Remove those who depends on others for your statistics .

No reasonable place in lagos you can get 2 bedroom flat for less than 700k as a new tenant .

Deep truth. I understand this well

The surest way to live comfortably in Lagos is to be a successful and thriving entrepreneur or have multiple streams of income, salaries carry curses that can never be enough nor make you rich, Carl Toriola the highest paid Nigerian no be Dangote and Otedola mate, anywhere they seat Carl must stand up
But Carl is rich by all standards, even though he earns salary.

Even Dangote and otedola don’t make the same amount. One is richer than the other even if so slightly.

There are people that are entrepreneurs and have multiple streams of income that don’t make as much as some salary earners with all their incomes combined.

Riches/wealth/success is subjective.

The idea that salary doesn’t make you rich is false.

I earn 300k , single but some how it doesn’t feel enough.

Lagos is very expensive. As a single guy if you can do away with womanizing, gambling and other useless ventures you should be able to live comfortably if you earn above 200k.
Brother 200k is not enough I can tell you..By thr grace of God, I don't drink, smoke, I fact I don't womanize at all, and I don't used to go out most times..Most of my life cycle is from work to home and on Sundays to church, I earn close to 170k in lagos and yet at the end of month, it is not enough and from my own deduction, I noticed that the reason why many people are complaining these days is because of inflation. If I am earning that amount as of last 2 to 3 years, I will be living comfortably..Inflation is the major reason why things are hard on people
Re: What Is A Comfortable Salary In Lagos? by Ariana247: 4:34pm On May 11, 2025
I earn more than some of my friends, but I’m just one emergency away from abject poverty, and that’s concerning. I might feel comfortable if I earned ₦10m/month.

This crack me up- big man, big problem-

Don̈t mind him, he thinks everybody live extravagant lifestyle.. I don't smoke, drink, or womanizer and I earn above 200k and I still complain at the end of the month because inflation has eaten up everything. So, I am sourcing a side hustle to argument of salary that is the best way to survive..multiple streams of income

The wife's bonus is used to pay the rent. And the house is to the wife's workplace that is why they are living in the house

As in.

The Lekki married man said he doesn't have any savings despite earning such amount.

First, I think the house rent is quite much (#5M) per annum.
The money spent on rent can be used for another thing.

In summary, I think it depends on individual. Many will still complain even if they're earning #10-#15M per month.

Learning how to manage ones wants and needs is very important.
Re: What Is A Comfortable Salary In Lagos? by chinchum(m): 5:15pm On May 11, 2025
Lifestyle choices is the number ONE determinant of what is enough as income ! This applies anywhere in the world !

To explain further, it is a choice of what city you live, what kind of house you live, what food you eat, how you eat the food, what car you drive, for men what lust they chase, E.T.C ?,

IF YOU CAN'T REGULATE these choices, no amount will be enough.

In summary, humans will always want more and try to get more once they have an increase.

Let's imagine the man earning 900k chooses to leave in a 1.5m house, feed his family with less than 150k like the man earning 90k
He would have enough left.

But we are humans after all, always want more and with more we create more problems

Remember as billionaires have problems in billions. Millionaires problem in millions,

One is even saying humans even want more like it is a bad thing
The only comment that made sense here is the one which acknowledged the galloping hyperinflation the Ag**ba**do sifu imposed
As for the other person saying carl whatever
Don't worry

I am more concern about the man who earns 900k/month and spend 5m/year on house rent.

we need to understand the concept of financial freedom.
1. i stay in my house
2. i have a farm and 50% of my meat and verg. is from the farm
3. i have few investment like TB and that takes care of the kids school fees

I can continue with the list and how i find my way around cutting down on cost and improving my savings.

I believe 1m/year house is not bad and 4m can go into developing his 2 plots

No money is enough money, it all depends on your lifestyle. Someone earning 500k can have more savings and investment than one earning 1m if you don't have financial literacy.

Imagine that architect earning 1.5m and having no dedicated amount for savings despite not paying house rent but pays for Netflix prime, Spotify, Twitter, YouTube etc...
If he starts earning 10m his wants will also multiply and zaps his income.

If you can't control your wants while earning little, earning much won't change anything

That engineer in lekki with 900k salary paying 5m annual rent which is 6 months of his salary, what if he is sacked tomorrow, it means he doesn't have anything in his saving that can sustain the family for even 2 months while looking for another Job? He is priming himself for poverty and future disrespect from his wife

House rent shouldn't exceed 2-3 months salary, if it does you're in the wrong house

If you're not financially literate and prudent, you can be earning 5m monthly and still not be able to save 200k from it.
Re: What Is A Comfortable Salary In Lagos? by Viccur(m): 7:33pm On May 11, 2025
Lagos is too expensive regardless of how much one earns. Someone earning 10m/month will still complain.

I pray the man earning 900k and paying 5m rent doesn't lose his job cos wtf is that
Re: What Is A Comfortable Salary In Lagos? by lildush(m): 7:41pm On May 11, 2025
To be comfortable in Lagos. U must earn at least 500k a month. Depending on ur location. U can still manage. Transportation alone will take almost 200k. Feeding. 150 to 200k. Wat is left? 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
Re: What Is A Comfortable Salary In Lagos? by Jega2000(m): 7:46pm On May 11, 2025

The 600k banker should help herself by trying to cook at home and stock them in fridge it will help even me wey no collect reach half of hers I do cook and stock in fridge and that's what helps me when ever I'm broke in the middle of month, I don't have money but I eat every day. I get a list go to market buy a bag of rice, seno, half paint of egusi, half paint of ogbono, one paint of crayfish, some dry fish, 5 liters of red and ground oil each, pack of cubes, salt, some sachets of seasoning possibly some packs of noodles. So after everything make sure you don't run out of stocks before replacing, even my bathing soup I buy in packs. I blend large tomatoes and fridge it, also pepper as well ,So this have helped me a lot even when I don't have cash I can cook with just 2500 and that 2500 it's for eat or fish.

The 900k engineer you don't have to stay in lekki. Forget about I want to live a big life for now, I swear with 900k Salary in Lagos walai I go done build house for my town already this one no be mouth.

Ikoyi Architect and Lekki married man are seriously flirting with poverty.
The Ikoyi guy doesn't incur rental expenses. To live in Ikoyi sounds like old money. He may be from a wealthy family hence his poor financial choices.

The Lekki guy said he has 2 plots of land grin
Spending the wife's annual income to cover rent for me is a no no, it should be invested in my opinion. He's living above his means.

I'm sure they don't know they're flirting with poverty as the income is obviously consistent.

Re: What Is A Comfortable Salary In Lagos? by Karismatik(f): 10:45pm On May 11, 2025
My candid adviceto anyone who cares is that you leave Lagos State right now. Relocate to any village in Osun. Ekiti or Ondo state.
On the immediate, start with tomatoes or pepper farming but your long term goal is to have a cocoa farm.
If you succeed in this, you'll regret the days you've wasted begging for jobs in Lagos.
