one of the most dumb thing I have read today.
So, you expect students to do well in JAMB with people like you around them? Is your life motivating anyone right now? You're a significant contributor to the mass failure. The fact that you can't recognise this fact makes your case even worse than the students cheesy

Obvious factors are :
Private schools are at the helm of affairs helping students with how exam malpractice could be achieved.
Students lack of enthusiasm towards studies.

1. Dwindling standard of education due to indifference attitude of the government

2. Laxity of students who mostly relay on examination malpractice to pass any examination.

3. Ignorance of the use of computer

Jargon, how? Isn't what you bolded a solution I proposed? Is asking the government to conduct a study on the matter not a solution?

Wow.
I could only see grammar and not solutions.

Minister said, the teachers, principals, proprietors and students, even parents are all involved in this hydra-headed examination malpractices,.....yet you are saying, your own solution is to ask the same people they said are involved in the cheating for comprehensive solutions/opinions/advice,

which analysis/ survey those that are ganging up to do malpractices want to give govt? when they, themselves are part of the problems.

The reason for the mass failure is attributed to the poor standard of education in Nigeria. Parents in the other hand do not help matters. This statistics is very poor.

The JAMB results aren't just about
academics, they reflect deeper systemic
issues. Outdated curriculum, uninspired
learners, underpaid teachers, societal
pressure and neglect.

It is understandable that the factors contributing to mass failure of this kind can be multi-factorial;

-1). Student. Natural Illness, Fatigue, Mental laziness, Effects of Digital Technology( phones, Internet etc ).
-2). Parental: Preference of courses which the students does not have natural endowments, forcing wards to choose tertiary institutions that are highly competitive etc
-3). Exam Bodies. Examination logistics( timing, exam centers, transportation issues, malfunctioning CBT computers,
-4). Miscellaneous. Get-Rich-Quick Syndrome,
This list is incomplete without the inclusion of poor diet. APC is the reason for the mass failure. Nobody can fight hunger and algebra at the same time. Nigerians can't afford a balanced diet anymore and the brain needs fuel. No food, no focus, low energy, weak memory, poor attention span. If Iron, B-vitamins, and omega-3 are missing, your brain will show it. Feed the brain, or it will fail you.

Before the introduction of evening lessons and holiday (summer) lessons, Nigerian people used standard six to excel locally and internationally.

The more the ill culture of those "lessons" dominate the country, the higher the rate of exam failure.

They start the lessons from kindergarten level and continue till SS3. Yet, they can't pass any serious exam without malpractice. What then is the academic benefit of the lessons? I think that the only benefit of such lessons is that they keep children away from home, giving parents time for work and businesses.

I had school set mates that started such lessons from SS1 and continued till SS3. They were the ones that ran to questionable centers for WAEC and NECO.

Another factor is private schools. A public school that has dilapidated buildings is better than many private schools. But people think that every private school is credible. JAMB should begin to announce the number of candidates that come from public schools. The announcement will reveal what many people don't know.

Yet, they are busy shifting the blame to smart gadgets and social media.
Add that the government was expected to help the students write the exams for this lazy generations.
After all we always blame government for everything that went wrong in the country.
Too much social activities, especially the private schools.
Awon olodo oshi.

What is responsible for the mass failure is because there are better, smarter ways to detect and prevent cheating. I hope all Nigerian exams are eventually structured to make cheating virtually impossible. We have the technology; all that’s needed is the willpower to use it.

When we reward merit and hard work, society as a whole benefits. We’ll see fewer incompetent individuals in critical roles. Incompetence breeds corruption, so building exam systems that minimize cheating is a vital first step in our fight against corruption.

See, malpractice isn't the only reason people fail exams. Let me just put this out here.

Only way to fully understand the cause of the issue is to conduct a research into our education system and identify problems.....exam malpractices and other acts of corruption are just two out many. This is my point, and a solid solution to the matter.

In fact, is the minister sure that the students are well taught? Is he certain that students have standard labs and computer gadgets to prepare for these exams?

You see that only a thorough look into this matter by way of a standardized research would truly reveal the root cause of this problem.

Re: What Are The Factors Responsible For Mass Failure In 2025 UTME by nairalanda1(m): 2:11pm On May 07, 2025
Not enough libraries.

The simple fact is most students don't have a good enough place to study. Yes, I used to say that if one could study anywhere, you go make am, but to study for exam, you need somewhere well lit and quiet to study...and because poverty, most houses don;t have that.

But our libraries are basically....awful or non existent.

Also, majority of students don't know how to use IT. At the end of the day, that makes taking the exam even more difficult.

Finally, you need special preparation to take JAMB. JAMB way of asking questions is not like your school exam or WAEC exam.

The question should be: Why do Nigerians thrive and achieve remarkable success in research and education abroad, while Nigeria’s domestic systems seem systematically failing to nurture youth potential—often appearing structured to discourage innovation and growth rather than empower it?

Absolutely true! So also are those who forged certificates, get honourable univ. awards based on corruption etc.

This is an unfair statement to say. Why not narrow youself to JAMB.
After cheating, they enter government and start ruling and ruining the country.

LegallyBlunt:
tongue

Firstly, JAMB as a body has outlived its usefulness. Imagine declaring billions in profit every year without actually benefiting students education-wise.

Secondly, there's more emphasis as a society on money and financial gains, meaning education immediately takes a back seat. Go online or offline, and the culture of yahoo, hookup, and get-rich-quick dominates EVERY conversation. So many of the candidates already perceive school as scam.

Thirdly, most candidates aren't after education to better their lives or learn. They see being in higher institutions as a status symbol, probably to further their nefarious activities like joining bad gangs and sleeping around.

Fourth, JAMB has become increasingly disorganized. Why should I arrive at a center as early as 6:30am. For what exactly? They can do better.

Fifth, this generation is distracted by so many things, including insecurity, real hunger, to mention a few. The goal now is to eat at least twice a day. Many of these candidates are their own bread winners or doing same for families. Now imagine all that stress and you're expected to read. How you wan do am?

I've got more but FREE VDM FIRST!

What no one is talking about is the fact that our education system has finally collapsed. Successive governments have failed to invest properly in education. Unfortunately, this government is no exception, and must take responsibility for this failure as well. The other factor is the rapidly deteriorating moral fabric of Nigerian society.

There has been a complete shift in the value system, where education, hitherto seen as the key to a decent life, has taken a back seat. Who has not heard “who needs school”?

The government needs to restructure and effectively fund the Nigerian school system. If this is done, students and pupils will score relatively high, even if the exams are conducted in a military barracks.

Social media has practically destroy their lives. During our dsys nothing like andriod phone not to talk of social media. We only go to cafe to check our mails and yahoo mails.

Parents follow their children to examination centre which during our time parents dont do that.

To think this generation have access to educational YouTube channels.

Our time, we didn't have access to all these. Five hours daily devotions to educational YouTube channels, three months before the exams will make you breeze past jamb questions.

Leave TikTok and Instagram, three months before your exam and you'll know how much distraction those apps are.
After exams, you can always go back to them. They won't go anywhere in your absence.
