No you actually did enjoy it..your fuel was subsidised for many years.

Your education is still being subsidised up till today.

Your electricity is being subsidised for up to 80% of the country that is not on band A.

Just to mention a few

Cost of living is so high. The cost of living in Nigeria is presently one of the highest in Africa.
Your statistics for this. Please use WB or IMF data.

You prefer the country to be in debt as far as you buy fuel for 200 naira. A very bad citizen who prefers to eat his tomorrow today
He has no more tomorrow in the first place.

Every Nation owes debt .
Even USA is indebted to trillions of dollars in debt.
if the money borrowed are used for lifting the lives of the citizenry rather than lining the pockets of politicians that isn't a problem .

It's two years already.
When will the 2moro come?
If things dont become easy by 2027, people will vote out Tinubu.
4yrs is enough to show us that he knows what he is doing.
I spend 20k on electricity every month, with just fan, AC, fridge and three bulbs.
I know how hard it is to live.
Is that why he should continue borrowing to pay fuel subsidy ? Is that why we should continue operating multiple exchange rate and selling our crude in advance to maintain the forex regime? These are the problems previous presidents couldn't summon courage to solve. May Tinubu succeed, may God bless Nigeria forever

richmond500:
I use it on management too.
As for AC, I only put it on for like 30mins a day.
5mins every hour.

I don't even watch tv,
as for my fridge, I on it only for around 7hours daily
I used generator from 5am till 8am and 7pm till 12am everyday before subsidy removal. My household sell cold drinks and offer free charging points to our teaming customers and friends.
After the removal of subsidy I cancelled morning usage of generator. Then I invested in Solar energy. It's cost saving and I can say I enjoy 24 hrs light everyday.
My advice: go solar if u have capacity. One can do it gradually.

Putindbutt:
Lol, Argentina is cutting cost of governce by sacking civil servants. If Tinubu started sacking workers to reduce cost, it is wailers like you that will still open mouth like goat wailing.

My salary was also subsidized. I mean minimum wage should be above 200k back then and so they wouldn't have needed subsidizing in the first place. Electricity that we hardly have? Education that is not top notch? Don't let them deceive you, whatever you paid for the little light you get and the education you got in those days are worth it because they offered non quality education. Now that we pay for everything through our noses, the quality still doesn't increase, therefore we have been scammed.

1Alex:
What and what are currently subsidised in Nigeria today?
Public education and health care are heavily subsidised too in Nigeria.

We have had a lot of ineffective leaders, some of them may have been wicked. But we must never lose sight of the benefits we enjoy from the government.

The reason a number of these benefits are not visible is because of the attitude of an average government worker. Public primary, secondary school teachers and lecturers don't want to go to class; they will gang up and start exploiting the students. Most of the funds they take from you from primary school to the end of your first degree don't go to the government. Many of these teachers will rather go and set up another business while keeping the government jobs, the University lecturers will take up jobs in neighbouring private schools and starve the students admitted to the government schools. They come back and just fix classes whenever they feel like it.

Moreover medical practitioners in government owned hospitals have their own private clinics where they attend to people. Often times, they don't do their best in the government owned institutions before referring patients to their own.

Although many will argue that the cost of goods and services are surging and these folks need to meet up because of poor pay, but it should be noted that the same greed in the average Nigerian makes this happen. People are quick to raise the prices of goods and services as soon as they hear news, but will refuse to bring it down if circumstances change. Where forced to bring it down, they will mourn.

Unfortunately, if the government begins a crackdown on these unfortunate trend, many of us will come out to shout "anti-human practices" and make the government of the day unpopular. Eventually the sharks (other politicians waiting) will ride on the ignorance of the "masses" to get to power without any solid plan to put things in order.

I will conclude by saying this, you may not like the person in helms of affairs today, but take your time and look at the other side of his actions. Ask anyone coming out today what they will do if they should get elected in 2027. Things are tough right now because the economy was restarted and repositioned in my view. I believe the pains are in the short term, in the medium to long term, if we don't go back like we did with Yaradua when he had to reverse the sale of the refineries, things will improve. Regarding the cost of fuel et al, it won't matter if it becomes affordable. South Korean Won is just about the equivalent of the Naira, yet an average person can afford a quality life there.

IMF Debt: Your query notes Nigeria has paid off its IMF debt. While no specific 2025 confirmation is provided in the sources, the IMF’s outstanding amount was $1.25 billion as of September 2024. Assuming this is cleared, it is not included here.

Summary of Unpaid External Debts:

World Bank Group: $17.32 billion

African Development Bank Group: $3.20 billion

Exim Bank of China: $4.97 billion

Agence Française de Développement: $641.1 million.
