So Anambra is the highest with 139, with other south east states following, Igbo people don suffer. Imagine going through systematic marginalization from primary school. |

These cut off mark aren't working at all especially in the west. A child must score up 192 sometimes to gain admission. |

What are the parameters they use in setting these cut off marks? And why are the marks in the south east so high? |

chatinent:What's so special about Education in Nigeria when the country itself is a grand circus! |

tunjijones:According to quotas, Guardian and their wards up North do not make Education a Priority. Rather than leave their slots vacant, they lower the cut-off mark to accommodate any olodo that ATTEMPT education. The reverse is the case down South! Two Law, two justicial system, two Educational system, two polilicing system, two border rules etc why in tarnation do we still insist on the term ONE Country?! |

SporaD8:This one Nigeria shit is messed up. Imagine some lone that all he needs to get in an exam is just 2 marks to get admission. It's those people they will later be top politicians and top civil servants that will that will make laws and policies that will govern the whole country. It will never be well with whoever decided to almagete north and south Nigeria together. It will also not be well with those that did not allow succession clause in the constitution of Nigeria. I heard it's nnamdi Azikiwe, I don't know how true that is. |

tunjijones:You have no idea how terrible the system has degenerated yet. If it's paddle canoe you can join to Cotonou Togo or Ghana, your offspring will be happy you made that decision. The plans Bandits, Bokoharam, Herdsmen etc have for the South is best image than experience! As for those who enshrined the non-negotiability of Nigeria Unity in the constitution", I wish they were alive to witness the results of their fruitless labour. Let me summarize the bolded... *Ahmadu Bello was not ready or prepared for independence. He was aware of how educational disadvantage his region was. *Nnamdi Azikwe was more than ready and prepared - his belief was that Southeast with it's aggressive competitive spirit will easily overtake and assume leadership of all Nigeria state. *Awolowo was also fully prepared but when he put the imbalance of the 3region into consideration, he insisted in a Federation where each region can develop at their own pace, and a "Secession clause" in the event any of the federating unit wanted out. Nnamdi Azikwe opposite the "Secession Clause" even went as far as forming coalition govt with Ahmadu - who at the time would rather break-away than have Southerners rule over him - and making sure any further voice of Secessionist agitators are treated as Treasonable felon! Later on, from Awolowo, to Adaka Boro, to Ojukwu Biafra declaration all suffered setbacks because of the lack of foresight of Azikwe. |

SporaD8:It's such a shame. Just one person's (zik) decision and greed will later shape the lives and livelihood of over 200 million people. I say it and I keep saying it that Nigeria will not progress with this form of government. Let's be sincere with ourselves, we are not the same kind of people, the northerners are mostly religion extremist and are not ready to get educated and cos of their population they have influence on who becomes president in a democratic settings. The central is too strong and powerful, power should be shared amongst regions, yes, we have a whole lot of strength with our population but let each region govern itself and make their own rule, manage their resources and grow at their own pace. |

tunjijones:I once watched a video clip that depicted the reality of Nigerians situation... A Group of Militant heavily armed with weapons were high on intoxicants and celebration mode. At a point, one of them carelessly handed a loaded gun to a chimpanzee nearby who obviously join in their revelry! When the Chimpanzee on cue aim the weapon, that was when realization dawn on the group as they all scampered for safety! ...the big question now is, "Who will collect the Gun and not Collect?!" What noone envisage was that Chimpanzees are virtually fast learners! After Chimpanzee has tasted a feel of power and attention, you think it will give it all up just like that?! |

I once did the analysis by Geopolitical Region and the result was a direct contrast as to those who steer Nigeria. Sorry but the bulk at the helm of affairs in Nigeria are largely not educated enough to lead. Nigeria fails because the best brains are being systematically sidelined. And they expect the best brains to be content with watching them run in meaningless circles.

tunjijones:It's true but look at his history. According to his 1973 book about his Nativity and Origin, he was born in 1904 in Zungeru, Niger State. He traced his father's and mother's lineages to Benin-City. The Ezechima (Prince Ikhimwin of Benin). His family were already in Zungeru in 1904. Ojukwu was also born in Zungeru, a major railway hub back then. His working and political life with Herbert Macauley was in Lagos. So, he felt truly Nigerian and was a true Pan-Africanist. He also did it to protect Igbo people. Igbo had been living across 9ja since the 19th century (1800s) before 9ja was even created. Igbos dominated police, civil service and other positions as at 1960. Initially, Zik wanted to pursue his political ambitions in Western Region, not East. We all know that story. So, for Zik, 9ja Unity was more beneficial to Igbo and himself back then, and he was right. But things changed, especially after the January 1966 coup, and Biafra War the following year. We are now talking with the benefit of hindsight. |
