I have worked in private and government establishments for over 10 years, and they never failed to deduct taxes at federal and state levels... I have my tax records as proof.

If this generating process is no sufficient, whose fault is it?!!

If the people are truly too poor or underemployed or even unemployed to pay taxes, whose fault is it?!!



What is the role of leadership in ensuring the enforcement of an efficient revenue collection process and to see that there is transparency in the process?!!

So, can any of those developed countries you guys admire survive if only 19% of the country people were paying?

You guys, you can be absive, and God knows, I hate our APC Leaders, but the reality is, we don't pay enough in tax, and anytime it is suggested, you guys will shout poverty.

So, stop complaining, and don't complain when government takes loans...cause that's all that is left.

Taxes are not paid to be used to pamper those in power. Taxes are paid to be used for provision of services and amenities to the people.. This should be very simple to understand..

The problem with arguing with folks like you is that it can be very frustrating. You're mentally messed up. You have been raised to see your traditional rulers as God-men. Essentially, you can tolerate whatsoever they or anyone in charge does wrong in power. Even when they steal..

1. How many Nigerians are employed in private and public establishments?!!

2. Are their monthly salaries not tax-deducted at federal and state levels?!!

3. Are market people and traders not taxed and levied from state to Federal?!!

4. Are importers and exporters not paying levies and duties for their goods?!!

5. Are banks not charging duties for transactions which go to the federation accounts?!!

6. Are telecommunications companies not including taxes and VAT in their services and packages?!!


Since the above are all true, how then do you say only less than 20% are paying taxes?!!

Is it only less than 20% that are in the above instances above?!!

...You people think every Nigerian is dull and myopic.

We don't pay enough in tax as a nation. And that attitude to taxes is a big part of why we borrow, and why corruptuion is a serious matter ....because all the government money spent does not come from our pocket...so no incentive to ask questions.

I am not going to argue with you. You Nigerians just want your side to win. You don't want to face hard truths.

Revenue generation is not difficult... Infact, it is the easiest thing to do... Just ask Tinubu himself.

Even churches like RCCG and Winners have mastered the art.


The biggest issue is the absence of transparency.

I brought forth verifiable and honest points of focus, but you simply chose to disregard them.

You say Nigerians are not sufficiently taxed, and I don't disagree... So, what should be the percentage deductible that would keep us from borrowing without reducing the currently impoverished citizens to further penury?!!


What should be the income versus deduction per month?!!


I like to talk in practical terms, not tout around theories like an average economics crammer.


I will give you an instance...!

Canada deducts about 10% from lower incomes, and 12 to 15% from higher earners every month or salary cycle.

At the end, every dime is accounted for to the last cent.


Can an average Nigeria do the same in Nigeria?!!
