Love800: Faposky95: Goodnewsforlife:Nigerian civil servants are not allowed to run or manage private businesses while in full-time service, except for farming, which is legally permitted. This rule is based on the 1999 Constitution (Fifth Schedule, Part I, Section 2b) and supported by the Public Service Rules (PSR). Farming is encouraged as a legitimate side hustle to support income and retirement plans. |

FIRDAUS3:The mockery started with Government building what they claim to be low cost housing for civil servants and a 2-Bedroom Bungalow is priced at N 30 million while a 3-Bedroom is priced at N 40 million and the minimum wage is N 30,000 per month while the average monthly salary of a Director in State Civil Service is between N 100K and N 200K. What cadre of civil servants are expected to afford such "low cost" housing based on their salaries? |

Civil servants are the main enablers and engine room of corruption in Nigeria. Those saying this and that is not for civil servants are grossly ignorant. |

alfredfrddy:The line “this is not for civil servants” is becoming dangerously normalized. It’s not just banter anymore — it’s social conditioning. Like someone said above, it’s now a badge of mockery for anyone living within their means. What’s worse is how it pushes people, especially young ones, toward shortcuts just to be respected. But the funny thing is, there are quiet, steady ways people (including civil servants) are already building wealth Just not loud about it. I know people who do monthly contributions into fractional real estate, things like microunits via platforms like Keble, and they’re slowly stacking up value over time. It’s not overnight G-Wagon vibes, but it’s smart and long-term. Maybe the real flex is not needing to prove anything at all just building quietly, even if it takes longer. |
