Theflint1:Why are you there? For 20m in that small space, they are trying. Most importantly, they have built a sustainable economy and revenue streams that can feed one million people well. The ambition to be part of that 1 million is why the other 19 million people are there. They come from States that can only feed 50,000 people well. |

Ibime:You're always ready to defend Tinubu. Even if you dey perform your manly duties for house, and you hear say them sub tinubu, you go leave your duties come defend am. Irrespective of what I say, you won't agree. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Theflint1(m): 9:19am On May 23, 2025 |
Ibime:Excuses. People were migrating to Lagos before Tinubu even thought to take night bus there. I simply stated that since 1999, Tinubu is arguably the worst governor in Lagos' history, and he ran the worst version of the city and did so right till the end of his tenure. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by TemporaryHansel(m): 9:23am On May 23, 2025 |
Theflint1:People were already migrating to Lagos before Tinubu was even born. Don't forget lagos was a two time Federal capital. Comparing Lagos to other states will never make sense until you give the other states the kind of headstart and opportunities Lagos has had over the time. |

Theflint1:The article even corroborates what Elder said in his post. Elder claimed there was already infrastructures and national presence in Lagos before Tinubu's tenure . The article says Lagos was orderly until 1990s when the town planners left for Abuja. The article further pointed out that the 1970s oil boom under the military government affected Lagos positively in the sense that major infrastructures like Eko bridge and Third mainland bridge was built while the already existing carter bridge was re-built, among others. The article only blamed the military governments between 1970s to the late 1990s for lack of planning. The same article still blamed the current democratic government for making Lagos to remain deplorable, rowdy, unsanitary, and a city of the urban poor. NB: No be talk all these things, na inside that same article dem write am. Anyways ,make I sit down read the incoming revisionism that may last the whole day. ![]() |

Theflint1:Lagos population has quadrupled since FCT was moved to Abuja. Nigeria population by comparison has only 2.5x. Una dey rush am. Lagos contributed 10% of Nigerias GDP in 1991 when FCT was moved to Abuja, today it contributes 35%. So clearly the acceleration in growth has been outside the ambit of FCT designation. Tinubu was only the start of Government. FASH. Ambode and Sanwo are his continuum along the system he created. When Tinubu was building an economy, your principal was buying share in beer factory that's why Anambrarians are running to Lagos today. There is no comparison in performance. Lagos stands alone as the only State that can function independently and is a net contributor to Federal Government coffers, one of the reasons all your useless State Governors were mad at VAT remittance changes recently. In 1980s and 1990s, the whole of Lekki was swamp, today they built it out so you can bring money from your useless states to come and live and grow their economy. In 1990s we used to fear going to Lagos but had to out of necessity as it was the only Southern Airport that flew out of Nigeria. They always warn us then to go straight to airport to avoid agberos that Lagos is teeming with agberos. When we arrive Lagos, we dare not even go buy Suya without being accosted. All those agberos were turned into productive citizens in a tax collection system while states with much fewer agberos in the 1990s saw their bad boys turn into militants, kidnappers and bandits. That is vision. |

People who supported Tinubu because he “developed Lagos” will always be a case study in unserious logic. Now Ibime’s here calling Lagos a small state, and I’m like, exactly! If Lagos is small, then Tinubu’s so-called “success” was in a manageable sandbox. How did anyone in their right mind think a man who only juggled a “small Lagos” could magically transform the entire chaos that is Nigeria? Let’s be honest: Tinubu can't develop Osun State if you hand it to him as a governor. His development can only happen in Lagos, and we all know why. But hey, keep chanting “he built Lagos” it’s cute watching delusion wear agbada. |

TemporaryHansel:It's a small land, only 60% of the size of Ebonyi State with 20m people living there. Try developing infrastructure, transport, waste management in such small space to cater for so many people. Go back to your state and let them breathe, instead you came to profit from what they are building and talking rubbish. |

Ibime:According to Wikipedia, Lagos' population in 1991 was 5.2M persons, and in 2025 it is 17.2M persons, that's like 2.3X population growth and not the 4X you allege...Lagos' population is not growing any more than Nigeria's average population, and I'd harangue a guess that there'd be at least 10 states that have since 1991 experienced a larger percentage growth in population than Lagos. My point remains, how was Lagos pre-Tinubu, and how was Lagos at the end of Tinubu's tenure, leave how other governors performed and critique Tinubu on his role as administrator while he governed. Lagos was independently administered by the Colonial masters before almagamation, which implies that way before Tinubu, it's a region that could have managed its affairs independently. If Tinubu was governor of Osun State, and not Lagos, can you beat your chest and say Osun state would have today become a destination of choice in Nigeria? Big cities are big cities and they'd always be choice destinations...the governors of New York and California would always execute the biggest projects, doesn't necessarily mean they're pound-for-pound the best administrators. Tinubu is president of Nigeria today, how has he fared? |

Trevor012:Facts. Opposition needs to decide where they stand. Do you want to dethrone this APC or not? To dethrone APC, u believe atiku/obi ticket will do it even though atiku may become another tinubu. I rather dethrone this APC that has cost so much pain to Nigeria and gamble on a Atiku, who might also be terrible. It's better to send message to underperforming presidents that they can be Removed if they misbehave than be arguing if atiku will be a a good or bad president. If Atiku mess up too as president, come back together and join forces and send him to retirement too. Nigerians need to have that absolute power to change governors and president as it pleases us, and watch them sit up. |

Theflint1:What is 17.2m/5.2m At least your STEM brain should tell you there are three 5s in 15 so there cannot be only two 5s in 17 Nigeria 229/89 is 2.6x vs Lagos 17.2/5.2 is 3.3x to be clear using official figures. I was using the oft cited 20m and I believe official figures for Lagos are untracked and underreported while Nigeria population is overinflated. Theflint1:Good leadership is by maximising your competitive advantage and among all State Governors since 1999, none has grasped the concept of maximising his state advantage like Tinubu. Lagos advantage is it's international airport, it's port and it's headquartering of financial institutions. To maximise such an advantage requires clear tax and financial structures, security, business tourism and infrastructure where those financial institutions are located. He provided that and more such that there has been no bleed to Abuja like there was in the 1990s, rather Capital flight to Lagos from all corners of Nigeria and abroad. This is someone who has studied economics and financial management and enacted strategies to make his state the go to destination for capital, while your typical Nigerian Governor was setting up "structure" to include suppression, assassination squads, persecution of rivals and seizing of property to make their states unattractive to capital. If Tinubu was typical, Lagos will stay contributing 10% of GDP like it was in the 1990s, not 35% you find it now. Using your core advantages requires foresight. Dubai and Qatar are not stupid to focus on airlines and tourism. They are strategically located exactly halfway between two trading behemoths, Europe and East Asia and their strategy is centred around people needing to break up the journey between those destinations, hence they started with airlines and airport hubs. Everything you are seeing today is a direct descendant of that strategy. In some cases, planes cannot fly direct without stopping and they are a perfect stopping point, and from there they extended the packages to tourism and financial services. That is vision which none of their neighbours were able to grasp. Saudi is only trying to grasp it now. Saddam was too busy fighting with his oil wealth when Dubai were building out their strategy, same way your state Governor was deploying militants and fighting opps when Tinubu was building out. What is your state competitive advantage and how did your Governor capitalise on it. Let's take Onitsha as a market town with Obi, or Rivers State and Delta States with their oil facilities. Did Odili cut out a portion of Rivers State for oil coys and incentivise them to headquarter or was he busy arming Ateke to finish his opps and adding to the insecurity that drove them to Lagos? |

Ibime:You said Lagos's population has quadrupled since 1991, implying a 400% population growth, using your STEM brain only, how did you arrive at that number? And is Lagos the only state that has enjoyed that sort of percentage growth? |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Ibime(m): 10:47am On May 23, 2025 |
Theflint1:20/5, should be simple since I've been calling 20 since And by the way a 4x is 300% growth, not 400%, Mr STEM |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Theflint1(m): 10:52am On May 23, 2025 |
Ibime:Semantics it is then, but the point is Lagos isn't doing any population growth that's significantly different from Nigeria's average population growth, 2.6X and 3.3X not some crazy difference so let's die that talk of Lagos bearing Nigeria's entire population growth and migration burden. |
