There was no written agreement on such but we called him one time to let him know the situation of the car and as well let him know we would be returning it.. He stopped taking calls ever since.
Is there a part of the initial agreement that you will be returning the car back on certain conditions? Or that's an after thought clause from your end

The fact that you are aware the car is faulty and still proceed to acquire it shows he's not hiding much from you and you know what you are getting into

While it was being driven to my place.
Overheating happened and it damaged the four coils.
There right there, I spent above 250k fixing radiator, automated dashboard, four coils, plugs, oil gauge stick, mobil oil, gasket and some stupid things.

They fixed it, and it worked for a few minutes till it broke down again and I had to change filter and fuel pump with some minor things because car won't move. After a while... it moved again then stopped. This time it was the kick but before they figured it out.
I learnt the roadside Kazeem had almost pieced the car in search of a fault that wasn't there.

While we were on this, I decided to replace the steering pump and rack because the steering had become stiff and so difficult to turn. This cost some fortunes.

Mind you, like play like play, this car had spent about 3 months at different locations. I got tired at this point and decided to leave it under bridge in Ojuelegba where I was asked to pay #400 per day but begged for #200. It was there from December till last month.

I was told it overheated again while moving from God knows where to Ojuelegba and I needed to replace the coils all again.
Let's no forget there were different electrical issues that I can't even list out because I don't even know what to call them.
But now, the gear is making one annoying and disturbing sound and they are asking for an arm and heart to fix it. It will be one year by next month and car hasn't made it to my house.
It can't even go beyond 25Km/h nor can it climb hills.
Very frustrating.
As a person without much experience about used cars always have like 3mechanics inspect a used car.
2m for 2008 civic is already fishy, you better swap the engine since yours is still working to some extent.
Still, those mechanics are not your friends, they’re cheating you

What exactly is the problem of the carhuh I have been using mine since 2019 and I have been enjoying it just minor issues, if you are in Lagos I can direct where you will fix everything, nothing do ur car na you never see better mechanic

The thing is that, the Kazeem was never a personal mechanic. He resides in my mum's city of residence (another state) and he was introduced to me thinking it would make the delivery a lot easier.
He was expected to come to lagos, inspect the car, confirm its state and if good, drive it to his state to my mum.
Scrap the car and save towards another. Next time, use a personal mechanic. The short term extra expense will be a long term savings

Questions when I bought it?
Did you read that I asked my brothers to go there with a Kazeem? Someone who charged me 40k before he could agree to follow my brothers for inspection.
Whoelse would I trust with the knowledge of a car?
I even learnt that when the Kazeem got there, he and the seller exchanged contacts for reasons I do not know. I'm thinking the seller settled him to convince my brothers to buy the car.
Exactly

Your kazeem has played you street

A God fearing kazeem would have outrightly told you not to buy the car

Change the Engine, accept that you were frauded by the kazeem and move on with your life....

With the whole money you must have spent, it could have gotten you a better good full engine

Is this comedy or just saying there is another way to learn mechanic by own certain cars!
HelenaWills:
I wanted to get my mum a small car last year.
Didn't have money for a tokunbo so I asked my brothers to help me surf jiji for any affordable car.
They showed me a Civic 08 and since I drive one myself, I felt it would be nice to match with my mum.

My brothers and a Kazeem went for inspection and they discovered the car had a few things to be fixed which made them slash the price from 2.4M that we initially agreed to #2,050,000.
This was in June last year.

They set out to drive the car down to my house before heading to my mum's but brethrens, since June last year till this very moment as I type this. The car has only been parked from one Kazeem shop to another, on some days it was left by the road side or a petrol station for days out of frustration. I have spent above 700k on it all to no fruition. It's been almost a year now and this car hasn't made me it my house yet talk more of sending it to my mum. I contacted the guy and he said he had tried by slashing the price and that was all he could do. At some point, he stopped picking my brother's calls.
Please what advice can you give me?

Can I get him arrested or take legal measures against him at least? Or has this become my headache for life?
I need chunks of recommendations please.

Sounds like comedy but serious one, sorry the money lost. But quickly sell to pantaker to recover small money, before another kazeem will finally sell the carcass!

Sale it to me. grin.
I would rather scrap the car and use the parts to build fabrications

I assume mechanic is called Kazeem or who is a Kazeem and why ?

I would sue the Mechanic. It’s on his recommendation you purchased the vehicle. That said there is something called status of limitation usually it’s like 30 days . Plus did you do a Car fax on the vehicle with VIN number it will give you details of the vehicle.

Legal action for obtaining by false pretence a.k.a. 419
Obtaining by false presence like he refused the car to be inspected or did he refuse to reduce price for detected problems?

How did he pretend when you have a mechanic with you

You could have used a towing vehicle to get this car to a proper mechwnci6yard instead if this trial by error thing.
Next time get male that you know well to be involved in stuff like this. Dem mech and co don too chop you. That first 250k alone? For. Real?

You waited too long to swing into action but if you have proof that the car hasn’t served its purpose text or WhatsApp messages, just get a good lawyer to go the Area command or higher police stations and make a complaint.

I see you’re in Lagos just go to the area command or just go to panti straight no time. If you want I can help connect you a police officer at panti.

Helenawills
Disregard this advice entirely, police will just continue chopping you from where Kazeem stop, before you know it you'll have spent thousands on police

I mistakenly bought a Nigerian used Honda civic 2005 2 years ago, there's nothing I didn't change in this car,

Gearbox
Power steering pump
Complete Rear hub with brake drums as it didn't come with one.
Front hubs
Kick starter
Front stabilizer rod bar as it didn't come with it.
Front brake disc
Ac compressor
Evaporator
Condenser
Front full lights
Rear lights
Front bumper

I was just visiting mechanic shop every weekend as there will be one thing or the other to fix.

I spent almost the money I used to buy the car to fix one or two issues as issues kept coming up.

I later sold the car after one year.

You wanted an affordable car not a healthy one.
Sell it off as scrap and rest.

You want to go and return the car to the owner after test driving and agreeing to buy it. Who does that?

I have a Honda Civic 2007 model. It's so rugged that I use it as a utility car. I've had it for 6 years and it's so low maintenance that I'm reluctant to sell it. Even though I have better cars, that car holds a special place in my heart.

The bitter truth is that your mechanic is probably fleecing you. I just hope it's not in conjunction with your brother. Why will you pay 200 naira a day to store the vehicle when you can tow it to a trusted mechanic? You people on this forum either catch cruise or are plain daft. It's always one or the other.

I think you should get a very good tokunbo engine and forget all the problems with the old engine. Stop trying to fix the old engine cos I'm sure that's the reason the owner sold it
