it was worst under Tinubu when he was governor. Fashola came and sanitized everywhere. Ambode's impact on sanitation wasn't felt because he took Fashola's glory. Sanwolu's administration is lagging behind on sanitation after starting well.
One of the major causes of dirtiness in Lagos is open defecation. If you think I'm lying, take a trip to PPL bus stop along Lagos-Badagry expressway way just before Okokomaiko. The obnoxious open defecation going on in that area calls for emergency. The defecation is right on the open area between the two roads.
The day I crossed the express road, I nearly died of suffocation.

I think Ambode suspended the then PSP operators towards the end of his 1st term and brought in a foreign company which never operated till he lost his second term bid.
This was the genesis of his problem, because he changed the PSP to a private company, who can do better, the baba sope's of lagos said he sacked all the indigenes from work, without consulting them.

Ambode stopped being governor since 2019. This man there now has spent almost 6 years as governor. Why the hell are we still blaming Ambode?

Fashola reshaped Lagos in his first 4 years. Sanwo Olu is a big failure and a mess. His appointees are bigots that do not tackle issues but rather engage in banters on twitter when called out.
You need to be in the waste management business in Lagos to really understand the impact of amboes 4y ears on the waste management system in Lagos state. I can assure you the state has not recovered from it. Infact all these still happening years later are a ripple effect of his policies.

Re: Man Compares Lagos Streets, Waste Management During Sanwo-olu, Ambode, Fashola by kedeojo(m): 10:45am On May 21, 2025
papyjaypaul:
Here is the problem. Ambode went with a Local Government manager sense to govern Lagos and this was how he tackled waste. If you remember well, within the first 100 days, he did something called tarring inner roads or something like that. His biggest mistake was to elevate local government to state government level after Fashola had created a working system as an administrator.

What is an irony is that Ambode started his public service career at Lagos State Waste Disposal Board (now LAWMA) as Accountant Grade II in November 1985. He then went on to be AG of Local Government Councils.
It was during Ambode's time the larger public got to know that the PSP contractors are political contractors too and he wanted to cancel it. They fought back.

Beyond Ambode, local government and municipalities around the world manage waste but the corrupt system we are using in Lagos and Nigeria will keep taking us back to the sewage. The state has no business managing street waste, they should do something Fashola was about to make LAWMA do until Ambode came in and changed it. If you are on third mainland, you will see LAWMA building and Fashola started talking about how to treat waste, renew and recycle. Bode should have left trash for LAWMA but the unnecessary competition to cancel Fashola caused the state problems. It was also under Ambode they stopped the monthly sanitation program, something I think Lagos really needs. At least, you would have known your neighbors on that Saturday. That exercise was a covert security exercise but we threw it into the trash in the name of freedom and making money. I feel the Rwandans saw the beauty of the sanitation exercise and now they are selling it to show how Rwanda became clean.

We went from thinking big to thinking small

This is another example of why I don't believe in the lies they tell us about master plan. If there was a plan, they would have been consistent and self correct whenever it goes wrong. What we have now is PAYG, Play As You Go.
You lied, Ambode no doubt was an amazing governor but he failed wofefully on waste management. He scrapped the PSP that worked effectively under Fashola and replace it with a foreign company who couldn't do better than the previous ones. Nothing like corruption. Always say the truth.

Waste management in Lagos has not recovered more than 5 years later, all the efforts of Fashola on this matter wiped off by a single policy.

When you go to the radio station and announce that residents shouldn't pay for waste again and they are quoting the jingle 6years later, you understand there's a problem.

Brought in one company to do the job of over 425 psp operators , and they don't even have enought trucks to start with. Came with big grammer , forgetting our terrain is tough grammer no dey do am and then within weeks we all saw that theory is different from practical.

From your response your answer is a no.

She said ambode suspened the psp operators and brought in a foreign company , you said it's untrue . I responded to what you said, what did she say that is untrue ?

Is it that ambode didn't suspend the psp operators
Or he didn't bring a foreign company

Now Visionscape (the foreign company ) operations is another thing entirely, like I said in a post above , they failed- woefully if I may add

I read her post You should understand that to most lagosians Visionscape never operated. All of us a not living in high brow areas , the lekki and ikoyis they concentrated on and even in these areas there were problems .So yes she is right to most lagosians they were never in operation. People relate to what they can see, some never saw a Visionscape truck throughout the short time they spent unlike the psps we see coming to our streets. Even in the ghetto.

When more than 70percent of residents don't feel your impact what then are you doing.

How old were you when tinubu governed lagos? Going back in time, fashola had to single-handedly get involved in clearing the seemingly unending mess. Lagos was adjudged the dirtiest state under Tinubu in 2001, despite bribing the press to say otherwise. We used to be known as centre of excellence before he became governor. Buba marwa, a neat military officer cleaned up lagos, omg! I remember operation sweep. Crime rate was also very low,.unlike when tinubu came.and introduced jeun sapo, ko tun jeun soke.

I have several reasons whenever I say tinubu didn't build lagos and he's a liar. Come to think of it, why did he lose lagos, if he's truly the architect of modern lagos? Lagos' modernisation had always been collective efforts after Pa jakande left power. Otedola tried a little but his administration was truncated. Last month, we bought a brand new transformer on our street to further boost electricity. That's the same way every individual developed their areas, tarred their streets, built their houses, etc. No security. We provided it ourselves. No portable water. Before tinubu came, there was pipe-borne water in most parts of lagos.

As I always say, Tinubu's lies can only catch those who aren't resident in lagos, not us the lagosians. If what he said was true about developing lagos, we'd have overwhelming come out to pay him back with our votes. Did it happen? The ibos they claimed caused Tinubu's loss in lagos need to be begged. In alimosho where I live, their population is less than 5% . We mainly voted obi. Alimosho is the largest LGA in nigeria by population. It also has the largest concentration of yorubas in lagos. 2027 again, it will be same scenarios cos things are even worse now than they were in.2023.
