Taraba State is one of the most affordable states to live in, with cheap housing, food, and a low cost of living.
Also, Kogi, and Bauchi are among the cheapest states.

Hi, I need some help figuring out something I’ve been contemplating.

Due to some financial difficulties, I have to relocate and I’m looking for a place in Nigeria that’s very affordable in terms of rent and general cost of living. One of my top priorities is reliable electricity and good network connectivity, as these are essential for my work and daily life.

My budget is quite limited—less than ₦100,000—so affordability is crucial.

So far, the options I’m considering include:

Osogbo, Osun State

Uyo, Akwa Ibom

Gboko, Benue State

Abakaliki, Ebonyi State

If you have any suggestions, insights, or recommendations about these places—or anywhere else that might fit my criteria—I’d really appreciate your input.

Thanks so much for your help! Uyó, Akwa ibom? Maybe you want to stay in the village

Will recommend Uyo, however get a house on the outskirts of uyo (you might not even know that you're on the outskirts due to rapid development, and most especially, live in a place where you will have a space to farm...

You can relocate to Eteo or Nowa in Rivers state. Note: Eteo or Nowa are towards the end part of Eleme LGA and the beginning of Tai LGA respectively, both communities share boundary, much steady power supply, most times been paid by the LGA chairmen(low cost power supply) good Internet network, smooth road connectivity to the city center, affordable house rent, relatively cheap food supply due to the proximity with Ogoni and Akwa-Ibom axis. Don't mind what some people are saying here, there are some places we can live with low budget and still feel the city vibes due the proximity with the city center....

boringdraw:
Jos - good weather, ok infrastructure, awesome social life, affordable food and housing

Kaduna has all you need and more.

Osogbo - just like jos in most things. Jos has better weather and social life.

Uyo - better than the two above, but way more expensive

Gboko/Abakiliki - nothing special about them.

You can also consider Enugu or Calabar. Both are more expensive than Jos but not as Uyo.
God bless u,I have learnt.

Ebonyi
Don't go to Ebonyi. house rent alone will usurp you dry.
Living in Ebonyi comes with high cost.

if you want southern region, go to Abia state(Aba) or Rivers state(remote areas) or if region is not specific, go to the north, all norther state, will offer you a safe haven with that budget except that you have to cover your head from banditry and terrorists.

One bedroom flat in Owerri world bank, works layout, ikenegbu, MCC is very cheap 100k per year.

Awka is 80k per year

Enugu 80k per year

In Aba. Abia state its 70k per year

While umuahia town is 80k per year
madam u don't no wat u r talking about
Re: Where Is The Cheapest Place To Live In Nigeria? by Love800(m): 7:51am On May 22, 2025
But there is no difference in what you are saying. You are quite right sha, but 250k in lagos is the same with 80k in Niger state(northern places). So nothing like earning higher in lagos, because that same higher is still what Niger state people earn, but cost of living gives the amount a difference, but they earn and spend the same thing!

I know you will not understand thoroughly sha.
Anyways, thanks for your time.
RandomFellow:
Uyo is not cheap, especially when we're talking about staple food.

If you want a cheap place to live, you also need to understand that you won't be earning highly too. I mean, if you earn high, chances are that you will have to spend more to live in that are.

Consider everything before making a decision. Best wishes

Which state is ifon orolu located?
sexyyoyo:
Ifon Orolu is very cheap to stay and enjoy cheap foods with affordable accommodation. Just ensure you don't stay close to Ilobu or Erin Osun due to the communal clash of recent. Though settled now. You have greater opportunity to invest and diversify in other areas of your choice and easily be able to build your own house. Thank me later because I make cool money from this town. I talk with experience despite my stay abroad for 4 years.
