How I discovered Jude’s wife owns 80% of Northside Music, Mr P tells court

Jude Okoye, the older brother and former manager of Psquare, was granted bail on 6 March.
Peter ‘Mr P’ Okoye, one half of the now-defunct music duo P-Square, has testified against his elder brother and former manager of the group, Jude.

PREMIUM TIMES reported that Jude is standing trial alongside his company, Northside Music Ltd, on a four-count charge relating to alleged misappropriation of $1 million and £34,537.

In a statement on the EFCC X page on Saturday, the anti-graft agency disclosed that the trial, held before an Ikeja Special Offences Court, resumed on Friday.

Jude was previously granted bail for N50 million on 6 March.

At the resumed hearing before Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja, the commission presented Mr P as its first prosecution witness.

While giving evidence, the singer, led in testimony by the prosecution counsel, Mohammed Bashir, told the court that Jude’s wife, Ifeoma, owned substantial shares in Northside Music Ltd (Jude’s company).

The ‘Winning’ crooner said: “I went to the EFCC with my lawyer to submit the petition on January 22, 2024. I initially wrote Northside Music as the respondent. However, upon various investigations by the Commission, it was discovered that Jude’s wife, Ifeoma, owns the company because she owns 80 per cent of the shares. In comparison, Jude retains the remaining 20 per cent.

“I submitted the petition, and I never spoke to either Paul or Jude until early April 2024, when the EFCC asked if my twin brother was involved, and I said I did not know. The commission discovered over 47 bank accounts used by Jude to receive royalties.”

According to him, Jude was subsequently invited and detained by the EFCC following his petition.

The singer added that while Jude did not deny committing the alleged offence, Peter’s twin, Paul, also known as Rudeboy, told Peter during a meeting at the EFCC office that Jude is the majority owner of P-Square.

Mr P insisted that he was unaware of Northside Music’s establishment or of Jude’s purported ownership of P-Square.

“Paul told me Jude owns 40 per cent, while the two of us (Mr P and Rudeboy) own 30 per cent each. Ifeoma was never part of our engagement, and I was unaware that Northside Music was registered.

“Northside Music, according to my findings, was registered in 2015 and had been operating illegally, two years before our break-up”, he noted.

Following his testimony, the prosecution sought to tender the petition dated 22 January 2024.

The lead counsel for the defendants, Clement Onwuenwunor, did not object to the petition’s admissibility.

Justice Oshodi adjourned the case to 23 May for continuation of the trial.

Previous proceedings
The EFCC noted that during the previous proceedings, Mr P informed the court that he and Rudeboy began their music career in 1999.

He further testified that between 2005 and 2006, they established a company, Northside Entertainment Ltd, in which they served as directors and shareholders.

However, he stated that Jude was the sole signatory to the company’s three bank accounts, which were held by Eco Bank, First City Monument Bank (FCMB), and Zenith Bank.

The anti-graft agency quoted Mr P as saying, “They were both Naira and Dollar accounts, and Jude was the sole manager of all the accounts. In September 2017, P-Square broke up, and we came back together in November 2021. During this period, I never received any royalties from our company. Before we broke up in 2017, every royalty was paid into Northside Entertainment Ltd., where the three of us were shareholders.

“We have two aggregators (streaming platforms that generate income): I-rocking.com and Free me Digital, which I was aware of. When people play our songs on their mobile phones, it generates income: so we receive funds from these two aggregators before our split.”

According to the commission, Mr P said he pursued a solo career following the group’s breakup and hired a different manager.

“When we got back without him as our manager, I discovered that our brother ran a similar company called Northside Music. I started seeing discrepancies in how royalties were sent to me and my twin brother.

“When I went on a tour in London, some individuals approached us to ask if we would like to sell our catalogues, but they needed to see the back end. After so many attempts to get the back-end from Jude, I discovered he had tampered with the original one, making over seven companies rethink purchasing the catalogues.”

P-Square is a music group comprising three brothers, Mr P, Rudeboy, and Jude.

The group first split in 2017 but reunited in 2021. However, in August 2024, they parted ways once again.

Since then, the three brothers have been embroiled in court cases over the alleged diversion of P-Square’s funds.

I wonder how they will reconcile after all this.

Personally I think Peter took it way too far, does that mean there's no one in his extended family that he trusts and respects enough to sort their differences out?

Mod: There's a particular tribe all over my mention supporting and urging Peter on to destroy his family and all their late parents laboured for, this article above that you are reading now was written by Peter and published by his media team, that's just his personal account which is subjective and might not be the whole truth. Whatever the truth might be, I will always be against taking family feud to the public (especially feud with those you shared umbilical cord and breast milk with).

Peter should should retrace his footsteps now and seek elderly advice, there's nothing that cannot be resolved (except death) as a family. If at the end of the day Jude is found innocent it will be too late to make amends.

Once Their Voices Moved Nations. Now, Silence.

How the Fall of the P Square Brothers Became a Cautionary Tale—and a Collective Failure

By Adichie Soyinka
Daily Times
June 16, 2075

NIGERIA — There was a time, not long ago, when the P Square Brothers were more than performers. They were a movement. A twin from Anambra, their voices shaped a generation of Afro-Pop artistry with a sound that defied classification, somewhere between pop, hip-hop and R&B. Music critics compared them to the Black Keys, Daft Punk, the Everly Brothers. They sang of betrayal, money, success, and sex. People didn’t just listen—they trembled.

Now, only two brothers remains.
And they no longer sings.

The story of the Okoyes is not merely a tale of fame gone sour. It is, as many close to the trio have quietly confessed, a tragedy of inaction. A brother falsely accused. A band fractured by ego and suspicion. And a circle of mentors, managers, and cultural leaders who, when the rupture began, did not step in or worse, chose not to.

“We all saw it happening before it became public,” said a former producer who asked to remain anonymous. “The tension. The fatigue. The jealousy. But the money was good. The shows were sold out. The show must go on.”

The “show” was the P-Square brand: Jude, the eldest, with his tight control of logistics and finance; Peter, the middle brother with the energy and charismatic resonance; and Paul, the youngest, whose soulful voice left audiences in awe. Their harmonies were precise, but their brotherhood was fragile.

In 2017, feud over management, creative direction and financial discrepancy led to a private confrontation. According to documents and later interviews, Peter offhandedly suggested that Jude might have hidden funds they earned. Paul, already under strain, rejected the accusation with devastating speed.

Within years, the group was splintered. Jude disappeared from public life entirely into the records of financial criminals. Rumors placed him in Anambra, then Lagos. His managerial skills, once described as “incredible,” has not been engaged in many decades.

Though neither Paul nor Peter publicly squabbled, their careers faltered. By 2020, the Okoyes were no longer on the roster of Nigeria’s major concert halls. Their final recording—Jaiye, released post-breakup has since become an artifact than a song.

For many in the Nigerian and international music world, the silence surrounding the Okoyes’ collapse is damning.

“Where were the mentors? The impresarios? The influential traditional monarchs and elders? The government officials who paraded them at festivals?” asks Dr. Osewa Seun Jnr , professor of music ethics at the University of Ibadan. “These were young men, contended many challenges, carrying the weight of Nigerian music aiming to be globally recognized. Their artistry was divine, yes, but the public faux was also a cry for structure, for protection. And no one answered.”

In recent years, the arts community has reckoned with questions of duty not only to the art, but to the artist. The Okoyes have become a somber case study in masterclasses on group dynamics and psychological care in elite performance circles.

“We elevate artists, then abandon them when their humanity surfaces,” says Obi Mikel, a Lagos-based vocal coach who once rehearsed with the brothers in Jos. “If someone, anyone had paused the machine, demanded counseling, mediation, time… they might still be singing today.”

Peter and Paul now lives in near-obscurity in a Lagos suburb. Attempts to reach them were met with silence. In a rare 2072 interview, Peter admitted: “We were not destroyed by each other. We were destroyed by what we refused to say to each other. And by the applause we mistook for love.”

Jude’s whereabouts remain unknown.

To be honest, I just hope for God that Jude is guilty, because if he is, he'll beg his brother, they'll reconcile. But if he isn't, this is a generational feud that is brewing & Jude & his family will never forgive Peter & his family for sending their father to jail unjustly.

Jude truly has skeleton in his cupboard. If truly he has talent to manage stars, why can't he manage other music talents. They put you in charge to manage their business but you turned it to your personal property. I think Paul is not in his right sense.

How can you open another company secretly when under contract?

If the allegation is true, then that was a deliberate way to cheat his brothers.

Broda Jude why? cry

You accused your younger brother of simping to his wife and allowing her to control him 100 per cent

And yet, here are you now doing exactly the same thing, and even on a much larger terrible scale

Broda Jude why?

Hypocrisy is not good at all

And your own hypocrisy is even much worse because you are also being controlled by insane greed

Imagine having the audacity to be stealing from your younger brothers

Don't you have any shame at all?

Jude already admitted he did it but he had some excuses,Jude could have been sentenced to death if it happened in Asian countries and life imprisonment if it happened in the west
What he did is a very obvious scam and i really hope Paul doesnt know about it.
How can you scam your brothers, its beyond me
