This doesn’t make sense. If Ohanaeze is advocating that all candidates be awarded 300 marks regardless of merit, what message are they sending? JAMB exists to identify and select the most qualified students for admission into universities, and any society that values fairness and excellence should uphold those principles. While it is true that there was a technical glitch—an unfortunate and unprofessional occurrence—the appropriate response should be to offer a resit for the affected students, not to undermine the integrity of the entire system. There is no logic in having unqualified Igbos or Yoruba or Hausa anywhere. Society suffers collectively irrespective of ethnicity.

The whole stuff reeks of negative tribal politics from the usual suspects.

The truth is that the affected students have be wronged. The emotional and psychological trauma they faced has to be recognised. If you ever wrote jamb, then you should relate.

Again, how about the cost incurred for the jamb by the students: financial cost, time and effort.

So, does it make sense to ask these students to pay to resit the exam? Does it even make sense for Jamb to contemplate asking these students to pay to resit?.

JAMB should have manually marked the affected scores instead of doing a resit. This is a lesson for the registrar to make sure all processes are complete and signed off on. The head of the department that had issues and told the people working there not to fix but just continue though, should be fired and all the managers as well. For not bringing the issue up for resolution before releasing results.
