mandarin:You obviously have never lived in the southeast, The southeast has Oil and gas........! However, the federal government has not done much in terms of uplifting the southeast......this is the truth! |

Eboofa:I have been to the southeast. I can't say the oil economy can really help to provide forex like the Niger Delta. The southest must leave spaces for agriculture and other activities. With the land size, its important that the ecosystem is balanced. As of today, not a concern but if it goes on this rate it can become a problem in the future. I believe comparing southeast with other regions in Nigeria can be difficult, built up areas in southeast if packed together can't reach Lagos & Ibadan put together. Many of those cities and towns are small in sizes. May be some people can help us place developed ibadan areas inside Anambra so that you can see the extent or put Kano or Kaduna. If you move further and put areas with modern buildings side by side what you are shouting of may be smaller in sizes. I laugh when you say only igbo people built their cities through their own sweat and all others were built with government money, what do you do with all your states and local governments allocations, who tarred the road to your villlage is it not the govt money, even the wealthy ones that may do community development by providing some infrastructure where are they getting the money from, space? Am saying my people from southeast benefit from Nigeria alot more through systematic economic structure that enabled them to gain so much from Nigeria. |

helinues:Stop deceiving yourself. Since 1970, the development in the East was never powered by government support. Na dem set build their land themselves. There is a reason why Imo is 38% urbanised but Ogun, and Ekiti are less than 10% urbanised. Without government support, we monarchical Yorubas would have mud houses littered everywhere all over our capitals, like we have in Ibadan. Who see truth make him talk, truth is like agbo jedi, e bitter but e no dey kill.. ![]() |

Dalohad:I believe many of you on social media are young. The % of urban centres in Singapore and US cannot be the same because of landmass. So is Southeast and Ogun state. How many states in the east can you find in ogun state may be two or three and the east is more populated per square km. No ethnic group can boast that they didn't benefit from govt haha. Many large buildings you see in kano, ibadan , porthacourt etc are owned by corporates, corporates are owned by people. Apart from FCT where many of their building are govt offices business owner own them and people own those businesses, i hope you get it. |

mandarin:I am far older and intelligent than you are. You can bet on it. Ekiti is a small state in landmass compared to Anambra, yet it's urbanisation rate is less 10%, while Anambra is 38%. I thought we usually mock Ibos as 'developers' who cannot develop their lands? We Yorubas run away from our villages, leaving it to rot, yet we have the temerity to point to other Nigerians asking them 'leave Lagos' because of the its level of development which was made possible by the presence of other ethnicities who have been there for more than 100 years. |

gidgiddy:Having storied buildings is not totally a sign of development. Ratio of population to land availability may determine it. Southwesterners might use an acre of land to build a bungalow and still be fine with it. Mind you, there's no state in SE that is as industrialised as Oyo state, while Ogun state is more industrialised than the entire SE states combined. I haven't mentioned Lagos yet. |

rinzaugustine:If it takes you 2hrs to travel from Nsuka to Onitsha, a less than 60KM distance, then something is wrong somewhere. The development/infrastructure you want to claim here might not be available afterall. |

Dalohad:What a joker? Imo more urbanized than Ogun state with 7 to 8 cities? Abeokuta is more urbanized and developed than Owerri. Apart from Owerri which city dey Imo state? Is it Orlu and Okigwe? ![]() Ogun has Abeokuta, Mowe/Ibafo, Sango Ota, Sagamu, Ijebu Ode, Arepo to Magboro, Agbara, Igbesa, Ilaro etc From Berger down to Iperu is developed and cornubating. Which government support? Na government build all the houses in Ogun state? Na government build Redemption camp and Mountain of Fire city? You must be deluded to think you are the most hard working person in Nigeria. See dis guy. You are deluded. |

gidgiddy:Onitsha? What is in Onitsha? Onitsha is not as developed as Arepo - Mowe - Magboro - Ibafo axis, Sango Ota, na em you wan compare with Abeokuta? Onitsha will be a boring city to someone living in big cities in Ogun state because social life their is low. How many universities, stadiums, schools, estates, golf course, industrial zones, etc dey Onitsha? |

forgiveness:Stastisense has given you the figure. 38% of Imo urbanized, while Ekiti (if you argue that it easier to develop smaller landmass) is just about 8% urbanized. Now how do you justify that? I left out Ogun which is just about about 10.3% because we would argue 'Oh...Ogun is very big compared to Imo bla..bla ..bla'. |

gidgiddy:Are Ilesa, Abeokuta, Osogbo, Ijebu ode, Akure etc not worthy of note?. Ilesa is industrialized with brewery, nails manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, distilleries foam making, fabrication companies, agro allied companies and etc. It is wrong to say only Ibadan and Lagos are worthy of note in the west. |

Dalohad:Most built up state? Ogun state land size is 16,980.55 km2 (6,556.23 sq mi) and is 10.5% built up. More than 3 times bugger than Imo State. Imo state land size is 5,530 km2 (2,140 sq mi) and is 23.5% built up. Ogun state is more than 3 times bigger than Imo state. If we put the 23.5% built up area of Imo state into Ogun state, Ogun state will turn to forest but if we put 10.5% of Ogun state built up area into Imo state, Imo state will have no space to host Ogun state built up area. Do you understand? |
