In my opinion, democracy is not working for Nigeria, the NASS is not necessary, it is a waste of funds. we need another type of Government. Someone said that Nigeria is indeed a crime scene. I am begging to see it. Every organisation and political offices has become a looting avenue. people loot with reckless abandon and impunity while the masses are suffering untold hardship. Let them continue |

Brazingly carrying out corruption without fear, that is one of the higglights of this government. Creatively carrying out corruption, everyone in government is proudly corrupt because the head is brazzingly corrupt. |

iwaeda: BetterLife101:Some of you are easily carried away with big grammars. Budgit has not unraveled anything new. The so called insertions are simply constituency projects nominated by senators and House of Representatives members all over the country. APC, PDP, LP, SDP etc all got an equal share of the goodies. It is a practice that started during the Obasanjo administration and it is not going to stop anytime soon irrespective of who becomes the president. Any president that tries to stop it will simply have himself to blame as the will not just delay the passage of the budget, they will totally mutilate it. The only way to stop the budget padding is to amend the constitution and remove the power of the National Assembly to appropriate funds. Now, how do you amend the law to remove the power when it is the same National Assembly that has the power to amend the constitution? |

Reasons why legislators will continue to steal from the National Budget. 1.Statistics show that Numerous federal ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) have failed to respond to FOI requests with reports indicating that over 175 MDAs ignored such requests. 2.There is entrenched culture of secrecy within government institutions undermining the objectives of transparency and limiting citizen engagement. 3.Budget Padding: Lawmakers allegedly add bogus projects or inflate the cost of real projects, which are later awarded to cronies or used as kickback channels. 4.Executive arms or ministries allegedly offer bribes to legislators to secure favorable budget consideration or approval which are embezzled. 5.Legislators collude with budget officials to insert the same project in multiple places or replicate non-existent projects. 5.Lawmakers use family members or associates to register companies that win contracts related to budget allocations or oversight-identified projects. 6.Despite several exposés, few lawmakers are prosecuted and many return to office. This fosters a culture of impunity. |

Nigeria need to review it's constitution. What are the benefit of national assembly to the development of this country. Are they just there to sit and share money? What benefit are they adding to the development of this country. They sharing billions on yearly basis with nothing to show for it and the masses are okay with it. This country is gone truly |

The incompetent NASS didn't even have the decency to address the individual cases of padding that were raised. How can you put projects that are beyond the jurisdiction of an MDA and still have the guts to defend it as though we're all fools or sycophants |
