Pharmacy Graduate Dismissed For Refusing To Sell Diazepam by Chilipepper(op): 7:43pm On May 26, 2025
Pharmacy graduate cries out after being dismissed for refusing to sell Diazepam without a doctor’s prescription — ‘I was only doing the right thing’.

OBIANUJUAKU (@obianuju_pc) wrote:

Let it be known that i was dismissed from my job for doing the right thing.

For refusing to engage in unethical practices.

Especially prescribing and selling control drugs as sleeping pills without a doctor’s prescription.

A patient walked in on Saturday, asking for Diazepam. I requested for prescription, he had none.

“Who placed you on the medication” ? he said my boss gave him 4 doses already and he came back for more becos he couldn’t sleep.

I refused to give him, today i was asked to quit.

Pharmacy graduate is not yet a fully Licensed Pharmacist but trainee Pharmacist. By law, she's yet to be a full employee and meant to act under Supervision of a Licensed Pharmacist.

Even as a rookie, she knows what to do for this kind of thing. Putting this on social media, if true, is not the way to go. She is meant to log it in and report the incident to the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN).

She was probably fired for something else but using this to get back at the organization since she's aware of their unethical practices.

Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria ( PSN) is the first and oldest professional body in Nigeria. They guide their reputation seriously.
Pharmacy training and practice in Nigeria is highly rigorous and Top notch. Nigerian Pharmacists occupy a prime role of ensuring that the Nigerian health sector didn't and will not collapse. That's why you can hardly ever find substandard made in Nigeria Pharmaceutical products.

As drug experts, they will rather close down their professional practice than push substandard medicines to the public. That's how intense their training guide the way they look at their obligation to their patients and public. If this report is true, PCN will not spare the pharmacy practice License holder.

Oakenshield:
she said her sack was as a result of her not selling a controlled drug that must come from a doctor. If the guy dies same oga will come to the pharmacy and blame the girl for selling it to him. So for your write up makes no sense
Smh. It's obvious that you don't comprehend the issue. Never mind., it's beyond you. If she has her facts and can stand scrutiny, she should take it to PCN. It's ignorant contributions from laymen like you that she should have considered to avoid before making it a social media affair. This her matter will be better handled by PCN

No be Naija

Your Boss is a packaged drug dealer

We don't have regulators in Naija. In western world, they will move in to investigate and your boss license will be revoked forever.

But hey, even regulators will read this and keep scrolling. When we say All is not well with Naija people will think we are hating

This same issue of changing narrative is why she put it on social media because after said and done she can't trust the system or PCN to protect her

How did you come to this conclusion?

Nigeria is a funny place because it's like people just live to support bad things for reasons we don't know yet.
Prescribing a powerful medication 5 times to a patient without prescription is quite reckless. I don't think doctors will load you full of meds before recommending other methods to improve sleep.

Her boss must be a criminal.

I won't be surprised if she(her boss) is aiding criminals in nefarious activities including rape and use of hard drugs to endanger the lives of people out there.

What will the PCN do to his employer to save the public from the evil that comes this kind of unethical practices.
