Eating out may or may not be cheaper but it is not healthier.

What makes takeaways and eating out appealing to our taste buds can actually shorten our lifespan on the LONG RUN because Takeaways are laden with too much salt and Mono sodium glutamate (Msg or Ajinomoto) to give them the appealing taste and the oils used in take away food can be unhealthy, particularly if they are high in omega-6 fatty acids and are heated to high temperatures.

These oils, like soybean, corn, canola, sunflower, and safflower oil, can become unstable and form harmful compounds when heated, and are often part of processed foods that may be high in other unhealthy ingredients.

Also, you can not always vouch for the hygiene standards of the workers at the takeaway joints or their source of water supply.

Cooking for yourself at home means you can always vouch for every ingredient you put in your food plus the water supply and hygiene standard.

Eating outside will always be more expensive, na ona know wetin ona dey talk. No be because you buy plate of food 1500 you go come carry compare pot of food way you for eat 3 or more times

Cooking at home cost me 18K weekly as a single guy, well feed.
But minimal feeding outside cost me ₦3,500 daily which sums up to ₦24,500 weekly.

Dude I was once like you untill I learnt how to cook. I cook different kinds of food for my consumption. Girls no fit form trash for me as long as cooking is concern. And where in my post did I say I don't know how to cook.. actually I can even make pounded yam. The problem is I don't know how to bargain at the market.. so why ask someone to help to stock up on food stuffs and not let them finish the cooking.. every other days, I cook myself..

So if you spend 5k to cook at home, you finish the food at a go? I am not understanding this..

Because I know whenever I eat out, I spend nothing less than 3500 to 4k eating Amala and ogunfe but whenever I have someone come cook for me, I spend at least 6-10k to get the dishes ready and it takes me nothing less than 3-5 days before I finish it.

This thread has a lot of contradictory comments. It would have been BETTER for each poster to state his or her location. Location determines how expensive or cheap food is.

Someone mention right on Page 1 about eating cheaper outside in Jos and that makes sense because of location. But eating out in the big Southern cities such as Lagos, PH, etc, would be more expensive. Even in Lagos State, the cost of eating out on Lagos Mainland is relatively cheaper than eating on Ikoyi Island, Victoria Island or the Lekki Peninsula areas of Lekki phase 1 where groceries and more are expensive because of the silly perception that the locations are upscale.
