You will now understand why the Igbos have the New Yam Festival . No matter the economy , the lion cannot eat grass . The lion will continue to eat the meat that it knows . Even if a tuber of yam is #20,000 naira , we will still buy it ... Odogwu bu Odogwu ... |

Brandiebird:Slave mentality! A mentality of a typical African who has been conquered by corrupt elites and politicians. The mentality of cowards, a population of over 250 million people can not rise and hold few corrupt elites who continue to mismanage their economy, who continue to inflict economic hardship, who continue to loot their destiny and collective wealth. Instead of standing up to them, instead of demanding accountability, social justice, good governance and making a mess of these corrupt political vampires, they cowed and believed that growing 4 - 10 tubers of yam in their backyard is the right mentality and solution to their problem. To you its adjustment, to you it's a smart move, it's surviving, it's whatever the government throws at us we will survive. SHAME! SOMETHING MUST BE ENDEMICALLY WRONG WITH A BLACK MAN Oya Mr smart man grow everything. cassava, corn, okro, melon, pepper, rice and beans? Is it only yam you want to grow? When I hear people like you talk like this, I remember how messed up, irreversible and hopeless Nigeria is it was in this country that a big tuber of yam was sold for 100 naira to 150 naira, why is it 7k today? Ponder and reflect. Have a good night rest! |

fineboynl:Yams are cheaper in the North. It would have been a great idea to have someone purchase them for you from here and waybill it to your end, but the cost of waybill is a setback. Over here, 5 tubers retail for 7 to 9k. |

Everyone can plant yam now. Buy a tubber, find rice or cement bags. Cut yam into pieces protect them with ashes. Plant and water every morning and evening. You'll be surprised after 8 months yams can grow so big in bags. The policies have killed Nigeria. Let everyone device ways to survive. Go on YouTube and search "Planting yams in bags" you will see several videos on it. |

columbus007:Will you stop deceiving yourself How many food items can you plant in a year? Only vegetables can work like this . The yams I planted since last year haven't grown to any mature stage and when I harvest them let's say they're 5 , how long will it take my family to finish it? No country grows on subsistent farming government have to fully and truly support large scale farming, improve security for farmer and provide cheaper means of transportation |

Unlimitk:Sweat potatoes decay faster than yam if not properly stored and are now very expensive in Lagos. The smallest you can get in Lagos now is #500. You can only buy it in large quantities if you want to eat it daily or resell it. |
