I have always known that the President of Nigeria earns about N14m since the days of Obasanjo. And that's the top of the civil service. So if you see any civil servant or Politician BALLING just know it's side hustle or LOOTING. Most likely looting |

akwesenana:The CMDs of most Nigerian Federal hospitals earn less than 10m a year in basic salaries, this excludes their allowances though. However, that same CMD presents an annual budget and receives billions which he uses to develop the hospitals and judging from the hospital development we've seen in recent years it's safe to say the CMDs have been doing a fantastic job. Blueray and distroy were both right in their own way but I like as nobody wan gree for anybody ![]() |

KingTom:I specifically referred to CMD of a private hospital and not public hospital . Do u honestly believe the CMD of a standard private hospital in Lagos earns less than N10m as gross annual income ? You will notice he used the data of public institution and not that of a private owned hospital Your opinion as a practicing doctor will be highly appreciated |

KingTom:Thanks for this. So, in your opinion, can an average CMD afford a 15m car? |

DissTroy:I think you are confusing luxury (relatively expensive) as a word with “luxury product or item”. A gold plated water closet is a luxury item of that product line. A channel bag is a luxury handbag. An Ashluxe men underwear or other top brands underwear is a luxury underwear of that product line. To identify them, they are usually highly priced compared to similar products. A 15 million car is barely an entry level price of that product line as no brand new car cost that amount. For a car to be luxury, they have to be priced highly in that product line. Now ask yourself, can a 15 million car be compared with a Rolls Royce? |

BlueRayDick:yes na i am sure cmds of evercare, lifeline hospital redcare lagoon hospital etal all earn less than 10m per annum anyways we always hear efcc aand government official refer to seized lexus and camry as exotic cars and state government officials are notorious for grandiose shows where they dash 2003 toyotas and we have dino melaiye dashing out 1992 honda accord |

KingTom:From my experience, medical doctors make horrible administrators. They also struggle to actually lead multidisciplinary teams; I think that struggle comes from how they trained in medical school. Clinical expertise doesn’t necessary mean or translate into efficient management of daily operations. Recently, many clinical settings are now separating roles with CMDs focused primarily on clinical outcomes while COO focuses on the daily operations of the clinical/ hospital setting. |

BlueRayDick:That's why I said you're both right, in most private hospitals the owner/Founder doubles as the CMD so how on earth will he pay his staff those huge wages and then pocket something paltry for himself, when no be Jesus the Nazarene the only major difference is the CMD of the Federal Hospital has more budget money to play around with alongside revenue while the private ones rely strictly on their revenue, their salaries are miles apart |

On this thread — and across the wider NL forum — we’ve got people at all sorts of stages in life. From teenagers still living with their parents, getting ready for uni (or already in it), to fresh graduates, corpers, job seekers, newly employed peeps, and others just beginning to find their feet. Then there are the career politicians — some who graduated a decade ago or earlier and are now collecting N15 million car “gifts” — and, of course, the everyday professionals and entrepreneurs who’ve either finished uni in the last decade or long before and have genuinely earned their stripes. Naturally, each group has its own earning potential. Ideally, the older ones are more financially settled — and yes, there are even some younger, highly skilled individuals who’ve progressed quickly and are already earning serious money right here in Nigeria. I know quite a few personally. But what’s honestly irritating is seeing a child — someone who’s never worked a day in his life, never earned an honest living, and never paid a kobo in tax as a fully bodied adult male — constantly coming online to run his mouth. It’s honestly embarrassing behaviour. I mean, how do you hold others accountable when you’ve never even been accountable yourself? Ten years after graduating uni, supposedly earning money, yet you’ve never paid your fair share of tax? No be hypocrisy be that? So here’s the bottom line: live and let live. Ride your keke in your lane, and let others trek their trek jejely in peace. To each their own. You’re not Einstein or Elon Musk — you haven’t discovered, built, or accomplished anything extraordinary that others on this forum (or outside it) aren’t already doing, quietly and without fanfare. Being the loudest in the room doesn’t make you the most accomplished. Be humble — you’re just the loudest, that’s it! And that N15 million “luxury” car? That’s between you and your village people. Me and mine don’t rate it as luxury in the slightest. Not all hands are equal — that’s life. Men deal with it. Children whine about it. And just because someone like Ibime — a British man — casually calls you “mate” doesn’t mean you’re in the same league. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. We might all chat like mates on here, but let’s not mistake banter for parity. Facts. To everyone else reading this: may your keke of yesterday never become your definition of luxury tomorrow — Amen! And for those who are still saving for their first keke, or just bought one recently — even if it cost you N15 million — know that while it may not be a luxury car, it’s a solid start. These are your days of humble beginnings. May your tomorrow bring you the true luxury you dream of. Amen! By the way, this post isn’t an invitation to resume any back and forth — especially not with you, Disstroy. Any mentions from your end will be ignored going forward. |

Roland17:Many private hospitals have been using this CMD/COO method e.g Redington Healthcare group who even recently advertised for the COO position, but not a lot of Federal Hospitals have adopted this most of them still go with the traditional four man board; CMD, Director of Administration, Chairman and Vice-Chairman Medical advisory committee. The Director of administration oversees the daily operations but he/she is still answerable to the CMD. As for the bolded, getting the CMDs to agree to this arrangement will be as easy as getting National assembly members to reject new vehicles, only a forceful implementation can guarantee this. |

KingTom:Thank you doc 🙏 We have managers of companies that don’t make half of what some of these private hospitals make taking home far far above N10m annually , but someone thinks the CMD of a private hospital who doubles as CEO/COO doesn’t take home N10m. Smh 🤦♂️ |
