In Nigeria, political defections are as common as the rainy season — sudden, sweeping, and often leaving chaos in their wake. From Bola Tinubu’s strategic leap from AD to APC, to Atiku Abubakar’s record-breaking five-party pilgrimage, the corridors of power are paved with a history of ideological somersaults and calculated moves. But as these heavyweight politicians hop from one party to another, the question remains: Is this a quest for ideology or merely a game of political survival?

Every major Nigerian politician is guilty of political awhorism. Meanwhile, the polity has never been better for it till date.

ACN -> APC is not defection! It's the product of a marriage as the previous party automatically becomes defunct while the successor party inherits everything about the former.

In otherwords, Tinubu moved once, AD to AC. ACN and APC are products of mergers.

Buhari moved once, ANPP to CPC.

Kashim Shetima has never defected.

Just to justify the oloshoism of their agulu fraud??
You can see how sectarian this Statisense is from this publication..and it is now clear they have an agenda.

PO became a governor under APGA even swore he will never leave the party, he moved to PDP, where he was a VP candidate and later LP.

All the three parties are still in existence, so clearly he has defected twice and I am pretty sure he will still defect for the next election.

BAT's movement is not a defection , as the parties merged in a coalition and the old parties no longer exists, at least not in the form it was before the merger.

Same thing Buhari, it was merger, not defection.

Statisense is rubbish being published as statistics

Statisdense must be hallucinating, Tinubu has never ever defected. He left AD to form his own party afresh, that’s not defection

You are right. That was why Bianca and Victor Oye (APGA) chairman cursed him that he would never attain anything politically.

Thank you, jàre. I was wondering about Tinubu. He seems to have been stable to a large extent.

Olodo, Tinubu never defected to any party. His party changed names or merged with other parties to form new ones. That's different from leaving a party to joining another one.

It's an IPOB agenda. They are trying to make others look like their agulu conman.

Lies. AD is not AC/ACN and never changed to AC/ACN.

Tinubu left AD almost at the end on his tenure alongside disgruntled AD members including Bisi Akande when they had leadership tussles and formed AC which metamorphosed into ACN.

AD exists to this day and has its national chairman.
