A viral post on social media has stirred widespread debate after a Nigerian man based in the United Kingdom was reportedly handed a wedding expense list totalling ₦21,570,000 by his fiancée’s family in Nigeria

The controversial list was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @HOLARMEEDEY1, who expressed outrage over what he described as an exploitative demand placed on an immigrant who had only recently relocated to the UK less than two years ago.

“You reach UK e never reach 2yrs. You are not from a rich family. And your potential wife is not from a rich family either. But e reach time for wedding your in-laws are giving you quote that want to unalive you and you cannot refuse,” he captioned the list.

The list reportedly included over ₦5 million for the event hall alone, alongside other substantial expenses. According to the post, the groom-to-be was also expected to buy the bride’s wedding gown and foot the bill for her parents’ outfits, with no financial contribution from the bride’s family.

It looks as if this list was gotten from an event planner . Some families can be so greedy, they know their daughter isn't qualified for bride price to be paid on her according to tradition, but they will still demand bride price. Only virgins bring bride price to their families. None virgins are supposed to be given free of charge to men. The reason is because men no longer demand for their rights from prospective in-laws because of civilization
