Today, I had the honour of hosting a Joint Meeting of the Northern States Governors’ Forum and the Northern Traditional Rulers Council at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna.

The well-attended meeting deliberated extensively on the security situation in the North, and other issues of common interest like agriculture, the economy, education, and human capital development. At the end of the Joint Meeting, a communique was read and signed by the Chairman of the Northern States Governors Forum, His Excellency Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya.

COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE JOINT MEETING OF THE NORTHERN STATES GOVERNORS' FORUM WITH THE CHAIRMEN OF THE NORTHERN STATES TRADITIONAL RULERS' COUNCIL, HELD ON SATURDAY, 10TH MAY, 2025 AT THE SIR KASHIM IBRAHIM HOUSE, KADUNA

The Northern States Governors Forum convened a joint meeting with the Chairmen of the Northern States Traditional Rulers Council on Saturday, 10 May 2025, at the Council Chamber of the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna.

The meeting was attended by Their Excellencies, the Governor of all 19 Northern States and Their Royal Highnesses, the Chairmen of the 19 Northern States Traditional Rulers' Councils.

The forum acknowledges the critical role of nonpartisan cooperation, collaboration, and peer review in effectively addressing the numerous developmental challenges confronting the northern region and the nation at large.

After exhaustive deliberations on matters of regional interest, particularly security, the Forum released the following communique:

The Forum commends Mr. President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his sustained commitment to addressing the security challenges and infrastructural deficits in Northern Nigeria.

The Forum resolved to liaise with the Nigerian Governors Forum to work out modalities of how to increase support to the Federal Security Forces.

The Forum also resolved to strengthen peculiar local initiatives in combating all forms of security challenges.

The Forum also resolved to urgently set up inter-state platforms to coordinate surveillance on our joint borders.

The Forum reiterated its support for the creation of the State Police and called on the National Assembly to expedite action on the enactment of the legal framework for its take-off.
Forum's next meeting will hold on the 30th of August 2025.

Earlier today, the Secretary to the Kaduna State Government, Dr. Abdülkadir Meyare, hosted the Secretaries of the 19 Northern State Governments for a meeting at the State House in Kaduna, in preparation for the Northern States Governors’ Forum meeting scheduled for tomorrow Saturday.

Forget all this gathering, Jagaban winning 2027 election is a sure bet with 1.001 odds. That pa is more of an action taker, and less talk. Opposition should not bother wasting their funds. Let's see how long the one party system will last.

Hope they talk about improvements and insecurities in the North and not just how to loot money...

Tinubu thinks he is the wisest person in this country cos he is the president. He fails to realise that power is transient. He is enforcing his policy on the masses not thinking of the aftermath effects on the masses. He thinks with a Congo of rice and beans masses will line up and vote him again. Rude shock is waiting for him. I'm from South west and the level of anger many have towards this government is huge. The few you see defending him on Nairaland are either benefitting from his government or they have relatives that's directly benefitting. I'm assuring everyone this time around, riging won't work cos everyone is tired. All the politicians you see defecting have no influence, no south south, south east, North and a large chunk of south west will vote Tinubu again. Once bitten twice shy. He should continue with is gregarious policy. His eyes will clear very soon.

When people talk about taking the country back from parasite holding it, dogs in a menger will keep barking.

Nothing of importance has been achieved since the government entered but they are already campaigning for the next year election.

But on serious note we should learn one or two from these politicians, about early planning to get a better result and building bridges with people with your interests. Even if they are against your interests give them something they cannot refuse to buy their interest.
