You said it's not about forcing them, then in the same breath u said one should tell them "no child of mine will use my money to dance ". I don't think a parent should approach things like that from that angle. First u should know if he or she is comfortable with certain subjects, then discuss the courses/career path that are economically viable which are available for students who excel in those subject.

Make them feel comfortable taking the decision of opting for ghat economically viable career path because u have explained to them what that particular path entails and that they actually have what it takes to survive on that path.

i recall 90% of medical students at the end of their course complained that their parents tricked or forced them into med school. most opf them said they would not make the same choice

then the exposure of the adult advising also counts. when i was younger one of my dad's friends told me there was nothing in architecture -= engineering is the way. imagine my shock when i entered the construction industry and saw architects calling the shots

the funny thing about commercial viability is that you will see people who are not making it in every course, and you will also see people who are hammering in the same courses. the whole commercial viability talk is subjective. and what you said about passion just drove something home to me - the biggest problem i have with a lot of employees is just that - the work is basically just a job to them. so they put in minimal effort and deliver minimal results. they are unable or unwilling to go the extra mile where you move into performance territory. it is passion that makes you excel in whatever you are doing. that will make you go the extra mile, that will make you keep pushing.

Social media is a very big distraction for this generation and that's why I really salute the students who are blasting exams and making good grades in university at this age. It's not easy.

As an informed adult you have a better idea than a 17yr old and if you don't it's your job to seek informed adults who can guide your kids to the right path, leaving 16, 17yr old to make life decisions as important as a career is too risky

I see too many people especially in Yankee raking up student loans of hundred of thousands getting a first degree in sociology plus a masters in criminal justice only to end up working in prison system as correction officers or airport security. One of my tenants a white lady has a graduate degree in one of those and makes like 50k a year when with better guidance could have done better

No course if foolproof from unemployment but with some we are minimizing the risks , there are career pathways with high unemployment rates or perpetual low wages. And they are usually the low path of resistance courses

The person asking for the top 10 was last year. He was "fighting" for the young girl who claimed she scored highest only for it to be revealed that she forged the result she was parading. So the lawyer back then thought JAMB playing games by not providing the names and scores of the top 10 candidates hence his request.

The girl really pour spit for a whole lot of people's face including myself who never thought a young girl like that could be capable of such level of forgery.

This new lawyer is requesting for question and answer of each of the over 1.5m million people that failed JAMB this year because he believes there was a glitch in their system. Initially he claimed it was those that write their exams on the 26th April that were affected by this so.called glitch but now he has further claimed it also affected those who rote on 24th, 25th and 28th April as well.

I don't know why anybody would be willing to stick his neck out again on this glitch matter when u don't have evidence and also how bad the last year girl's case turned. By now people should know Ishaq Oleyede led JAMB seem to have act together.
