Until they start putting up disclaimer notices on all erring officers on their website, newspapers and other platforms I won't take any of these orderly trail or whatever serious.
If the above had been happening, police won't be up 10000 in total in Nigeria by now.

If you're transparent in your dealing, publish their names ,numbers and the station where they are serving, till now that Officer who shot that pupil in ibadan is unknown and except the father knows someone who can connect him to the oyo state police commissioner or Gov.Makinde himself, that case will be swept under the carpet in no time.

Those officers remit to their ogas at the station which is why their ogas are living large and those ones on the road always look poor and hazard, everyone knows this.

Pay them the 5m first, then you would have removed all excuses for corruption.

Again the notion that cops are the least paid in the world is a BIG FAT LIE

If you drag the issue further, I’ll give you a breakdown with facts that will show you horribly Nigeria treats its police officers while expecting the best from them
Politicians are stealing despite earning huge salary. So your suggestion na babablu.

Increase minimum wage to 5 million naira too, so workers won't steal.

Isn’t this the very reason why our complaints against politicians have a solid foundation?

Your suggestion is 100% valid

They didn't sack them...

On wether they pay them or not, it's a matter of debate, if everyone who is dissatisfied with their salaries and deside on criminality like these police men, Nigeria will crumble. Let there be punishment for these guys preferably sacking and trial. Also improve their wages.

The Brazen level of hypocrisy !

If you travel from Benin - PH - Calabar by Road bribe taking by both the military & police is done brazenly in the open.

Why the hypocrisy ?

If Nigerians decide to patronise google glasses en-masse half of the officers on the street will be dismissed.

There reforms should be wholistic starting from the personnel welfare and the handshake from the leadership.

They may likely not learn. Don't you know that gun and robbery are 5 and 6? How will a Nigerian policeman carrying gun not think of oppressing citizens with the gun when he is sure that nobody is seeing him?

I always tell the police to take any offence the believe i have committed to the court where it'll be decided, as the police are neither law makers nor judges.

You are indeed absolutely correct about humans being insatiable. Also, regarding the greedy nature of our politicians, you are 100% right.
However, with regards to the state of our nations police officers, we have been sinfully pathetic and criminally unfair to them as a nation. The level of injustice that our nation has visited on the police force is supposed to be a stain on our collective conscious.

Just pay a visit to a police barracks and see where and how our police officers live!
Have you asked how much our police officers get paid on retirement? Some get 25k. A commissional of police get less than 100k after retirement—serving this country for 35yrs. Police officers pay for fuel to run their official vehicles. They buy all stationeries themselves. NPF is the dregs of the Nigerian society. We have to first treat them right, then demand the best from them.
We don’t like facing truth in Nigeria.

This is daily experience of those plying PH > Owerri road, and almost all other roads in southeast. Checkpoints are also moving into local village roads too. All they do is extort money from people, even Okada riders.

The Police at Isiala Mbano stopped the extortion when ESN sent them a letter telling them to stop extorting local villagers and okada riders or get ready for attack. The letter probably came from frustrated villagers but in southeast, the fear of ESN is the beginning of wisdom grin grin

I don't evaluate an issue based on sentiment. I travel round Nigeria due to the nature of my work.

Just go on all our roads from North to South, from East to West and see how daring our police officers are in terms of extorting motorists openly without fear. It has never been this bad. Checkpoints are erected so recklessly some just 100 m apart on some major highways. No form of discipline. It's crazy

Times have changed. People have become more daring and desperate.

When I was younger, guys my age didn't buy their own luxury cars and houses. We drove our parent's car if they had one.

Now, kids even below 20 years of age want to buy Benz by any means possible.

So, what you're experiencing is not because this IG is worse than his predecessors, but that our society as a whole keeps getting worse by the day.

I don't like the reactive manner we address things in Nigeria. With the many videos we have seen, the Nigerian Police Force should have put a stop to the indiscriminate check points if truly they are sincere. I am beginning to believe they settle the ogas from the proceed of these extortion.
They are not alone they settle their Oga in office they called it returns every Oga's has is boys paying him or her daily.

The way the others still continue inspite of all the arrest make me think maybe, just maybe, nothing is being done to them... As in,when you're caught on camera, they'll just transfer you to another station

That's the only reason that makes sense for them to still continue in the act
