Each State To Recruit Between 2,000 And 5,000 Heavily Armed Forest Guards by blamingthedevil(op): 4:40pm On May 15, 2025
President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of a national forest guard system and ordered the recruitment of over 130,000 armed operatives to secure the country’s 1,129 forest reserves.

- Each state to recruit between 2,000 and 5,000 heavily armed and well-trained forest guards, depending on its financial capacity.

- The recruitment and training will be supervised by the Office of the National Security Adviser and the Ministry of Environment.

- Security agencies, traditional rulers, and community leaders will be involved in the processes.

Note: At least 11 states have operationalised forest guards, also known as forest rangers or forest security, but the plan is to arm and upscale the guards for national security efforts.

This is great. If the forests are made safe, then our security challenges will be reduced greatly.

The problem is this,it will be politicized.
That's when you will see the governor will have a certain slots, deputy governor, local government chairmen, traditional rulers, senators and other politicians will have their own slots.
Whatever little positions remaining will be shared to those who don't have connection.

Whenever Tinubu does something good and commendable, I applaud him. To be honest, I really applaud this initiative, it's a good step in the right direction.

We Igbos do not hate Bola Tinubu, we only want the best for Nigeria. We want Tinubu to lead Nigeria with honesty, sincerity of purpose and with zero corruption, nepotism and tribalism. If Tinubu does the right thing and makes Nigeria work, honestly I will become his first fan and praisesinger but don't expect me and other Igbos who cherish competence and merit to be praising Tinubu when he is failing just to make Yorubas happy, it doesn't work that way.

Well done Tinubu, please don't let this initiative be an audio one like some things you have embarked on in the past. Make it work, also hasten on the State Police, stop dragging your leg because of your selfish political interest undecided

If the man who swore an oat to protect his country keeps to his oat, security will improve tremendously.

Look at Bibi Netanyahu for instance.

This initiative reflects a proactive approach to Nigeria’s intertwined security and environmental crises.

Its success hinges on meticulous implementation, sustained funding, and balancing force with accountability.

If executed thoughtfully, it could set a precedent for other nations grappling with similar challenges.

However, overlooking governance risks could exacerbate existing tensions, underscoring the need for caution alongside ambition.
