Most book adaptations end up being poor shadows of the originals.

The only movie adaptations that i feel were worthy representations of the originals were L.O.T.R and the Godfather trilogies.

Game of Thrones (latter seasons especially) doesn’t even get near to rendering how complex and intricate the plot is

hannibal is the first movie i can say that was clearly better than the book. the book was s**t

the mist movie is a 90% faithful rendering of the novella by stephen king - but the ending was craaaaayyy

the godfather series always rubbed me the wrong way because for me, in the end, they are romanticizing crime

at least in Goodfellas you see actual consequences. by the time you get to the last don - technically not in the series, the mafia are literally heroes

I don't think any movie adaptation can be better than that imagery that floods your mind when you read the book.

The GF movies were very good but the novel trumps the movies.

I disagree. Imagery is important when it comes to storytelling, but it is not everything. The acting of Marlon Brando and Al Pacino for instance can't be replicated on print. The background soundtrack of the movie and the emotions it triggers when watching it can't be transmitted through a novel.

The only way you can say The Godfather novel is better than the movie is if you are FAR more bibliophile than you are a cinephile.

Kanye sang shit lyrics praising Hitler and they want to be moral beacons and lyrical content judges gatekeeping what lyrics are offensive or not.

Shalli-whoever and his likes sing about all sorts of vices (including violence) and no uproar from them; Kanye up-thumbs racism and it's suddenly a problem.

You don't get to cherry-pick, folks. The lyrics shouldn't matter in some instances - it should either matter completely or never matter.

Dawg, even the Typeface used for the movie title was iconic. The black and white with a tint of red already sets the tone for the story.

The movie was a masterpiece by Coppolla
