My own concern is ; the people who destroyed their ATM card and threatened GTB after his arrest , what will they do now that GTB has not been indicted in being responsible for his arrest ?

In fact , he was staked out at 3 different GTB branch because he announced online he was going to GTB , not because GTB called for his arrest
Majority of the youths in this country ain't that intelligent
That's why these people will continue using our head, my Whatsapp status na free VDM full am

destroying your atm card means absolutely nothing, especially for GTB. you can walk into any branch and have a new card in a minute. cost was 1k last time i did it.

unfortunately we are in a post truth age, where people like share and swallow and do not ask questions, now or later. as a parent you have a duty to teach your kids critical thinking and not to lionize anyone and to be very wary of 'news' from Instagram, twitter etal, especially once the algo has hooked you

the bigger question for me - is if those free VDM demonstrations were real - who is actually funding them? and what is the end game? these days i am suspicious of 'internet personalities'

I think calling him again Fawehinmi of this generation is a bit of a stretch .

Personally I think he has a hero complex which makes him always want to “chook mouth” in almost everything ; both the things he’s knowledgeable about and the ones he’s not.

He has a whole lot of characteristics that makes it unsuitable for him to be revered to as a freedom fighter . His bias and self serving agenda is a turnoff for people who really want to take him serious .

He will be fine sha
Couldn't have described VDM any better.

Well VDM knows the stuff he is doing will be stepping on toes of many big men and corporation and these type of illegal detention wont be far from him
He is lowkey the Gani Fawehinmi of these generation and the people especially the masses trust him despite some of his choo choo choo shenanigans into some peoples personal lives

I hope in the future he doesnt soil himself by getting involved in politics
abeg no talk this thing

Gani was a trained and practicing lawyer.and he would not act without being fully cognizant of the law

this nigga is at his core a clout chaser who has gone viral.

he allegedly has a BBA from unilag which i honestly doubt

Martins Vincent Otse[2] (born 8 April 1994),[3] popularly known as VeryDarkMan, is a Nigerian revolutionary, activist, human rights activist, critic, philanthropist, and influencer who is a prominent figure in Nigerian civil and political rights.[4] A controversial figure accused of speaking ill of the country and its governance.[5] He grew up in Kaduna, Nigeria.[6]
from his wikipedia

this generation do not actually have any idea what a revolutionary is. or what it really means to live in a dictatorship. that is why they keep lionizing noisemakers whom have not actually done hard time or been at actual risk of govt assassination.

this is how you get fayose, deji adeyanju and co forming activist on social media proclaiming they are ready to be jailed by a state that does not have their time.

I think the dynamics of both dispensations are different.

While back then, dictatorship was brutal, but any revolutionary had the support of the people. They were not divided along lines of class, tribe or religion.

Today, you cannot even air your opposing view without having to scale one hurdle or the other. Nobody is rational anymore. Just go on Twitter and call out Tinubu for not tackling insecurity, and see how your fellow Nigerians, possibly suffering from the effects of insecurity, will curse you

I am not saying VDM is what we need, but in current day Nigeria, that's the best we can get.

He is the Gani in the sense that the masses trust him. I saw one video of people in Kwara whose transformer was stolen or damaged and the people were saying "Pls tag VDM to come to our aid" Most of the youth see him as a honest broker to get justice for them

He has his problems in putting his mouth in private issues and chase clout but he is the closest to the voice of the masses now

Simple and I am sure many of the masses are glad to have him.

Not all those Deji Adeyanju Isaac Fayose etc who are politicians who lost and seeking relevance

Gani in his time had the trust of the masses, Today, Who else has the trust of the masses like VDM? All the Endsars activists have been exposed to be in it for the money or just turned to politicians lackeys

You must respect VDM

He is a disciplined man and that shows in his physique

His ill-disciplined tongue is purposeful in order to gain social media following and it is working

He is in his own lane, not showing off, but was streaming from his humble abode for a long time, sometimes tackling social issues, sometimes shock-jocking, but you can't deny it has been effective

One beautiful thing about oppression in Nigeria? It’s turn by turn entertainment. If you cheer it on today, just wait your own round is loading, no matter how long it takes. Nobody escapes.
Back when VDM and his minions were harassing Bob like it was their 9 to 5, we called it out. But people were too drunk on hate to listen. Now the table don rotate, and suddenly, everyone’s crying foul. E go touch everybody. Keep clapping for injustice, your backstage pass is guaranteed. cheesy

He might have his bagages but like raum said the people trust him to help them and not chasing clout like you said

You think if he was a chronic clout chaser, he’ll have that following that believes once he steps in, he’ll be the ladder through which justice can be served by him calling out the necessary people involved?

I no really send am cause of how he pry in some personal matter but truth be told, that guy is trying

He is actually a chronic clout chaser.

Nigerians generally like the thought of having a Messiah-like figure whom they can lay at his feet all their supplications.

There’s a law saying that says he who comes to equity must come with clean hands . The person u think is fighting for justice literally defames others with reckless abandon. He says a whole lot of things he has no proof of and thinks the world works like that .

He may have helped some people to recover funds here and there , but that doesn’t make him Gani Fawehinmi of this generation all of a sudden .

VDM is nothing but a clout chaser and the average Nigerian is gullible.
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 6:14pm On May 06, 2025
I saw this news about a political group calling on Tinubu and the AGF to stop LG chairmen from contesting for 3rd term.

I know it’s a matter of law and it is not something Tinubu and the AGF can stop or allow to continue , but it got me thinking .

It got me thinking that since the 3 levels of government are the federal , state and LGA ; why is it that the law limits the president and governors to two terms while the LGA chairmen are allowed to rule as long as they can continue to win the sham of LGA elections ?

Why can’t we have laws in place limiting LGA chairmen time in office to two terms like it’s done at the federal and state government ?

Labeling VDM a clout chaser doesn’t erase the positive impact he’s made or the genuine goodwill he enjoys from ordinary Nigerians.

Tell me, which other Nigerian internet personality will launch an NGO and raise over N70 million in 24 hours, with the bulk of donations coming from ordinary Nigerians contributing their modest 5k, 10k, 20k? That speaks to the belief people have in him and what he represents. It’s the same reason many posted Free VDM on their socials and were willing to boycott and cancel GTBank.

Personally, I’m indifferent to him but I can objectively admit that despite his theatrics, he’s been a force for good in several ways.

Why is Nnamdi Kanu still wasting money on court cases or the lawyers don't charge him? It's obvious even to the blind that the FG has no intention of letting him go. From all indications, only a president from the SE will free him.

Nothing is impossible but I doubt.

Remember when he got that 100m donation to his NGO, he cried out and posted it online, afraid that someone was trying to use the NGO to launder funds. He even tagged EFCC to investigate and unmask the donor in that video until Don Jazzy revealed it was from him.

Someone who is well aware his NGO can be a conduit for cleaning illicit funds will not engage in such.

Same with me.

One guy was discussing with me how one of his friend in Naija did a business with someone and didnt deliver, The other party approached EFCC and they told him the amount involved did not meet threshold for EFCC involvement, some officers were even trying to job him. One said he should go to SFU (Special Fraud Unit) and just giving him run around.
He later threatened that he will report the case to VDM. Which got the debtor guy panicking and he had to settle the debt or reach an agreement

For now a sizable number people prefer to settle their matter through VDM than go meet Police, EFCC or any other person

January 20, 2025 marks a significant chapter in the journey of the Foundation for Investigative Journalism and Social Justice (FIJ). Four years ago, the purpose was clear: to expose the truth, fight for justice, be a voice to the voiceless and hold the powerful to account.

What began as an ambitious vision has grown into tangible impact, including the recovery of funds for ordinary Nigerians.

In our first year, we recovered N16,668,674, addressing cases such as undelivered services, fraudulent investments and exploitative business practices. By the second year, this figure soared to N30,292,361, and in our third year, we surpassed expectations with a record-breaking N79,618,559.

Now in its fourth year, FIJ has made an additional N65,148,805.297 in recoveries for defenceless Nigerians, bringing the total to an astounding N192,488,899.297 over four years — all returned to victims without taking a single kobo in exchange.

Here are just 10 from the multitude of fund recoveries from the last year:
