P1PrinceKT:Like the one we’ve had in the past abi? The great candidates like Buhari? Like Tinubu? Like Obasanjo? Like Jonathan? This is a beautiful bill that would’ve quelled ethnic tensions and this guys missed a huge opportunity to help this country truly unite. Imagine if Tinubu ran against only other yorubas from the south west, or Peter Obi ran against only igbos from the south east, do you think the tension would exist?? The only alternative is to guarantee free, transparent, and fair elections but since that hasn’t happened, we must work with every region to ensure that when their turn reach, they are only running against themselves. |

Some people sha want to use the backdoor quota system to become president by force. |

So if a region does not have credible candidates when it's their turn we'll now be forced to settle for one of those bad candidates. If we want to practice true democracy as it's practiced in western countries, it should be government of the people, for the people and by the people, it does not matter where the candidates the people want come from. What we have to pay a special attention to is a genuine electoral reform that will guarantee that whosoever the people vote for will be announced as the winner, not the type of reforms by Apc, for Apc by their partner in crime, Mahmoud Yakubu. |

There's no one-fit-size for democracy. Every country should shape democracy according to its unique traits. This rotation of power would have been the best. |

Those who sit on justice and equity while promoting injustice, will cry in the future, because there will never be peace without equity and your country will never amount to anything this way. |

| Re: Rotational Presidency: House Of Reps Rejects Bill At Second Reading by franvincoop: 5:57pm On May 13, 2025 |
You are indirectly saying that an Ibo man (SE) will never be President. Do you realise that? Same like Wike who was ranting that PDP should zone the 2027 Presidency to the South but could not follow through to say which of the South - SS, SW or SE. fergie001: |
| Re: Rotational Presidency: House Of Reps Rejects Bill At Second Reading by franvincoop: 6:02pm On May 13, 2025 |
But it's still unfair, don't you think? Which North? North Central or North East? Which South? South East? Going by your choice of a global South and global North, these zones in the North and South above mentioned will never produce a President until rapture. Do you agree? favour32: |
| Re: Rotational Presidency: House Of Reps Rejects Bill At Second Reading by Inosky: 6:04pm On May 13, 2025 |
The should include secession since rotatational presidency is a crime. I know it would be northerners that will oppose it. Most of them have bad agenda for other regions in the south, especially for southeast. |

No loud am abeg, u r very famous and we know exactly why u want zoning but don't want zoning. But even Shettima knows he will never be President coming from the North East. Chucks13: |

Amen to that. They want zoning but they don't want zoning. He who comes to equity must come with clean hands. When will the NC, NE and SE produce a Presidency? When? Thank God say I no be Igbo. pazienza: |

I think the MAJOR reason the bill was rejected is to avoid the possibility of producing a president of SE extraction. THE FEAR OF THE IGBO NATION IS COMPOUNDING THE PROBLEMS OF THIS COUNTRY. |

P1PrinceKT:That can only work if INEC operates without fear or favor and unbiased with elections being transparent, free and fair!! The 2023 election is a stain on our democracy and things like is capable of breaking our already fragile country! If they cannot deliver, then let all region have rotation! That would end tribalism and reduce ethic tensions |

Rotational presidency is tantamount to mediocrity. Meritocracy is the way to progress, the best man winning, not based on rotation. |
| Re: Rotational Presidency: House Of Reps Rejects Bill At Second Reading by franudi: 8:46pm On May 13, 2025 |
How can this country be good without rotational presidency? Every state want their governorship to be rotational. Every Local government wants their chairmanship to be rotational. Even every community wants their traditional rulership to be rotational. What is then wrong in Nigeria presidency being rotational? |

| Re: Rotational Presidency: House Of Reps Rejects Bill At Second Reading by Keyin: 8:58pm On May 13, 2025 |
So the likes of Tinubu and Buhari are the best men? Your submission is analytically deprived! Rotatational presidency has its limitations but based on ethnographic constitution of Nigerian state population and lack of integrity in the affairs of electoral umpire, rotational presidency would dilute the influence of Nigeria belong to us primordial sentiments in Nigeria Leadership equation. I am not worried much over the issues in Nigeria polity since core Northern region who oppose this still remain underdeveloped region in Nigeria history. What have they achieved since their serial rulership in Nigeria. The fair better under GEJ than Buhari! Even the elites that benefit from such opportunity is only while they are in power. After leaving office for one year they become impoverished! dederocs: |
| Re: Rotational Presidency: House Of Reps Rejects Bill At Second Reading by favour32(m): 9:09pm On May 13, 2025 |
franvincoop:You are correct. Nigeria has been programmed by forces beyond our control. If we apply sentiment, president is expected to go round each zone. But here, they don't think that way but only North/ South, as politicians have divided the people through tribalism and religion. |
| Re: Rotational Presidency: House Of Reps Rejects Bill At Second Reading by saintmm(m): 9:22pm On May 13, 2025 |
Justnation:I love how it's been thrown away. Anything to unite this country as it is now is Capital NO! Instead of rotational presidency, let's go for full resource control at least that's if balkanization will not be possible. |
| Re: Rotational Presidency: House Of Reps Rejects Bill At Second Reading by saintmm(m): 9:45pm On May 13, 2025 |
Why the brouhaha about presidency is just about who controls the wealth of the nation per time. Rotational presidency cannot solve the problem of marginalization, let's not be emotional about it rather it will escalate it. The problem will then be which state in the geopolitical zone will produce? Then another round of issues start. Also, don't forget that if by act of Parliament, such is injected into our constitution, imagine if a president like OBJ emerges and have a Senate president like Akpabio, speaker like Masari and CJN like Tanko Muhammad that arrangements will be altered and another round of issues will occur. To me what will solve all this power agitation is full Resource Control at the geopolitical level then tax is being paid to the federal government for strictly national necessities, nobody will want to agitate for presidency again and then rigging will be out and will be fully on merit. Because the real power will be at the regional level and then you can manage it as you like. There's no region in Nigeria that is bereft of commercially viable mineral resources so, what we really need is resource control and not rotational presidency |
House of Reps Rejects Clause Criminalising Vote-buying During Party primaries • Akpabio: House of Reps rejects CFR award on Speaker Abbas, demands GCON honours • Reps Rejects Immunity For Senate President, Speaker, Others • 2 • 3 • 4
