Although I haven't taking a genotype test for obvious reasons, not withstanding you and your wife did the right thing going for a test and it's not your fault or your wife's fault there was a misdiagnosis. Every one has a part to play in the world, thank God you are not jobless and without a job , just know that this is your cross to bear. I believe they are medical ways now to stop detect SS foetus earlier but that'll be abortion indirectly.

Genotype can be changed if you believe in your CREATOR and Live daily to please HIM. You and your wife should go on 21 Days Fasting and Prayer to Request that Almighty AHAYAH ASHAR AHAYAH should Touch your child and change HIS Genotype. Even when you are not together call her on Phone and make sure you prayed together by 12:00PM and 12:00AM Daily. You will come here to share your Testimony if you follow through with this Advice. I've experienced many Real Miracles that Medical Science said it's impossible.
Nibo,do u really meant what u said or u joking ,that genotype can be changed, this world is something else

My Aunt who had Sicle cell just passed she was 78 years may Jesus rest her gentle soul.

The native treatment such as the one in Osun state with local herbs and the Hausa one where they drink water in which camel bones have been boiled inside daily is very effective in managing it.
The alternative is to be drinking Camel milk but it might not be easy to get

Calabar people are also good at managing it
They eat bitter kola at least 3 times a week to control it

He should avoid eating Chicken bones as it can aggravate it.

Before I got married, I went for a genotype test, and I was told I was AS. I was surprised because I remembered when I was very little, our family doctor told my mother then I was AA. I had to run another test from another state and it was confirmed AA. I really thank God for that because my spouse is AS. Honestly dear, I can only but imagine how sad you're feeling right now with your wife over that little child who did nothing wrong but a mistake from the medical practitioners we have. I can only pray that miracle can still happen for your child for there is no impossibility with our God. Please follow through any useful advice you can get from here with wisdom and understanding. May the Lord heal your family from this trauma.

Dear OP,

This is indeed a very sad experience and I can only imagine how you feel.

Please don't over-flog yourself. Medical Quackery is something we are yet to address in Nigeria.

Now back to the issue at hand. We will look at it from two sides:

1. If you are financially stable and really want to have healthy children with your wife in the future, then you must sign-up for preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) whenever you want a child. Do not have much children because this process isn't cheap. So maybe 2 children.

2. If you are not financially stable but you want children, then father from outside and bring it home. Also make sure your wife truly understands the situation at hand and agrees to your plan.

DO NOT DIVORCE YOUR WIFE OR MAKE HER PAY FOR WHAT SHE KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT. DO NOT TAKE A SECOND WIFE.

As for your son, love him. Just love him. Love will keep him with you for long. But please, do not act in faith and impregnate the mother again or without proper medical counselling and PGD.

I wish you all the best and may Allah help you and your family in this tough time.
You are a good man. At least you have given

Right from secondary school, there are certain test u do dat requires your genotype
Re: Confused And Heartbroken: My Son Was Diagnosed With Sickle Cell Anemia by vikstandon(m): 8:34pm On May 16, 2025
You see this child wey una don born, that's your nemesis... but a lovely one. He would bring you wealth, but you must give him all the care.

Love your wife, you can selectively have healthy babies through Preimplantation genetic diagnosis, but that would require aborting unhealthy ones.

Another option is to adopt. If you choose to father outside, fairness would also require your wife mother outside.

Pardon my expression... English language is an adopted means of communication.

He should not divorce her and not take a second wife but can father a child outside and bring home and xplain to her to understand, oga ur personality and integrity needs questioning, are u really serious? Is it not better for u to shut up? Go back and read ur writeup and come back for lecture
I was wondering the same thing about the guy as well. It's obvious he's not married yet.

There is no big deal in what has happened to you, the only mistake you make is that you are not aware of your genotype before you proceed and you did not take decisive action when you are aware of your genotype. What I will recommend you to do is this

1. As for the child that is SS genotype, you can take him to SS specialist hospital where they can give a drugs that will boost his fetal blood and he may not have most of the complications that are attached to SS child. Note that after the age of 17th years, this remedy may not be that effective again, so you are still within the safe zone

2. For the remaining children you guys will be having together, make sure you use CVS or PNI to avoid further complications. You can reach me at Adetunjioabimbola@gmail.com, if you need for advice . Not a professional advice anyway.

To be honest.. the marriage is practically over but technically not. If u can stay without trying to give birth again then u r safe but if body dey scratch u say u wan born again.... That's like waking the sleeping wahala up from sleep..1 SS patient fit make a family run dry from finances cox the cost of maintenance is too high

Peace be until the house

The second option is not necessary. The woman cannot go through the stress of taking care of SS child alone. If they can't do the first option, the guy can't also divorce because the wife alone shouldn't be the one to care of the SS child. They should stick together to take care of the SS child and look for money for option 1.

Since you love your wife save money and screen your gonad cells before fertilization. That way you can have AA babies.

You are evil and you have a mental problem..

The man obviously deceived the woman in order to marry her.

So they either divorce and he takes the child or stay married and both of them care for the child if the man plays away match then the woman too should also go and play away match with someone that is AA.

So sorry to hear about this, Sir.

With good nutrition, taking lots of fluids/water and also his recommended prophylactic medications, your son will go far. These are for a start.

He needs your support .

If your wife must have future pregnancies, consult the right specialist before you proceed.

This is not the time for blames. If anyone is to be blamed, it is the people with substandard reagents who gave you a wrong result initially.

I wish you all the best.
