through surrogacy does not belong to you biologically. No matter how some states or countries might legalize it, biologically, the child isn't yours still. Well, I wish her well. But next time, stay one place, if you want to practice feminism, do it with your full chest, otherwise, commot. Reminds me of Linda Ikeji preaching abstinence but lo and behold, aunty was busy jumping on Uber to go and collect. I hate double standards.

PS; it seems some folks just want to argue for the sake of it. There's a reason she's called a Surrogate Mother
The children can belong to her biologically cause her eggs can be used , ini Edo did the same her eggs was used and the baby she had was her carbon copy

While I thought your head was on your shoulders tonight..my bad.
Tell me the agreement between you and a surrogate mother before she agreed to carry your baby and tell me if there's any difference with same agreement as in prostitution.
Biologically, a woman whose egg receives the spermatozoa is the mother of the baby. Enough said.
you don't even know shit about surrogacy..no wonder your voice loud pass... Fertilisation has already occured ... surrogacy is just about implantation of already formed embryo from the original parents... And then gestation and natality

Chimamanda understands feminism perfectly well. Feminism is about financial competition between men and women in the professional space. IT, sports, Actors, Engineers, media, politics etc... Feminism was introduced into the family by the Akata (black American lazy criminalized women), then, it was weaponized by their master of evil (Nigerian olosho tagged married women/singles - NOTMWS). Now, these NOTMWS have become a menace both in the forest and any country you take them with you. NO values, looking for different ways to bring you down, all in the name of equality and feminism. My $1 advise..."IF YOU NEVER MARRY, DODGE THEM OOO, IF YOU DON GO MARRY NOTMWS, FOCUS ON YOURSELF AND CHILDREN". If they have NOT deceitfully catch you, marry from rich homes or find way marry 120 years old oyibo..they will always give you PEACE, growth and sustainability.

She has always been subjective and lacks depth.

She's a shallow person.

It's not certain that you read through or you deliberately shut ur mind out cos of the bias u got against her. If not, you would have seen that she has a 9yr old and it's a case of secondary infertility.
You are missing the point. That she decided to go for surrogacy despite already having 1 child shows how much a woman will want children. I am not against surrogacy. My message is women will eventually want children because they are wired that way and if you leave it too late you may not be able to.

The point therefore is that despite the message they project, these independent modern women promoters marry and want children. So ordinary women should not be deceived by them because most women who chase career and forego children and family in their youth will not eventually have the success or the means to afford surrogacy.

Traditional
Gestational

This can be easily checked with Google

Both of you have half knowledge which is generally more dangerous than no knowledge
The surrogate's eggs may or may not be used
Chimamanda used her eggs, that's the point of this thread.

Just keep quiet on topics you have zero knowledge about. I give you examples to stop you from wondering and wandering.

Women
Feminism
Surrogacy
Fertility
And every other thing that relates to women.

They are all beyond your mental capacity because you are stucked and it shows in the rubbish you just posted.

Not in all situations. Some were moved to help the couples involved, some were in it because of the money, while some others even did it for tfree.

Anything can be exploited; surrogacy, not an exception. That does not mean surrogacy itself is exploitation. But rather means that there should be laws in place to prevent exploitation. 😑😑😑
It is exploitation, no need to sugarcoat surrogacy my friend

In IVF, it is your own egg that will be used but in surrogacy, it's another woman's egg.. big difference.
Some of you are very ignorant and you here to speak authoritatively on issues you have no knowledge about. In Surrogacy, you can as well use the woman's egg and the husband's sperm and it will be transferred to the surrogate mother through IVF. So, there is nothing wrong with any aspect of Assisted reproduction. Chimamanda should be commended for speaking up, it would encourage a lot of people in that condition to get a solution they need without feeling shame.

I don't see a woman like chimamanda carrying pregnancy for 9 months even if she has no issue, her ideas of life is like that of a feminists, she would never do anything to displease herself to pls a man,

I think It would have been better to seek education on the topic before coming here to say rubbish. The surrogate is not genetically related to the child, as the embryo is created using the intended parents' or donors' sperm and egg. You didn't know that? Go figure.

This just brought a thought to mind. While we congratulate the mother of the babies, shouldn't we also congratulate the surrogate for making it out of the ordeal alive and well? This isn't meant as a jab,so don't bother quoting me to say nonsense. grin
I don't think it's necessary to congratulate the surrogate, I mean, you can't be telling a woman "congratulations on renting out your womb" it's not an achievement. Like wise congratulating the surrogate mother too, is uncalled for because, she has really not done anything like carrying a pregnancy or giving birth.

My issue is her having these kids at 47. She won't be very fit for them when they're at their peak.

You can't compare surrogacy to slavery and so on. Some women do take pleasure in giving the gift of life for other women. It's not like they were forced to against their wish.

Also, it is the DNA that determines who the biological mother is. Just because a woman carried the baby in her womb for 9 months doesn't mean she's the biological mother. If the fertilized egg was from another woman, the other woman is the biological mother not the surrogate.

Prostitution is also a choice. Sometimes the less privileged are forced into doing it for the money.
You are bodly showing you don't read. You reek of ignorance and pride. Two dangerous factors that stop men from growing. The egg and sperm was for the couple. They only needed a womb to carry till birth probably because she was already advanced to carry to term.

Wow.. just seeing this now. I saw her with Trevor Noah in his podcast talking about "My Twins". I was like when did she get pregnant.

This explains it all. Nothing wrong with that at her age.

I hope and trust that Esege produced the sperm. This there relationship where he is always in the US and Chimamanda in Lagos is somehow.

Still like her. She for ask me for the sperm na.... grin.

How exactly is the renting of another woman's womb to be considered anti-gender equality? undecided

Where in the world do you get this assumption that feminists are against prostitution? Where did this particular woman tell you this of herself?🫤

Ugh, why do I even bother reading the many brain farts posted by some on here. 😩😩😩😩😩

When I go congratulating a woman after she has had her babies, I congratulate her both for finally reaching her goal of having her DNA replicated and also for making it alive through the ordeal of pregnancy. So, congratulating the surrogate, who made it through the ordeal alive, is well in order. If she had died, I would probably not be one of those sending congratulatory messages in this case, since I tend to tie both messages together. I have never once sent congratulatory messages to a man whose wife died on the table while birthing his babies. undecided
