"Hasn't worked a day in his life..."
LOL. The same person who called me tech bro the other day.

O yeah. I work hard to earn legally so I know what everyday people earn legally, in this country. That's why I could break down with examples what doctors in private hospitals were earning like I did two weeks ago.

I just know whatever I can't afford without taking a hit to my pocket is a luxury. Because luxury means expensive.

You are being edged on by people earning less than #2 million monthly to believe a #15 million car is so cheap they can afford easily in 2025? Who exactly are we deceiving? These people work regular 9 - 5 jobs and you believe they can afford that amount easily?

Check your own posts. You are the one who has mentioned me well into last night while I ignored you to respond to others. Take your own advice.
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by DissTroy(m):
swiz123:
I think you are confusing luxury (relatively expensive) as a word with “luxury product or item”.

A gold plated water closet is a luxury item of that product line.

A channel bag is a luxury handbag.

An Ashluxe men underwear or other top brands underwear is a luxury underwear of that product line.

To identify them, they are usually highly priced compared to similar products.

A 15 million car is barely an entry level price of that product line as no brand new car cost that amount. For a car to be luxury, they have to be priced highly in that product line. Now ask yourself, can a 15 million car be compared with a Rolls Royce?
Two questions since you live in Nigeria:

1. Can you afford it in 2025 at that amount easily without your purse feeling a dip?

2. You work a regular 9 - 5 and expectedly off to work by now. Do you earn up to or more than #2 million monthly?

If both answers are no, a #15 million car is a luxury for you. That's why expensive gifts are called luxury gifts.

If there's one thing I believe then it's that, while wealth is relative, comfort is general. That's why I'd never brag with money. Not one instance on the internet where I brag about money. I'd only say I am comfortable.

I won't compare myself to a billionaire even though both of us can afford comforts.

I won't go shutting down clubs on a weekend. No. That's a luxury for me because it's expensive. Why burn out #10 million a night? That might be a regular night for the next guy, including maybe one or two on this thread. It's not for you and you know it.

But you working a capped monthly income as a salary earner and you knowing well enough you don't earn up to or more than #2 million monthly are rubbing financial shoulders with and edging the guy on Nairaland who maybe burns #5 million a night at the club? Well reality beckons on you when you log off.

Now you have to watch your words on this thread as you've already postured #15 million is so cheap.

Crazy how you think everyone here is a salary earner. I don’t work for anyone please.

I just gave you a decent explanation to correct your mistake. Many Nigerians can’t afford to use DSTV now, perhaps, I have been living in luxury for wanting to watch Chelsea matches on my TV.

If you still don’t get this layman explanation, then you are beyond me.

Okay.

Answer the question then: Do you earn up to or more than #2 million monthly?

Why are you Dangotes avoiding this question? Because you don't want to box yourself into a corner knowing it would always be referenced in the future when you are found out?

The last time I did a 9 - 5 was in December, 2019.

I've been doing my thing on contractual terms since then. Take a project, finish it, move on or get paid a retainer to manage it.

Still, #15 million is significant for me.[/quote]I just gave you a decent explanation to correct your mistake. Many Nigerians can’t afford to use DSTV now, perhaps, I have been living in luxury for wanting to watch Chelsea matches on my TV.

You still are avoiding admitting the range you earn monthly.

A governor bought you a luxury car worth N15 million—but in 2025, there’s no way he could afford that without his wallet crying for mercy, especially when he doesn’t earn more than N2 million. But hey, logic’s clearly on holiday. If the word daft ever needed a physical form, it’d be a 5.5ft quack tech bro from the Niger Delta, no question.

You don’t talk money because you don’t have any. If you did, the rest of us wouldn’t hear a moment’s peace. Maybe that’s why whatever it is you worship has left you blind and broke.

As wicked Wike would say: if e didn’t dey, e didn’t dey! No honour, no principle, no morals, no discipline, no integrity, no dignity and absolutely no MONEY.

Shalom.

If both answers are no, a #15 million car is a luxury for you. That's why expensive gifts are called luxury gifts.
I understand your point.
I get it.
You're using luxury connotatively as a synonym of expensive. Which it is.

Thing is, the term 'luxury car' is a well-defined class of automobiles.
It has a wiki page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luxury_car
Marques go out of their way to set up brands specifically for the class. Toyota and Lexus. Honda and Acura. Hyundai and Genesis.

Call an iPhone a luxury phone and you'd get puzzled looks. Call a Caviar Custom iPhone a luxury phone and it'd be grudgingly accepted.
Everyone and their grandma intuitively knows what a luxury car is. A Rolls-Royce. A Range Rover. A Porsche. A Lincoln. A Bentley.

You'd prolly defend your usage to the death.
But if you were on the other side of this, you for don tear your opps shirt.
Because it's a layup.

Again, I have to reiterate that I get your point.
This is PUNCH describing cookie-cutter cars as "luxury cars".
https://punchng.com/efcc-arrests-22-internet-fraudsters-in-edo-seizes-luxury-cars/
Much of the Nigerian media and by extension lots of Nigerians are guilty of that mischaracterization.
You're not alone in that regard.

Still, it is low-hanging fruit.
And you'd be fairly ridiculed for calling a 15m car a luxury vehicle, especially in the context of a humble brag.
Know your audience.
