Does it not tell you things are cheap there that you don't need to earn 250000 units to survive

And Who even told you pple don't even earn 250000 units as monthly salary there.

That same smallest coke was 50 naira not too long, check Canada the price never change in that same time frame, if it did not more that 5-10%.
Let's stop using Grammer just justified the rot in the nation
Nigeria is totally messed up
No more subsidy.
Subsidy was k!lling the economy.

The reform is a must for the good of the country. Airlines were owe, and some left.
Nigeria is making progress.

This trend is funny. People saying their coke is superior really have no concept of how world economy works. Does saying units to degrade Nigeria really have no concept of how money works. A lot of Nigerians need to go back to economy classes.

Read about a case some few years back, a man bought coca-cola in quantities and shipped abroad, thinking of the profit he's going to make, when the consignment got to the designated country, it was shipped back to Nigeria , declaring it unfit for human consumption. so the man sued coca-cola bottling company. The following conversation took place
Prosecutor:Why did you produce a substandard product for me to export, there by making me to lose my resources.
Defendant:we never knew you wanted to export it, the drinks we produce in Nigeria is made for Nigerian market and not for export.
So you see, the coca-cola might look same but not the same quality. Mind you this really happened in Nigeria, it's no fiction .
BS, if you carry Canada coke go Naija, it will be returned too.

The original post wreaks so bad, of a high level of sensationalism. Generally speaking, most items in Shoppers Drug Mart are overpriced, because that’s the strategy adapted by their parent company. Please compare pricing of this same product with what obtains at the Real Canadian Superstore, or even Food Basics, since you’re in Ontario

I entered a mall in Toronto to.buy coke and the amount will amaze you. Two dollar and forty nine cent ($2.49).

Using the price of 50cl Coke in Canada versus Nigerian which is about Four Hundred naira (N400), I am suspecting that the ingredients are different combination. It means the Coke sold in Nigeria malls and shop are adultereted or of less ingredients.

I have attached the receipt of the Coke for verification in case you doubt..
amaericans and canadians can afford a coke 2 buck..anyday anytime ok....

Stop talking nonsense. 2 units of their currency. So why are they not earning 250,000 units of their currency monthly?

The price of that should be benchmarked against the average salary there.
why about minimum? Most Nigeria monthly salary can be made in 3days if u convert

Re: Price Of 50cl Coke In Canada Vs Nigeria by bunmmy5: 9:48am On May 18, 2025
Most times i wonder where the brain of some people lies, this is a simple case. Price of products is arrived by calculating the cost of production plus current economic reality of producing same product. If an average Canadian based nigeria man earns 15$ per hour and works for 8 hours and a nigeria man within the same industry earns 100k for 30days. let do the maths: NIGERIA
Cost of Coke in Nigeria: 500 Naira. how many can he buy with N100k. 1000000÷500= 200pieces of coke.

CANADA:
15 × 8 × 30= 3600$ ÷ $2.49= 1,446pieces.

So even at the price sold in canada. The cost is far cheaper than Nigeria. Stop using exchange rate to judge things like this but the average income of people within the same industry.

you're the one not making an ounce of sense here. Currencies are rated by values, not by your so called unit.

There are many reasons why coke is expensive in some countries and why they are cheaper in another and also why they taste differently.

Why are they expensive. Production cost, tax and also logistics cost( moving them from one place to another) one important stuff is foreign exchange fluctuation when importing the base ingredients.

A 50cl coke cost around 300 naira in Canada like you write down 2.49( 400 naira)

It is obvious that cost of production will be higher in Canada than in Nigeria, wages are also lower in Nigeria.

Also the only reason coke taste differently in Canada and Nigeria is simple. Most times, they make sure to adapt to the local taste.

The base ingredients are the same but they also try to adapt to our loca taste in terms of sweetness. Making it too sweet here in Nigeria might make them lose sales while in another country if it is not sweet they won't buy it.

It is the same way KFC in New York will have different taste from the one in Japan.
smile

So you mean to tell me that Nigerians who love bitter liquid, agbo and all sorts, bitterleaf soup inclusive, have sweet tastebuds than the white?
Re: Price Of 50cl Coke In Canada Vs Nigeria by Oluwomonext212(m): 9:56am On May 18, 2025
No lies, go buy Coca Cola in even South Africa, not Europe, pour it in a glass cup and pour out Nigeria Coca-Cola in a glass cup…. With that nobody would tell you which is which anymore. I knew this since 2008 when I bought dispensed coke at Turkish airport, till the last drop the gas never faded, kept gassing until I finished drinking.

Must you be foolish?

If production cost per unit is #350 naira in Nigeria,
And production cost per unit is $1.5 in Canada,

Won't it be plausible to sell at #400 in Nigeria and $2 in Canada?

Why always rushing to senselessly compare prices across different currencies and economy?

Economics ought to be a compulsory subject at all levels.

I have reported the lies, why is he manufacturing such lies with scenarios.
dominique:
100% lies. Which country will allow you bring in goods that will interfere with the ones in their markets? They will be sizes at the airport if he landed with them. If he intended to ship them in, did he get an import licence? If he got a licence and paid all the import duties on the goods, there's no way he can sell it cheaper than market value. You think it's easy to take a mega cooperation to court? Those that successfully did had solid cases and the funds to follow through. The story is pure fiction

Here we go again with these endless PPP (purchasing power parity) arguments that spring up every six months or so.

Look Nigerians, the answer is simple. There is nothing better than a well run economy for the benefit of all. And I mean the benefit of the Nigerian in Lagos, Abuja or Onitsha and the foreigner is some far flung territory that doesn't even know we exist.

Minimum wages over there can cover ones expenses for the month, can minimum wage of 70k do same in Nigeria, won't even buy a bag of rice
