Today is 29th May, it's exactly 2 years since Tinubu said "Subsidy is gone" and things have never remained the same again.

I will never forget that day's experience. Imagine watching TV without expecting much from the president's inaugural speech and u suddenly hear "Subsidy is gone" !

I dropped everything I was doing, took the car to go look for fuel because of the impending fuel scarcity that will follow the speech and I found out a lot of people were already out before me sef. Most filling stations already had queues while the ones still selling started closing their gates to hoard the old stock they have in order to sell at the new price.

Imagine government wey don give person that kind headache from its first day in office. cry

Show me where you invested your 1k and got 5% return annually? You keep exposing your fake certificate.
So in your village bank, money invested daily does not accrue interest? You best stick to asking your uncles for money for your MassCom course, you never reason savings account before

Mass comm students don suffer for Ibime hand .

But Ibime’s computation is actually correct using normal compound interest formula to answer the hypothetical question for the scenario painted .

What exactly are you doing? Well if you can't read then I cant help you. 1k daily for 30years will add up to roughly 11million dollars, before you get to that 5million dollars it will take at least 13years. The person with the lump sum who invested it immediately with just a 5% yearly return would be earning 250k yearly on top of his original 5mil. Now add up 250k yearly for the same 30years plus his 5mill and tell me what he has.
Look at this ninkomboop

AI has done the compounding for you for Compound interest over 30 years

Potvalor has even brought in an extra dimension which is time value of money to account for 4% inflation rate eroding purchasing power and you are still doing village man calculations

Potvalor, this clown doesn't deserve you going into the extra dimension of time value, he can't even grasp basic compounding

But why has the logistics for the WAEC exam been so poor? I don't remember anytime in the past when kids were writing exams so late into the day.

You would keep exposing your ignorance

Do you think Banks only work out interest on 1st of Jan and give you your interest on 31st December?

Any day you throw in your £1k, it is accruing interest. If you only keep it there for one day on a 5% interest rate, it will theoretically accrue 5% divided by 365

So if you keep throwing in your $1k daily, it will be accruing interest also

Below is one of my work spreadsheets for two of our loans where I have to pay the interest payments every 6 months. There is a reason I am calculating the number of days since the last payment so I can pay the appropriate interest accrued daily over that period.

You dey dey do village man calculations "if you add $1k for 13 years bla bla bla, as if the $1k daily is not accruing interest"

I remember before it happened i was one of those arguing here that it should be delayed a bit because it would cause a lot of hardship, but many were asking for it.

The one thing i would say though, which i have also said for a number of years here, is that the country was going to get phucked either way.
Lee Kuan Yew himself would probably not be able to save this country.

Look at this Aba accountant. You mean this screenshot were your 1k was returning 5% daily returns for 30years lol. Show me were you invested 1k dolls and was getting 5% daily. The fact you haven't realized your mistake is astonishing.

You are a clown and a MassCom student. Which part of that suggests 5% is compounding daily and why did you crop out the input question

MassCom student. Which part of that suggests 5% is compounding daily and why did you crop out the input question which clearly stated 5% APR? If you had any sense of numbers you will know that 5% compounding daily for 30 years will produce billions or trillions. That's why you are a MassCom student, nothing dey your head
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Godx: 10:45am On May 29, 2025
There's no where 1k would give you 5% returns daily and he still won't stop arguing. If I have 5million cash and 1k is returning 5% on a daily, then I would also put 50k daily and earn far more. Not even wasting my time on this anymore.

Nigeria has never been gone so down below until Tinubu happened.

How did we allow a man who graduated from a school before it was established to ensure proper education for our children?

How did we allow a supposed transgender fellow to provide a route to national security?

That line should have never been crossed. We've become a proper anything goes country.

A country that can't even provide the bare minimum for its children...the level of disregard that Nigerian children have had to interface with in the past couple weeks calls for deep reflection. I've seen videos from the North, SW and SE and SS...that nobody can think to stamp their feet and say it isn't normal for that sort of thing to be happening tells how much we've been defeated.

I'm sure there'd be people that'd start defending whoever is in charge of organizing the WAEC exams, the way they did for the JAMB registrar...e no go tey.

This is not the first time this is happening and it won’t be the last time . This thing is a Nigerian problem and it has big ego of those exam bodies written all over it .

1. There was a particular year when there was NLC strike/riot during Obasanjo’s government . I can’t remember the exact year now cos I was much younger but I remember seeing students in the night pass our house late at night after writing their exams . The papers were delayed because most of the WAEC supervisors who carried the exam questions had to cover long distance from WAEC office to exam centers either by foot or look for brave bikemen to take them . There was no movement due to the strike and WAEC refused to cancel/reschedule the paper in Nigeria alone .

2. I learnt the reason for this yesterday’s issue was because the particular paper leaked and WAEC had to outsmart the students by setting a fresh set of questions which led to serious logistics issue .

Well, I experienced something similar in the university when an exam question leaked and the school had to call for the computer science department to bin the initial questions and set a fresh one . We stayed hours in the exam hall and even got tired before the fresh questions arrived . We also had to leave the school late that day .

Personally , I feel in the two scenarios and even this recent WAEC issue, the paper should just have been rescheduled for another date . Our examination bodies/authorities should learn to do away with their pride and make it a duty to take responsibility for their mess up. They shouldn’t always punish the students for their mess up but instead reschedule the exams . The students can’t leak exams without complicity of people working with the office where the exam was set .

True sha, it's very likely these things would keep happening, and the thing is exam co-ordinators at the Ward or LGA level can't decide to do what's humane and push the exam to the next day, cause what's the guarantee that you'd push the exam and your boss won't attribute it to your desire to compromise the exams...with the level of smart phone penetration that def compromises the exams sef.

I think some of the problems these exam co-ordinators have to deal with are those that are beyond their power (foundational governance issues) cause on a norm things like this, na to move questions very early hours of exam day, but with the security situation, what's the guarantee that it isn't you walking right into the arms of hoodlums.

I just wonder what they come up with as solutions to situations like this when they're having strategy meetings ahead of these exams.

Isn't it obvious that they don't really discuss issues like this/carry out scenario analysis when they plan for this exams? I mean if they do, things won't get this bad.

I think they just have people who are civil servants used to routine jobs at the helms of affairs over there. Then they also have this Nigerian nonchalant attitude that expects the students to take whatever comes their way if they want to be seen as "serious".
