I entered a mall in Toronto to.buy coke and the amount will amaze you. Two dollar and forty nine cent ($2.49).

Using the price of 50cl Coke in Canada versus Nigerian which is about Four Hundred naira (N400), I am suspecting that the ingredients are different combination. It means the Coke sold in Nigeria malls and shop are adultereted or of less ingredients.

I have attached the receipt of the Coke for verification in case you doubt..
so u want the price of Coke in Nigeria to be same as in Canada. While monthly minimum wage (which most statr governors are not even paying) is N70,000 (61CAD) while minimum monthly wage is at least 2000 CAD.
You don't know anything about 'Cost of production?'
If coke is too cheap in Nigeria, why don't u come back yo Nigeria and continue cheap coke?

I really do not like commenting in topics like this because most times they make no single sense....That $2.49 is technically just 2 unit of their currency..can 2 units of nigerian currency buy you that anywhere in Nigeria or Canada?
a very senseless contribution

Read about a case some few years back, a man bought coca-cola in quantities and shipped abroad, thinking of the profit he's going to make, when the consignment got to the designated country, it was shipped back to Nigeria , declaring it unfit for human consumption. so the man sued coca-cola bottling company. The following conversation took place
Prosecutor:Why did you produce a substandard product for me to export, there by making me to lose my resources.
Defendant:we never knew you wanted to export it, the drinks we produce in Nigeria is made for Nigerian market and not for export.
So you see, the coca-cola might look same but not the same quality. Mind you this really happened in Nigeria, it's no fiction .
U just spoke my mind.
Re: Price Of 50cl Coke In Canada Vs Nigeria by yemre: 10:40pm On May 17, 2025
You can't compare prices like that because the economies are different! Labour cost and everything is different while the ingredients/recipe may most likely be the same.

What's the minimum wage in Canada, I don't think it's less than 14$/hr. Do the maths, 14$x40x4x1600 = N716,800. That's the minimum wage for one month in Canada when converted to your Naira while Nigerian minimum wage is less than 10%. As a matter of fact, 70000/4/5/8 comes to N437.50 which is equivalent to $0.27/hr. So, cost of coke in Nigeria is N450 and in Canada is N3700. So, now you see it's even cheaper in Canada. When next you make such comparison, take the context into consideration too.

Peace!

My woman had a course mate who is from Liberia, she said the woman used to tell them that Nigeria soft drinks are not sweet enough. She said at times the woman will buy three malta guinness, pour it in a container, then bring out sugar from her bag and pour into the malt before she will drink it.

Same malt that many Nigerians will consider too sweet.

motymop:
Also the only reason coke taste differently in Canada and Nigeria is simple. Most times, they make sure to adapt to the local taste.

The base ingredients are the same but they also try to adapt to our loca taste in terms of sweetness. Making it too sweet here in Nigeria might make them lose sales while in another country if it is not sweet they won't buy it.

It is the same way KFC in New York will have different taste from the one in Japan.

Show us the link. Exporting coke from Nigeria to where. I doubt it.
Coca-Cola has very little nutritional value, primarily consisting of sugar and calories. A 12-ounce can contains approximately 140-155 calories, mainly from sugar. It offers no essential vitamins or minerals and is considered an empty calorie beverage.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Calories: A standard 12-ounce can of Coca-Cola contains roughly 140-155 calories.
Sugars: The primary component of Coca-Cola is sugar, with a 12-ounce can containing around 37-39 grams of sugar.
Fat and Protein: Coca-Cola has negligible amounts of fat (0.9 grams) and protein (0 grams).
Other Nutrients: It contains small amounts of sodium, and trace amounts of other minerals like calcium, potassium, and iron.
Caffeine: Coca-Cola contains caffeine, which can have a stimulating effect on the body.
In essence, Coca-Cola provides energy in the form of calories, primarily from sugar, but lacks essential nutrients found in whole foods and nutrient-rich beverages.

Clowns will not understand the truth in your comment.

A bottle of coke in a supermarket in Nigeria is not less than N1000. The equivalent hourly minimum wage in Nigeria is about N295.

Stop talking nonsense. 2 units of their currency. So why are they not earning 250,000 units of their currency monthly?

The price of that should be benchmarked against the average salary there.
This is the minimum wage in Canada per hour.
Now for someone working in Canada, his hourly wage can easily buy him 8 bottles of that.
Now back in Nigeria,
Minimum wage is 70k a month
Divide with 22 working days is roughly 3k per day
Divide 3k by 8 working hours, that's roughly 400 per hour.
So answer the questions, 8 bottles to 1bottle.
Which will u go for?
At least if u want to talk, talk with sense. Not everyone is as daft as the 24people that liked this ur stupid comment

I have realized that in western countries, the smaller the volume of a soft drink the more expensive it is. The OP shouldn’t be surprised to find a 2L coke bottle cheaper than the 50cl bottle.
