“We Spent Less, Delivered More” – Governor Otti Tackles Past Administration by Metrix147(op): 10:03am On May 22, 2025
Governor Of Abia State, Dr.Alex Otti has stated that the previous administration under Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu spent more money on the Port Harcourt Road project without delivering results than his government did to successfully reconstruct and complete the road, ABN TV reports.

Speaking during a Thanksgiving event tagged ‘Promise Kept Carnival’ organized by the Aba community at Umuagbai Secondary School along Port Harcourt Road, Governor Otti emphasized the contrast between both administrations in terms of fiscal responsibility and performance.

“In 2017, they awarded this Port Harcourt Road project for N9.8 billion, and the entire amount was paid. But the road was not done,” Otti said. “Fast forward to 2025, the project cost N36.5 billion, and suddenly, they began making noise.”

He explained that a closer look at the figures based on prevailing exchange rates exposes the truth. “The average exchange rate in 2017 was N333 to a dollar, meaning that N9.8 billion was equivalent to USD29 million. In 2025, with an exchange rate of N1,600, N36.5 billion is about USD22.8 million.”

The Governor asked a rhetorical question to drive home his point: “USD29 million and USD22 million, which one is higher?” He concluded, “In 2017, USD29 million was spent and no road was done. In 2025, USD22 million was spent, and a standard road is delivered and ready for use.”

Governor Otti said his administration prefers to respond to critics with performance rather than words, stressing that the completed road stands as evidence of responsible governance and commitment to public infrastructure.

After 15 years as a member of Nairaland, I finally managed to be the second commenter shocked. I dedicate this small moment in honour and remembrance of the gallant officers who have lost their lives unjustly in Nigeria. May their sacrifices never be forgotten.

Nigerian demonic politicians and Nigerians make him look like a superhero.

The politicians because they make leadership seem like rocket science, the people for accepting mediocrity and lacking the balls to confront them.

This type of news itches the EFCC chairman's ears. He hates good things and prefer yahoo boys. Only his time, we saw our hallowed EFCC turned into a ridicule. He only goes after those that are happy that they sprayed naira. Who will believe that Ikpeazu is a free man without a single case against him?

You didn't dispense kerosene because you know the actual needs of the masses. That's what we're saying. We need more of the masses-oriented leaders across Nigeria. Nigeria isn't difficult to govern , provided the masses can stop being manipulated by these greedy and selfish politicians.

How can a governor or a law maker who won under a particular political party, supported by the masses cos the masses adopted that party as theirs, defect to another party without consulting the citizens of that state he governs who massively voted them willingly, on why he defected but the citizens would only hear of the defection on tv and inside newspapers.

Isn't that an open embarrassment to the concerned voters?

If this failure glaring to the drad look like a hero to you I wonder what you will say to the likes of Dapo Abiodun who as completed over 10 times each an any project Alex Otti embarked upon.

Be it road bridges housing Airport education security just name it make wr no talk about Sanwolu who should have completed times 100 the KM of road Alex Otti can ever dream of even if he governs Abia for a life time.

Let us not imclude rail, seaport or housing. Una go just they hype failure out of bigotry
.

Have you petitioned to efcc? Do you think that efcc acts without petition? If they go after Ikpeazu, you will be the number one to fly tribal flag and marginalization. Is Ikpeazu not a member of PDP? Hatred drains reason.

Someone who has been in the dark for years will celebrate any light that comes his way even if na light from fire flies. He doesn't compare his reality with that of those that have been living in the sun. Is otti taking the right steps? YES. Has he done close to what dapo did in his first two years of office? You have Ur answer. The thread is about the former and not the latter
Re: “We Spent Less, Delivered More” – Governor Otti Tackles Past Administration by UpaIweka: 5:09pm On May 22, 2025
That is because you do not know almost all Dapo accimplished were done in his first two years to gain reelection yet he nearly lost.

Alex Otti as not accomplish qaurter what Dapo achieved in his first two years n he will not accimplish half of it after his 4 years.

As we speak Otti is yet to build a single house talkmpre of several housing estate that already built by his two years.

Alex Otti is yet to initiate a single bridge construction, an airport etc bro no waste your time. Dapo is a failure Alex Otti is a grand n colossal failure and an excessively foolish gov. Make ypu not de waste my time own who is a bigger failure, Alex Otti clearly is winning in term of of project execution. After his 8 years ypu will see he can never accomplish half of Dapo achievement.
