HI guys, if I book and pay for an appointment for August and I check later and say for example, I see another appointment in June, can I pay for the June one and cancel the August appointment?

If you're a first time Schengen applicant, book actual flights but make sure the flight is fully refundable (call the airline to confirm this before paying for the flight).

there are many services you can use to generate dummy flight booking where you'll only pay a small fee for that and when you visa is out, you book actual flights.

Search on Google for "dummy flight booking"

But take note that some people's visas are denied because they couldn't confirm their 'dummy flight details' hence my advice at the beginning.

Re: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by Jane111: 9:42pm On May 14, 2025
You can use Wakanow. After you do the booking, choose the transfer option not the card option when you get to the payment stage, that makes them to send the booking details to your mail which contains the flight itinerary and the payment instruction. Print the part that highlights the flight itinerary only, containing the arrival and departure dates, this suffices. The whole point is to get a drift of your proposed traveling schedule as they aren't expecting any reasonable person to buy a ticket for a visa application with an uncertain/ unpredictable outcome.
This was what we did and we got 3 months approved as first time schengen applicants.......All the best

These are truly your best options. Also the Wakanow alternative is also smart. But to me, the best is option 1, book a refundable ticket.

First time or not first time. Do not book flight and pay for it.

You need dummy copy.

Hello Nairaland gurus.

I applied for France tourism on Monday, and my phone got spoiled in the evening, and I can't pick up or receive calls since then.

I want to know if the French Embassy normally calls applicants for interviews or questions about their applications.

Because I can call or receive calls as the location where I am, they don't have the screen or anything to fix the phone for this week.

Has anyone experience this before.
Re: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by Jane111: 10:23am On May 16, 2025
You have nothing to be worried about, the average time of response is between 7-18 working days after submission. The embassy operate a non-interview system and in the unlikely event that they require additional information, I am sure a week of inaction from your end (even tho unadvised) wouldn't vitiate your application.

Hello Everyone,
My appointment date is in July, I'm trying to get an earlier date, kindly advice on ways one can get this, I check everyday, but nothing yet.
Do you think if I upgrade to premium lounge or prime time appointment, I would be able to get a nearer date ?
Thanks

That means the embassy is done reviewing your application and they've returned it to TLS so that you can pick it up or have it dispatched to you if you opted for delivery.

Gurus here, please help review this section of my cover letter

==========================

Strong Ties to Nigeria
I have strong ties to Nigeria both professionally and personally.
I have built my professional career in the field of computing and I am employed by COMPANY since January, 2024 where I apply my expertise as an ROLE. I have enclosed my leave approval letter and a No Objection Certificate which ensure that I will resume my role upon returning from France.
I have a close-knit family and support my sister, SISTER'S NAME with her medical bills as shown via outward transfers on my bank statements.
In addition, I have an inheritance from my late father and I also own properties in my state of origin (STATE State). I’ve attached copies of my father's will and the ownership documents for my own properties.
These factors demonstrate my deep-rooted connections to Nigeria and provide strong assurance of my intention to return after my short visit to France.

==========================

In the above, should I:
1. Remove the statement about supporting my sister with her hospital bills?
2. Leave the statement in 1 above but mention the specific dates of these transactions in my statement of account?

The inheritance from my father, was a house shared amongst me and my siblings. Basically, it's a family house somewhere in Lagos to ensure we all still get together during festive periods. Is the statement fine this way or there's a better way I can word that statement to demonstrate my strong ties to Nigeria.

Visa applicant is a young single male with practically no travel experience so trying to provide proof of ties to home country as much as possible

There's no how to know if your visa was approved or not until you receive your passport, so sit down, relax and hope for a positive result.

Oh wow congratulations. Do you mind sharing the content of the letter of intent? also the bank statement does it has to do with huge sum?
Then can one use a land document that you’re made next of kin? The tour and flight reservations how did you go about it please?
Re: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by Minajesty18(f): 6:57am On May 17, 2025
firebreather:
Like that person said, it's not really about the money. In fact, sometimes when you have excessively large money in the account you used to apply it will look suspicious like you're planning to abscond to their country hence the huge money (they'll think you want to use that to settle in their country).

To demonstrate strong ties to Nigeria, you can include leave letter (and No Objection Certificate) from your work assuming you're employed but if you own your own business it's a different case. You could also add that you're caring for an elderly parent if you're single otherwise include your marriage certificate.

Another way is to submit proof of ownership of properties or other tangible assets that can really prove that you will return to Nigeria. I've also seen people including that they're about to get married with a wedding photoshoot and IV or their sister is about to get married.

In essence, take your time to start a convincing cover letter, emphasizing that you'll return to Nigeria after your trip.

You can also share your cover letter here when done so people can help you review.

Also, Ghana won't really count towards your "travel history" as they're just considered our neighbours so maybe you shouldn't waste money going there 🫠
Hello, I read through your response and I thought I ask; is it possible one uses a land property document belonging to husband but states that am next of kin, as property is in my care and my spouse is out of the country

This one is a bit sketchy ooo. For example, the visa officer might actually be thinking since the property owner (your husband) is out of the country won't you be planning to also go out of the country? (i.e. they might be suspecting that you'll overstay your visa).

If you have kids that you must return to to take care of them, then it eliminates this doubt.

I'd say, don't use the documents unless there are other strong factors you can tender and that one is just a supporting factor.
