Yes
Re: should Nigeria Accept Repatriation Compensation From The West? by malali: 6:22am On May 09, 2025
The west wont pay......MKO Abiola died (Unalived) on the reparation mandate.

The west thrives on making Africa poorer than they are.

Zuckerberg(META), Elon Musk(Star-link) all don't want to pay tax in Nigeria. Meanwhile you cant escape taxes in America if you do business there......

We have to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps..... First and foremost by stamping out looting of public funds and corruption in government.

The west should look for a project and hire contractors and supervise the project themselves.... Don't give any politician d money.... If not the money will end up in foreign banks where it came from after they've looted it

We are not looking for repatriation compensation. We are looking for them to come and loot humans now. Let the slave trade start again. Let them berth their ships. We will walk into it gladly.

Normally the state of the people in a country will make the investors cringe on whether to pay or not. They are seeing it that Naija has a lot to lose so why should I pay. Imagine the Government are doing what they are supposed to do and the little we get is being utilized properly, it is even the citizens that will point to government where to draw money from cos they are enjoying the dividend.

Anytime our politicians want to fly babes to dubai, abeg , the west should release funds for them cos that's what the funds are being used for.

Should Nigeria also pay reparations to the west for the people captured by the kings of the time and sold into slavery?
Re: should Nigeria Accept Repatriation Compensation From The West? by sulaak(m): 6:57am On May 09, 2025
Nigeria must thank the West. Without colonisation, there will still be nationwide slavery, ritual killing and poverty, which have returned since the West has left.

Nigeria should pay reparations to the West for providing governance, education and health care technology.

The second largest country with slaves in the world was the Sokoto Caliphate in the 1860s. That's why the Hausa people are the majority of beggars today. The South (Lagos, Calabar, Opobo) had to be bombed by the British Navy to stop slavery.
Re: should Nigeria Accept Repatriation Compensation From The West? by nairavision:
Nigeria, like many African nations, was subjected to centuries of colonial exploitation, including resource extraction, forced labor, and cultural disruption by Western powers (e.g., Britain). Compensation could be seen as a form of reparative justice for these historical wrongs. And it has Economic Benefits:
Repatriation compensation could provide significant financial resources to address Nigeria’s developmental challenges, such as infrastructure deficits, healthcare, and education.

But, there is a concern, compensation funds would be mismanaged or siphoned off by corrupt officials, and this is a persistent issue in Nigeria’s governance.

Should we not be the ones to first pay the descendants of those we sold first before asking the Arabs and whites to pay the balance of what we felt was fair value when we sold their ancestros as slaves for tobacco, alcohol, umbrellas, mirrors etc?

The sad part is how we insisted to continue the criminal trade after the whites had a change of heart through William Wilberforce's advocacy.

The often cited biography titled Madame Tinubu: Merchant and King-maker, authored by Nigerian historian Oladipo Yemitan, paints her views regarding slave trading.

On one occasion, during her final sojourn in Abeokuta, she was alleged to have sold a young boy into slavery and was accused of it. When arraigned before Ogundipe Alatise over the matter, she reportedly explained: 'I have a large house-hold and I must feed them well. I need money to do that, that's why'.

— Oladipo. Yemitan, 'Madame Tinubu: Merchant and King-maker'

Another section of Yemitan's Tinubu biography, referred to as the Amadie-Ojo Affair, captures a slave trading deal gone sour in 1853 (notably after the 1852 Treaty abolishing slavery in Lagos) wherein Tinubu tells another slave trader (Domingo Martinez) that "she would rather drown the slaves [20 in number] than sell them at a discount".

This is not just the bitter truth, it is the sad reality as we do voluntary slavery, called japa and brag about being diasporans working to make the Arab and oyinbo places even better than ours.

This is in addition to our leaders looters in the public and private sectors stashing resources that should develop our continent in Arab and oyinbo places.

Neo-black Problem: Must Blacks Be Ruled by Whites in Order to Prosper?

In short, the neo-black dilemma may be framed as follows: is it better to live under white rule without political dignity but with basic life-sustaining standards for many;

or to live under black rule with illusory political dignity and without basic life- sustaining standards for the majority?

The path forward for Africa lies in cultivating higher and adequate levels of personal and communal agential integrity as well as full personal responsibility and productivity. Not to mention creativity (including epistemic creativity), productive justice (such as merit and freedom), harmony and reconciliation at local and international levels, and a proper domestication of capitalism and other related values and institutions.

Africa must stop wasting her time on dreams of socialism because it is a system of wealth distribution primarily. Whereas, capitalism is a system of wealth creation primarily, and wealth has to be produced before it can be distributed.

Never!
They should not accept it, because it will be useless to Nigerians. Politicians will loot the money.

What am I even saying....If I say they should not accept it because of the fear of the looting the money, is it not the same Politicians in power that will approve the acceptance in the first place.

Nigeria is irredeemably corrupt. Nothing can save us, not even Peter Obi because the institutions and instruments of state is already rotten in corruption.
