The size of all those major cities added together may be like tge size of urban Ibadan or may be just a little more and still below the metropoltam Lagos. I don't think having all the land for real estate is the best and won't encourage that for the Southwest except for two to three cities that may be necessary to relieve Lagos state.

More importantly for cities are their economic structure and sustainability. Having real estates without economic values does not amount to actual developments required of a growing economy.

I think Southeast should watch that type of cornubation that will reserve few places for agriculture and other activities.

However the Igbo has benefitted from Nigeria more, access to huge market, sales approach that rakes in millions with little taxes due to structure system of running largely informal outlets, allocations from federal government which finance infrastructures, contractors, big men access to contracts and investments outside of Southeast( oil and gas, constructions etc) saying all development are private is a joke and flat lie from hell. I think post war reconstructions and federal money play huge roles as part of such developments. Believe you me, other places in Nigeria are also developed; kaduna, Kano, Sokoto, Jos etc are developed by Nigerian standard. Stop thinking you are the king of the jungle if you haven't hunted an antelope, be humble.

I believe many of you on social media are young.
The % of urban centres in Singapore and US cannot be the same because of landmass. So is Southeast and Ogun state. How many states in the east can you find in ogun state may be two or three and the east is more populated per square km.
No ethnic group can boast that they didn't benefit from govt haha. Many large buildings you see in kano, ibadan , porthacourt etc are owned by corporates, corporates are owned by people. Apart from FCT where many of their building are govt offices business owner own them and people own those businesses, i hope you get it.

Does this explain the decaying cities around you? Anambra's population is equal to Ogun population yet you can't compare the 2 in civil development of their cities. Same applies to others states.

Let's just assume that the South East is about the size of Oyo State. What they are doing in that South East speaks for its self. Outside Lagos, no other city has the highest number of story buildings than Onitsha

The question South Westerners should ask themselves is why is it that beyond Lagos that was capital of Nigeria for 80 years, and Ibadan that was capital of the old Western Region and now capital of Oyo, they have no cities worthy of note?

Aba, Nnewi and Onitsha are cities, they have never been capital of anywhere. The fact that the South West has so much land should have been a golden opportunity to show their development power. Yet if they are asked were they made a noteworthy place that was never capital, they will tell you Sango-otta

From Iseyin to Ibadan is 2 hours ( wetin still remain for oyo again?) while from nsukka to Enugu town is 2 hours if not more that’s Enugu state alone, even at that Igbos doesn’t boast about empty size but capacity and capability. Go to Middle East and see how Isreal the size of Enugu state put the entire Middle East in fear , with exception of America and China most of the countries world powers today are not big in size

Having storied buildings is not totally a sign of development. Ratio of population to land availability may determine it. Southwesterners might use an acre of land to build a bungalow and still be fine with it.

Mind you, there's no state in SE that is as industrialised as Oyo state, while Ogun state is more industrialised than the entire SE states combined. I haven't mentioned Lagos yet.

The only reason this is possible is because the whole of SE, available to about 40million ndigbos, is about the size of Oyo state.
Imagine if the whole of Yoruba is confined in Oyo state. All the people, infrastructure, industrial and residential estates in the SW concentrated in Oyo state. Imagine all the old wealth (Da Rocha, Odutolas, Fajemirokuns, Okunowos, Kukus, MKO, Adebisis etc) and current wealth (Adenugas, Alakijas, Tinubus, Kensingtons, Okoyas, Adelekes, Otedolas etc) with all the religious and educational institutions etc are all in Oyo state. SW would have turned to one mega city, and probably the biggest in the world.
You will just discover that your living room is in Lagos State while your bedroom falls within Ogun state. Or you and your girlfriend strolling down the street and you just discover that while you're walking on the Osun state side of the road, your girlfriend is on Ekiti state side.

From Arepo - Mowe - Magboro - Ibafo - Sagamu- Iperu - Ode Remo etc is more urbanized and developed than the whole of Imo State combined.

Ogun state land size is 16,980.55 km2 (6,556.23 sq mi) and is 10.5% built up. More than 3 times bugger than Ogun State.

Imo state land size is 5,530 km2 (2,140 sq mi) and is 23.5% built up.

Ogun state is more than 3 times bigger than Imo state.

If we put the 23.5% built up area of Imo state into Ogun state, Ogun state will turn to forest but if we put 10.5% of Ogun state built up area into Imo state, Imo state will have no space to host Ogun state built up area.
