I gave farming a trial, I planted corn,
Lost the whole farm to fulani cows.

Nigeria is one yeye place, people go to farm and steal products before you harvest.. the mindset is upside down, Government sef fit open border before your cycle is over, what is the sense in wasting your resources and time when there's no profitablity.
so you'd rather starve than protect your farm

You think oujnbo didn't steal from their farms at the beginning

Nigerians should be sincere to themselves.

Must the government always borrowed to feed the populace.

Take a stroll to expensive restaurant and see how people dey eat expensive food.. And amazingly those places are full to the brim
That's not the issue here, there's nothing on earth that can stop people from eating and doing fine

But the question is the ratio at which things get skyrocketed and that is making many people go broke easily these days

Formerly, you could get a well decent meal for #500 in most restaurants, but today, no where you can get a satisfying meal less than 2k in Nigeria

Of course people would buy it, but do you really think they won't complain??

You get time to dey reply zombie oooo.
Angelfrost:
Productive?!! How?!!

Over 30 farmers have been slaughtered and their farms seized by Herdsmen this year alone... Not counting the hundreds afraid to go to their farms, or several others whose crops have been destroyed.

How do you get more productive when you are not secure?!!

The major issues facing Nigeria come down to the gross failure of the nation's leadership to totally tackle Insecurity and Corruption.

We need to stop pretending like we don't know these things... Or don't know what needs to be done.

Visit the former food producing states like Benue, Borno, Katsina, even Agbor in Delta State, many farmers have abandoned their farms in fear... Some have been murdered in cold blood.

One who defended himself and killed a herdsmen in the process was sentenced speedily to death by a judge just last 2 months...!

Do you see what I am talking about?!!

Shall we talk about the power supply issues?!! Lack of mobilisation and empowerment of food producers?!!

Bad Leadership is worse than cancer.

A nation that is resource rich and not at war is having such shameful hunger and poverty stats!

If I were the President of this nation, I would be ashamed to move about. undecided

Babangidapikin:
When people are hungry before, people go 001 or 100 or 010 but now it's 100000001, the number is widening especially for older people because Government refuse to provide social welfare and people without jobs because no spare cash anymore to give anyone. The Government should ensure a holistic social welfare package for people above 70 and people with disabilities across board. So our elderly will stop fasting every now and then.
The problem most often is the cost. FG is broke. In addition, most will be stolen.

What is important is for government should push economic policies that will yield a minimum of 7% economic growth yearly. This will create jobs and start putting money into people's pockets. Wealth is the best antidote to hunger.

FG must also focus on family planning, encouraging parents to stop at two. India's and Bangladesh have population growth rates per year of 1% while Nigeria is around 2.5%. This ridiculous and unsustainable and simply increases makes it costly to provide social services to the citizens. Half of Nigeria's population is under 20.

People that earn in usdt or people that are been sent money in dollars I don't think they would have problem with dollars.. nope. So many people are hungry in Nigeria while many people are not hungry is just like abroad where you will always find poor people.

Yes.

Some people are hungry.

Some are hungry for power. Reason they are talking about coalition without telling us what they'd do to move the country forward.

Some are hungry to demarket Nigeria.

Some are hungry to talk about multidimensional poverty.

Some are hungry to compare Nigeria to China, Indonesia and Brazil, as if those countries would tolerate half of what they do in Nigeria.

Some are hungry to manufacture dubious statistics.

Some are hungry to find negativity in every positive stride the country makes.

Some are hungry to make allegations and cry victim when asked for evidence.

The hunger is self-serving.

I find the statistics used to reach the conclusion on hunger rates questionable. If we take a census of money outside the formal sector, we'd find that some of the statistics are estimates without measurable yardsticks on data acquisition. You say some Nigerians are living on less than 1 dollar per day. How is that a measure of poverty?

If Nigeria is as bad as some people paint it, no one would be asking people to protest. They'd do it organically.
Them suppose to beat una for this forum.

There are people who benefit from chaos, suffering and pain of others. You seem to be one of them...

The crippling Socio-economic realities of the masses stare you in the face daily, but you chose to mock those who cry for things to improve.

One day, the tables will turn...
