It doesn't mean they can't be voted for. Even an 100 year old Catholic male can become a pope.

Although, the chances of the College of Cardinals voting for a 92-year-old man is very, very slim.

There is nothing occultic about it.

It is a secret ballot.

The Cardinals eligible to vote simply write the name of the person they went as pope and then drop it at the altar.

At the end of voting, the votes are counted. If there is no 2/3 majority, the ballot papers are burnt with a chemical to produce black smoke.

Then, they would have another round of voting. If they eventually get a 2/3 majority, the ballot papers are burnt with a chemical to produce white smoke.

The white smoke signifies that a pope has been elected.

The elected person accepts his role as pope, he is dressed up and he is taken to the balcony.

Simple!
