Most people go learn this the hard way
What if you ask and they sincerely tell you the wrong location. It is possible that rider is not familiar with the destination and s/he may have just copied and pasted the address into the app without committing it to memory.

If you are concerned about seeing the destination, take it up with the app companies so that they make the destination readily visible on the order notification.

You don't seem to understand the issue. The issue here is that the driver has an appointment that is already close so he doesn't want to go far away from the Lagos Mainland local government areas.

But then, he must have seen the location when he picked
Exactly.

Much respect, baba.

I am sure apps have a reason why they don't allow the destination to be readily visible, so it is out of place for drivers to ask riders for this information until they are at pickup location and they shouldn't blame riders who don't provide this information.

From my experience, 99% of the time, when drivers ask for destination location and I tell them, next question they ask is how much I saw on the app, then they end up cajoling me to pay extra. It could even be a security exposure for me.

Now, I don't reveal my destination at all until they get to pickup location. Drivers should take it up to the app companies to add that feature

In this particular incident, the lady is not the only lover here. At least, the driver spent his fuel in getting to the location of the driver before cancelling. If he is too concerned about his appointment, then he should focus on it
The app companies now show destination, after much ado. But I still ask just to be sure u are going to Ketu not Ikorodu, or Yaba not inside Bariga, or Ikeja GRA not Agege

The destination shows, but if u don't know d area u are going to, better sit in ur house. The least u can have is a complete address. U can't just say I am going to 5 Isaac John street. There is Isaac John Street in Fadeyi, Yaba and there is Isaac John in Ikeja GRA.
There is Bode Thomas in Illupeju and Bode Thomas in Surulere.
There is Molade Okoya Thomas in VI and Ikeja
And so on and so forth.

Riders can be oblivious and not check the area, as they are typing the street name they can click the first suggestion that pops up and it might not be where they actually want to go. So if a driver is going by only what he sees on d app, he may be misguided. This happens many times.

What security are u protecting from ur potential driver by not telling him ur destination when he asks. This doesn't make any sense.

Seems you're still living in the past. All apps show destination now. But sometimes, driver might ask just to confirm.

The bolded is one of the things that made Uber lose market leadership .. 2021 till early 2022, Uber was still covering destination like a kindergarten keeping biscuit or candy wrapping foil. grin
This is Lagos, no driver is going to work like a Zombie.

What security are you protecting ? the algorithm pairs riders to drivers on a random basis.

The truth is for every location a driver is not willing to go to, there are other drivers willing to go there, if the fare is right. It's not an issue at all.

Indrive na scam. See this request now. The rider said he or she isn't ready yet and I couldn't cancel the ride with rider didn't show despite staying over 5 minutes at the pickup point until I chose another option and they scammed me of my 700 naira.

I lost my fuel, time, and still lost money join. These app companies are fraudulent and scam

She hid her phone number and refused to pick my inapp calls and this is at Tejuosho market, meaning that's she's actively still shopping while booking a ride

Instead of this, I do screenshot the request as it is coming on Bolt and look up the address on the map.

Bolt just like the others are all scam. They could put the option for drivers to continue to see the drop off destination after picking the request as it currently is on Indrive but they wouldn't do that

Oga the problem of your Lagos that you are always singing like anthem is lack of organization, do you know a state in India habours almost 245 million persons?
Carlifonia has almost 40 million persons, followed by Texas currently 31 million yet you will never feel it, one day you will wake to know how they have been shortchanging you because of your little mind.
I know you will come with another reply but all I will say is zuzuwe, lazy okenye shouting our Lagos up and down.

Another reason I prefer Uber. Destination shows to the precise house number and building or shop name where available. Bolt destination can be ambiguous. Sometimes you'll see Ikeja, when you start trip na mangoro the person de go.
Uber just works.
For the newbies if you can, register on Uber. The onboarding may be more stringent and they charge a higher commission but for your peace of mind Uber is the best app to begin with.

It depends on type of car and personal negotiations. Between 40k and 60k
The higher the delivery amount the lower the maintenance responsibility on d driver

It's not population again? Since they have good roads and better cars, why are they still making peanuts compared to Lagos drivers who are building houses, travelling to Paris and Japa-ing grin

Uber with low fares, high commission, fewer request.

And they're all scams. When Uber mean to scam you of your hard earned bonus, they'll not look back.

The work is depressing

Atole! Is using states like California, Texas, and even in parts of India. Why not compare how institutions are managed in an overpopulated area like Lagos versus your own state, which has only about 10% of Lagos’ population? That would be a fairer starting point.

It’s a bit ironic to criticize Lagos from a distance without stating where you’re from. If you’re confident, let’s compare your state’s allocation and population to Lagos and see how things are coordinated there.

For example, Delta, Bayelsa, and Rivers states receive allocations similar to or even more than Lagos, yet their populations are far smaller. That gives them more money per capita. How well are things managed there?

Having access to the internet and education is great, but it doesn’t automatically mean one has a better understanding of governance. Lagos is doing reasonably well, considering its scale and complexity. If you strongly disagree, you’re always free to explore other places that align more with your expectations.

I think this is more formal grin

what if i do 50k weekly remittance/delivery. And 50/50 maintenance contribution between me and the driver. Its that fair enough or its it on the high side to the driver? Ill personally handle the servicing.

Not fair. Most especially if the owner is a toddler without his own mind. A toddler that has promised to leave this thread, business and its conversation but won't
