Does the 10% cover both legal and agreement (commission)? Or is it 10% commission and 10% legal, making everything 20%?

Secondly, is there still a place for Caution Fee?

I was shocked when our office cleaner told me she paid 350k for a room in Agege. Yearly rent is 120k that fair, Crazy part Agent fee 100k, agreement 100k am very sure it one tiny receipt they will cut for her, damages 30k for house that is most likely be leaking when raining. Before the house search she don pay 10k for agent form omo I just weak.

Pay the money, take the landlord to court with your receipts, win the case and live rent-free in his house till you pack out

Yes, I am aware, but the whole law also covers landlords charging annually, it's being changed to monthly charges. Kindly do your research.

As we're talking about landlords, let's remember some tenants are also irresponsible. Some won't pay after 3 months.

She earns 90k per month and am sure the stipend she gets from staffs per week is upto 5k or more. Me personally I give between 1-3k every Fridays except if I didn’t go to work.

Nobody ask them to build 1million, even if they can build 100 units it will go a long way. Read to comprehend, government can not tell landlords to bring price of rent down when houses are scarce, build more, compete to bring down prices.

They should force price of building material down so Nigerians can own their homes.... Useless government

The best way to start the process of enforcement is by inserting into the tenancy law the mandatory issuance of receipts for all tenancy transactions - rent, agreement, agent fee, caution fee, etc.

10% has been the legally known agent fee for a very long time, asking for a lower rate is irresponsible and selfish. Many times the 10% is even shared between 4 or 5 people, depending on how long the link is

That government body has action. I used them some years back to intervene in a case with my Landlord.

If you report an agent, they will charge them to court.

That's why they increased Nigerian passport from 100k to 200k but no one can stop them.
It is private citizen that they will be doing all manner.
