I recently joined a Nigerian firm just four months ago, but I’m concerned that the short period may not convincingly demonstrate my strong ties to my home country. What would you advise?

Godgivenchild:
Yeah, a serious red flag, especially if you were not able to defend using a US company financial statement. Your reasons might be genuine, but in Nigeria? It is what it is!

Just be aware that you’ll have to defend any changes made to your previously used DS-160, as they still have those records. So, you need to be very careful with any minor or major adjustments you plan to make. Ensure you have a strong, genuine reason for any changes, and hopefully, you'll get a VO who’s willing to listen and give you the benefit of the doubt.

Then there’s no way I could have that type of tie I graduated from school last year
** If you are a fresh graduate and under dependency age then you do not need to proof all physical ties. There are abstract ties which fresh graduates or younger applicants can proof ie proof of funds/sponsor , academic standings/abilities, genuine intention, proof of family (father, mother & siblings) to return to, lack of criminal records , and social media participation/activities (new) etc. 👍

I have a question please.

My preappproval request after payment has been pending over for over one month. I raised a ticket and they responded that there is no timeline to the duration of the preapproval. What can I do please?
Hello Dolls.
Fill a new Ds-160 completely and submit. Print out your Form I -20 and date-sign it. Then use the copies of these together with your SEVIS fee payment receipt and MRV payment receipt to send an email (not ticket raising) to the embassy and copy AVITS AMENTUM. 👍

Okay. If adding the new job won’t have any significant impact on your overall profile and previous application, you can leave things as they are. However, if you believe it would, then include it, as it will also form part of your response when asked about any changes since your last visit.

Hello everyone,

Please who has changed their location on Avits portal recently? I'm getting conflicting information. Someone said I have to pay another Mrv fee if I want to change my location.

I chose Lagos but I want to change to Abuja.

Note: I've not submitted my DS-160
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by Godgivenchild: 9:55pm On May 22, 2025
You don't need to pay any MRV fee to change your interview location. You can go through the previous threads This issue has been trashed.

Thank you for your response. I know the question has been trashed but things are changing. Which was why I asked if anyone has done it recently. I want to be sure as someone said they were asked to pay another mrv and reschedule because they changed locations. I just want to be sure. Thank you again.
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by Godgivenchild: 10:20pm On May 22, 2025
UWC. The person was not asked to pay another MRV fee because of a change in location, but because they had exhausted the five allowed reschedule attempts.

Had my interview on the 21st of May, 2025
Profile
Msc - Construction management
Coa - 44,414
Deficit - 4,977
F1 and f2
But i was the only one that attended the interview
Interviewed by bald young man.

1) how many schools did I apply to
2) why this university
3) how did you get to meet your PI
4) Why are you a professional and a researcher.

Denied.

Looking to allow apply again but now without my spouse and firming up on my hometies

None of my answers indicated home ties. I think that was the issue.

Any help will be appreciated.

You have to provide the answers that you gave to those questions asked for better insight. Also, you will need to perfect your profile, transcript and also attend some mock interviews.

What school did you apply to?

It appears the VO was not convinced with the content of your DS-160 even before your interview, these things ties together. Your career history, previous education must establish a connection to your proposed endeavor, how you present yourself intellectually ring bells.

Sources of funding on your I-20 has been scrutinized to come to that conclusion. From Theatre Arts to MBA? how many years of work experience do you have? what industry do you work, what is your role and level? and monthly renumeration? Why is your mum the sole sponsor? how does this degree benefits you and your sponsor? how many siblings do you have? does this MBA degree has a concentration in theatre arts or adjacent field? MBA is not cheap...so the VO has a ground for refusal.
I would like to reapply again please who can hhelp me out on what to do to increase my chances

Good afternoon guys. Please I need directions.

I want to book my appointment date through the Coted'Ivoire embassy and more importantly so I could also request an expedited date.

Now the challenge is, for Cote d'Ivoire, the conditions are that one must be a

resident or
a citizen

Now did you resolve yhsu issue?
Facing similar issue currently.

to qualify for an F1 expedited date.

Whereas those conditions are not that stringent in Nigeria and my sole aim is just to be able to apply and request for an expedited date as my school resumes in January 2025

So, please anyone with suggestions on the best option in this regard?

Hello.
I want to humbly dispute the information that an F1 expedite (emergency) appointment request/approval is only given to Ivorians or Côte d'Ivoire citizens or permanent residents.

In the attached piece, the official AVITS website in
Côte d'Ivoire is explaining the Ds-160 barcode instructions to Ivorians and mentioning Nigeria as it shows that many Nigerians are or have attended visa interviews in the country.

Nigeria cannot say we are giving F1 expedite priority to only Nigerians if you are attending F1 interview in Abuja/Lagos and neither can Ghana or
Côte d'Ivoire say the same because the United States of America is the absolute authority on their appointment scheduling and the rules is almost the same in all countries regardless of your citizenship. The rest countries are just the hosts.

NOTE: F1- visa applicants are free to apply in 3rd countries in searching for an appointment date if there is proof of unavailability of date in their original countries, and they are qualified for expedite appointment providing that they have done the necessary.
You however seems to be doing something wrong.

However, i will accept a reliable correction if it's a new rule. 👍

** I can use my brain effectively based on the U.S visa application rules and policies which i have been conversant with for the past 20 years. I repeat, all F1 visa applicants are 100% of the time qualified for emergency appointment. You have done something wrong. If you have a reliable source for your claim that only cote d'ivoire citizens or permanent residents have the priority of F1 emergency appointment you can post it. That time i will accept your claim otherwise it's your imagination.

Hello Inzhagi.
Visa officer will not utter such a direct visa issuing expo or secret or idea because it's against the ethic as such officer can be penalized.

Your family actually did not heard the officer very well. ** What the officer actually complained about was that (on looking at their F2 I 20s) your full funding did not indicate or included dependency coverage.

** Visa officers knows that your funding is under a rigid policy which is initially based on external grants received by your university/department so it cannot be increased overnight.

Why feeling stuck ? Your wife and the children are your best ties which serves as your reason of return. Or have you forgotten telling that to the consular or indicating it in your ds-160 prior to your visa issuing ? )

** Change your storyline. Your family can visit during your graduation (B1/B2) , during yuletide (Xmas) , etc. Their current F2 I 20s cannot take them across as they cannot display enough personal funds to the consular and they (your wife and the two children) does not have their own ties. 👍

@Izanghi,

Please disregard this comment.

Izanghi:
That is what the VO said, my colleague who went home to renew his visa early this year was also told that while his visa was renewed and his dependents were denied. The visa officer said, "tell your school to increase your funding to cover your dependents".

When I also did my interview, I was asked if my wife will be coming to visit me and I told them categorically that Yes she will be coming to visit me.
What is on their I20? Did it include their own funds? How did they say their part will be covered? This is the part I think should be addressed.

Good morning everyone

Please I want to ask, if one updates the DS 160 due to some mistakes and resubmit.

Will the visa officer have access to the old DS160 or information on the day of interview?

Hello everyone question please, I’m filling out my DS 160 form for my F1 visa interview( undergraduate ), I’ve been denied a visiting visa when I went with my dad a year ago. Do I fill that I have been denied a visa before under the question have you been refused a visa ?or do I pick no and be silent about it

They can if they want to — but you should file a ticket before you go for your interview to merge old and new together.
