We feel for you but don’t ever think of divorcing your wife. I have a cousin who had four children, two boys and two girls. The first boy had SS and the others are good, regular blood transfusion is needed until a transplant is done, make sure the hospital where the blood transfusion is done screens the blood of their donors. |

Mdcool26:you divorce your wife for what reason really?it was your genotype that was wrongly diagnosed, not hers so how is it her fault?because you are the man, you just want to take your anger and frustration out on somebody? If you divorce her, will your problem vanish over night? Finally, let say your emotions got the better of you and u divorce her, who will now cater for the child?you or her? Are you keeping the child with you or she is taking it with her? If I was the woman I will be selfish just like you, I will live the child with you coz it's yours. Oga divorce is not an option right now, stay together as a family and tackle this issue headlong. It's easier together than individually. May God be with your family, it's indeed a huge trial from God. Patience is key at this moment. |

vikstandon:40 yrs without crises? I have close relationship with people that are. For every one that lived long,20 are dead already, countless others are suffering. Lost a classmate and her elder brother to that so I know. The family put all to manage the elder brother and he did well. Trained his siblings and as he age more, more crises until he became penniless. Mum and dad are old. The married sister can do little. Her younger sis died, elder bros died. Tomorrow, yarn this story to people like her. Will you marry one? Will your company give work to one? When you live and don't know how your tomorrow will look like. Being treated like an egg. You miss out on things that make life worth living and enjoying. The everyday drug. And if it's the woman who made this mistake, the man is leaving her to remarry. Has happened countless times. Don't take about what you don't know at all. |

Mdcool26:Bro science has made it possible for you to be able to birth As with your wife without ANY STRESSFUL ABORTIONS,it's called Gene selection therapy with IVF..your sperm and wife's eggs will be fertilized and the fertilized ones who carry only AS genotype will be put back in your wife to become babies..but the process isn't cheap tho, about 7-8m for the whole process including IVF I think.. As for your son, there is an experimental cure in the UK that broke out like a year or two ago but still not available for all yet cos I guess still experimenting on it but it has cured some lucky few in the UK. I won't lie to you get ready it's going to be a very bumpy ride ahead but love your kid dearly and your wife too because it's not their fault, the blame if any should be you cos you didn't double check on your test. Wish you and your family good luck sha.. Give your kid lots of fluids and water with a good diet regularly, keep him away from mosquitoes and dirty environments cos infection of ANY kind is a potential killer,of course extreme temperatures are bad too,so always in moderate temperatures not too hot or cold,he will be fine..God will be with you |

descarado:Stop this your misinformation..the fact that you have not seen some that lived beyond 20 doesn't mean there aren't..my own uncle lived beyond 60 sef with the disease almost 67 before he passed and had his family and kids. Infact Google Asiata Onikoyi-Laguda, a 90year old Nigerian woman, probably a grandmother sef who is a sickle cell patient..Oga good management and medication and they will live far beyond 20..infact she isn't the only one just do your research on Google and stop destroying people's hope..even healthy people without Sickle cell die regularly even before hitting 20 so everyone's destiny is different. |

It's sad and unfortunate that in 2025 people still rush into marriages without necessary medical test but they're so woke about giving kids Western upbringing |

descarado:You said the family managed the ailing son, and he did well training the rest. Just that fate didn't allow them to outlive him, not that they died of sickle cell anemia. My question to you is, who do you leave the responsibility of caring for this chap now, since it was their both mistake—the mother or the father. Medically, is it possible they can both birth healthy children or be selective about the children they birth? If your answer to my second question is 90% possible... Then both should stay together and take responsibility of the product of the wrong diagnosis. |

In as much as i really feel sorry for you, I think you were a bit careless, having to depend on just one facility test was really a careless decision when you are aware your wife was AS.. if she was AA maybe you wouldn't have bothered more. I feel you should visit the healthcare facility let them advise you on what to do, but do not divorce your wife at this point, you were at fault 100% and don't let her suffer for it. |

Mdcool26:In my own opinion if both of you love yourself and you may find it difficult to separate Keep managing that child and stop giving birth as its going to be 50/50 You can go for surrogacy if you have the money, in that case it will be your sperm with another woman egg, then your wife will be the Surrogate mother With this, the female donor will be AA to match with your As and she will birth a healthy baby. Though is expensive but you have to carry out your research Another option, you guys can go for adoption If you choose to end the marriage while you have the means of doing the above two options, that child msy suffer as she too may force the child on you No one wants to see their child suffering or abandoned |
