I've always said this severally. Never buy a Nigerian used car. If you cannot afford to buy tokumbo, just keep your money in order to avoid stories that touch.

80% of Nigerian used cars put up for sale by their owners are problematic. If they're in good condition, their owners wouldn't sell them.

I'm sure that the mileage of that Honda would be over 400k miles. At that point what do you want to fix. The car is already gone.

When you buy a Nigerian used car, you have to spend at least 1m to fix it immediately- that's a rule of thumb. Any patch-patch work like you have been embarking would be fruitless

One mechanic saved my name as 'Ejeh' (blood) in his phone, when I was driving that Honda, I was calling him every week for one fault or another, and he was smiling to the bank.

that's what we called bad purchase under law, the blame is for your brother and Kareem who suppose to check the car properly, and again, even if the car is in bad shape, #700k is enough to put it to standard. So is either Kareem or your brother are draining your pocket

I would have returned the car immediately even if it means me loosing 500k. It's still not late, take the devourer back to the seller

Get the mechanic arrested.

There is nothing you can as regards refund, or anything from the sellers side if you didn't sign any refundable or returnable agreement with him.

what we're the issues with the car when u bought it like that and what is the current issue with it?

I don't think you have any claims here, you went there with a kazeem (mechanic) to help ascertain the condition of the car, Kazeem gave you go ahead to pay after checking the car and point out some things you'll need to fix in the car which made the seller to reduce the price. While driving the car home, it was giving problems. The person you should have held liable is the Kazeem that failed to do a professional assessment of the car. Kazeem failed you not the seller

No guarantee comes with 9ja used cars. And the owner must tell you all the problems with the car( some lie though). If it's a V6, you might need a good mechanic to put things in order. 4 plug is a good buy. In general, Japanese cars are good buy when it comes to 9ja used cars. All you need is a good mechanic. Are you in Abuja? If yes, hit me up and I'll direct you to a good mechanic in Gudu. Nothing to worry about the car you bought for your mom. It's a good buy. Except your mechanic is wicked

Are you completely blind to the harsh reality that the average Nigerian is facing? She should be selling what she can't fix to another hardworking Nigerian, not just dumping it! It would have been much smarter for you to buy it from her and fix it up for yourself instead of suggesting that she give it to someone else who clearly doesn't understand the messy condition of the car.

I learnt the roadside Kazeem had almost pieced the car in search of a fault that wasn't there.

While we were on this, I decided to replace the steering pump and rack because the steering had become stiff and so difficult to turn. This cost some fortunes.

Mind you, like play like play, this car had spent about 3 months at different locations. I got tired at this point and decided to leave it under bridge in Ojuelegba where I was asked to pay #400 per day but begged for #200. It was there from December till last month.

I was told it overheated again while moving from God knows where to Ojuelegba and I needed to replace the coils all again.
Let's no forget there were different electrical issues that I can't even list out because I don't even know what to call them.
But now, the gear is making one annoying and disturbing sound and they are asking for an arm and heart to fix it. It will be one year by next month and car hasn't made it to my house.
It can't even go beyond 25Km/h nor can it climb hills.
Very frustrating.

sounds like you’re experiencing either a fuse box or gear box issue. It could also be sensors. Outright replacement is recommended

Also, contact Jiji to provide you with a copy of their contract with sellers.

Secondhand dealers are required to list all problems with the vehicle. Your purchase was to be secondhand and not scrap.

It’s the same with bidding sites, they’re required to give details of bodywork, accidents etc.

All you can do is appeal to his conscience to address your concerns about the car &or for him to help sell it to recover some of your money.

They will not tell you the truth conditions of what they are selling to you. There own is to collect your hard earned money and move...

Which case you won file against him? That he didn't give you the car or that he didn't allow you to see the car before you pay, what makes you think that he will not defend himself by saying you tested it and confirmed it ok before you made payment and in fact, you drove the car away not as if you had to tow the vehicle from his compound, besides how do you prove with evidence that mechanics have not been removing the good parts of the vehicle and replacing them with bad ones since you had parked the vehicle with them for that long?
Well on a lighter note, just go and build glass house in front of una compound and keep the vehicle there, in the next 50years, people will be paying to watch it. This is dumb. Why didnt u tow the car to your house at the first sign of trouble and then get a trusted mechanic to work on it at our home?

If u knw where to get the 🐐,pay police and go drag him.One like that did same to a friend wife.We travelled from Lagos to Akure drag him.He pay part of the money and to Balance in August He don carry him problem to Akure.involve Military if u have connection
