Before I got a menial job which I'm currently working on till date, I have stayed unemployed for 10 years.

So, at that time my family became really worried about me and they were anxious. My mother died in this horrible time in my life, and my father out of desperation paid the sum of 800,000 to this guy to help get me a job in a any federal establishment.

August will make it one year since my family paid that money and the only thing we are getting is excuses upon excuses from the guy.

Please guys, is it too early to press the panic button or do you think we are already scammed by this guy?

I think you should do something about your life. I can spot the spirit of mental laziness in you. Must you work in an organization or federal govt? You are lazy in your mind. And about the 800k you wasted, Yes, you have been scammed. Wake up and do something about your destiny. Locate Jesus first, I do not mean going to Church, I mean locate Jesus Christ first. Go and start ready books like Think and Grow Rich, etc. Thank me later.

However, talk to the person first, ask him for a refund.
Do not take further action if he's known to be violent, abeg.

Report the person to the EFCC for collecting money to get federal job for you, and tell your father to surrender himself also to police/EFCC for giving bribe for someone to get you job. Submit also yourself to correctional center for inability to get that money from your father and turn your fortune around for better by starting small. All you life is tied on getting federal job, so you failed to get right skill for plan B. All of you have case to answer!

Sorry but if you have to pay any money to get any job anywhere in the world, the possibility you are being scammed is higher than 50% and more like 90% in Nigeria.

EFCC does not take cases below a certain threshold. N5m or so.

I agree with you sis but I used to think like dis until I discover say most Nigerians are very very ignorant.
The most important book in Nigeria is the constitution and the penal code.
I can tell you confidently that 95% of people on nairaland have never ever read a single page in it and will never do unless you pay them to read it.

So when we dey drop advice, no be to educate that future prisoner but to educate everybody including the ones wey dey plan tomorrow morning to escort somebody - whether friend or family to Police for any case wey dem no be material witness to.
The escort you need is your lawyer.
But for dis bribery case, even with lawyer, he will leave the court a convict and be given a sentence with an option of fine, avoiding jail as a worst case scenario plus still forfeit the bribe money to Tinubu.

You guys have been scammed long ago even before you start seeing it as a scam

You can report him to the EFCC and they will go after him

He may go to jail for that and that's enough punishment for him even if you didn't get your money back

I swear bro, I dnt know why people are addicted to 9 to 5, with that 800K, OP would have learnt Mobile app Dev or Web dev, get a good lappy and go on Upwork to work and get paid in USD.
