Two Governors. Same Region. Impressive Credentials. Opposite Decisions.

One governor, a former Managing Director/CEO of one of Nigeria’s top five banks, decided to convert the newly built government house, constructed by his immediate predecessor, into a hotel. Why? He deemed it too luxurious and costly to maintain. With his background in banking, he understands cost, value, and responsible spending.

The other governor, a professor of finance and former Governor of the Central Bank, made it a priority to build a brand new, extravagant government house and even held a lavish commissioning ceremony to unveil it.

Both leaders have stellar academic and professional credentials. Both understand finance, cost, and expenditure. Yet, when faced with the same issue, they made completely different choices.

This is why educational qualification should not be the sole basis for selecting leaders.

Not all impressive credentials translate to good governance. True leadership is about values, vision, and the willingness to put the people above personal legacy.
Time reveals so much about people, obviously Alex Otti was the best thing that happened to Abia State. Only two years and results are popping up left right centre.

Namely, the state secretariat and the state library! Also, hope you know the airport is largely thanks to the huge savings Obiano inherited from his predecessor?

Please like the guy pointed out. Name one signature project he did from start to finish. Even most of the roads he constructed are all washed away asides the ones constructed by Ngige. P.Obi tried but not like the way you guys hype him abeg.

Conversion of an already built government house to hotel is not a wise thing to do,so I don't see why we should be clapping for this action. It is waste of funds.
He should have simply reconstructed the building. Now he will waste billions to build another one.

Op we should always be mindful of what we put to public for consumption.
This was press released from the state governor,The decision was made public by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, following a tour of the three-storey complex. Kanu described the structure as “uninhabitable and a security risk”, accusing the former administration of erecting what he called “an uninhabitable structure in the name of a government house,” which was hastily inaugurated 24 hours before Ikpeazu left office.
The same building that is uninhabitable is what your so called best governor is put out for to rent and sleep

All these Soludo data boys have no shame at all. Ansu Igbariam campus was built by una papa. The teaching hospital in Amaku was built by una mama. Federal sectaraiat was built by una village people.

Peter Obi attracted investors and alot of companies during his tenure and you lots struggle to mention any company attracted by Soludo since he assumed that office.
Same Soludo used Peter Obi's achievements to brag during the Governorship debate that won him the election.

(1) Inaugurate Orient Petroleum Oil.

(2) SabMiller Brewery

(3) Orange Drugs Company

(4) Krisoral Company

(5) Onitsha Inland Port

(6) 8 lanes Onitsha Head Bridge Enugu Onitsha expressway to Umunya with new parts bridge Nkpor.
Among others

Above listed are some of the triggers to economic growth of the state. I therefore state that the very statement from Soludo was demarketing of the state.

In 2010, President Jonathan visited Anambra State and commissioned:

(1) Anambra State University Teaching Hospital.

(2) Anambra State Secretariat

(3) Kenneth Dike Library

(4) Anambra State Emergency Management Complex

(5) Parental Drugs Factory of Juhel Pharmaceutical Industries

(6) so So many roads example : Zik’s Avenue Awka to Nkpor road and Bridges.

(7) the commissioning of the National Agency for Food, Drug, Administration and Control, NAFDAC’s upgraded ultra modern area quality control laboratory, at Agulu, Anambra State and many other projects.

( the commissioning of the assembly plant of the first indigenous Nigerian auto manufacturing company in Nigeria, Innoson Motor Manufacturing in Nnewi, Anambra State.

President Obasanjo had earlier visited during Peter Obi era in 2006/2007.
Projects Commissioned by President Olusegun Obasanjo are as follows:

(1) Onitsha Business Park: A strategic initiative aimed at boosting commerce and industry in the region.

(2) Revenue House in Awka: Established to improve the state's revenue collection processes.

(3) Anambra State Fire Service Headquarters in Awka: Built to enhance emergency response capabilities.

(4) Flagging off of Awka-Nibo-Nise-Enugwu Ukwu ring road

So it was sad to read Soludo said that what he said.
I have being trying to read what my governor marketed to the visiting President or what he used the opportunity to market as the chief salesman of the state by virtue of his position as the governor, but I am so disappointed with his statement which did not add any value to the state.

To be honest, both Anambra State and Abia do need new Government Houses, the ones they had are no longer fit for purpose. But resources and practicality are two different things

In Abia State, the former Governor contructed a fraud, and presented as Government house. Otti knew he couldn't function there, and decided to turn it into something else

In the case of Anambra, Soludo constructed a new Government House, and turned its inauguration into an APC rally
