President Bola Tinubu has nominated Madam Usoro Offiong Akpabio, a well-known politician and strategist from Akwa Ibom State, as the Managing Director of the newly created South South Development Commission (SSDC), News360 Nigeria reports.

In the same move, the President also picked former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche from Rivers State, to serve as the Chairman of the Commission.

The nominations were announced in a letter sent by the President to the Senate, which was read during Thursday’s plenary session by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

The nominees include;

• Hon. Chibudom Nwuche (Rivers) – Chairman

• Usoro Offiong Akpabio (Akwa Ibom) – Managing Director/CEO

• Rt. Hon. Larry Odey (Cross River) – Member

• Charles Zuofa (Bayelsa) – Member

• Dr. Nkereuwem Ebong (Akwa Ibom) – Member

• Engr. Chika Chinedu (Rivers) – Member

• Barrister Femi Oise (Edo) – Member

• Dr. Charles Sylvester Enukhowhate (Delta) – Member

• Tijani Yahaya Kaura (North-West) – Member

• Tabitha Iliya Sallah (North-East) – Member

• Alh. Yusuf Rasaq Amao (North-Central) – Member

• Joseph Mmamal (South-East) – Member

• Hon. Bukonla Braimoh (South-West) – Member

• Hon. Marcus Nie Eji (Rivers) – Executive Director, Projects

• Engr. Aganaba Preye Steven (Bayelsa) – Executive Director, Social & Human Capital Development

• Dr. Timi Alari Ayibatonye (Delta) – Executive Director, Corporate Services

• Hon. Joseph Ugheoke (Edo) – Executive Director, Commercial & Environmental Development

• Ambassador Sony Abang (Cross River) – Executive Director, Finance

The Senate has referred the list to the appropriate Committee, which is expected to submit its report within one week.
