A man has sparked controversy online after filming a flood in Texas, USA, and comparing it to flooding in Lagos, Nigeria.

Speaking in Yoruba dialect, he said, "Nigerians are always saying, ‘Lekki this, Ajah that.’ But this is Houston, Texas, America. What will you say about this now?"

He went on to explain that if such flooding occurred in Nigeria, people would be quick to criticize, saying things like, “Lekki is bad, Ajah is bad.” As he showed vehicles submerged in floodwaters, he pointed out, “These are not small cars; these are SUVs—expensive cars. Look at that BMW; even though it's a smaller car, it’s completely underwater.”

He added, “And then you want to come out shouting, ‘Hey, hey!’ Let’s just be grateful. In everything, let’s thank God.”

However, some internet users didn’t take his comments lightly and reacted strongly, with many expressing mixed opinions about his comparison.

The only thing US has going for it, is its history.

Since the world became more levelled on the basis of information, it has become clear that the US is actually lagging behind in many indices.
