Congratulations sir, please what's the realistic age for a child who is interested to start learning the coding stuff. I saw where you said he can code very well. How does one even go about it.

Each child is different and should be treated so. When he was about 10 years old, he came to me one day and asked some security-related questions about systems. I explained it to him and told him he has to learn coding to understand it better. I showed him how to generate all possible 4-digit PINs in Python in just seconds. It triggered his interest, and he started learning. He is so devoted to his studies.

Get systems for them first, and after that you can register them for Cisco Networking Academy online. Most of the contents are free, and the materials are very easy to use.

Cybersecurity is excellent; the majority of the computer-related courses are very good. The two major problems are the way they are taught and the curriculum used in the teaching in Nigeria. You can develop yourself to any level.

I just checked my son's jamb results now and the response I got was "Result: Underaged and Under-performed"

How? No breakdown of the results to even know how he performed. Jamb's rule is that you must be 16 years on or before 30th September 2025, my son will be 16 years by October 9th 2025, just 9 days away and jamb wants my son to wait for another 365 days because of 9 days.

My plan was to ask for special consideration and exceptional permission. How do I do that when I don't even know how he performed in the exams? Jamb should please give us the full results. We paid for it and we need to see our results.

Double think that. Please do. It's always best to have a broader based first degree (So Computer Science in this case) and then specialise with a degree in Software Engineering. Just a random advice.

I have explained the same thing to him. Computer science will give you the opportunity to navigate around other areas of IT.

What they do using the O Level result is to assign scores. For example,
If you get

English A1 = 9.5
Maths B2 = 8.5
Biology B3 = 7.5

and divide your JAMB score by 8 and weight it at 50%.
I hope you get the idea

They believe that your O level result contributes 50% of the aggregate and JAMB contribute another 50%

They used to write Post UTME before now, but I don't know what happened.

I started learning programming at 29. Starting software engineering professionally 3 years later. While at it, I got a full funded scholarship. I've interned with companies in the Baltic and Netherlands. No be everything be "Nigeria happened to you".
The lad still has his whole life ahead of him. He just have to have the right information and that's all.

Modified: The boy is already programming using Python at 16. As successful and fulfilled as I'd say I am right now, I didn't have that privilege until I'm in my late 20s. Whether they teach programming on slate of rocks in Nigerian universities, it's none of his business.
Shey the guy is even going to study computer related course? I studied economics.
Nigeria will only happen to you if you're looking for connections to join pack of dull people working in the civil service. There's no job in Nigeria, but everyone I know in my circle are doing more than one job at a time, most of which they didn't apply for. The employers reach out to them on LinkedIn.
Dey there dey find job wey millions of other people can do and think it will be easy for you to get.

In 2024, once you are not 16 years old, irrespective of your score, you are not qualified.
In 2025, if you are less than 16 years old and score above 320, you are qualified.

I need to know why it was not implemented. If they were not fully ready for the implementation in 2024, they should have waited until they are 100% ready before implementation. This is how things are done.

What if the person scored 319,, wouldn't the person start to feel to unaccomplished and suicidal.?

To even think that your son scored above 320 and they still couldn't implement the policy,, it tells a lot about the rot and anyhowness in almost everything in this country.

The rule is that for underage to write the exam ,then he/she must be a gifted/genius and he/she must score 320 and above. JAMB only released the results of those that made 320 and above as an underage. 400 plus out of 4000 plus underage that registered
