Discovering the deficiency in medical and healthcare delivery system in the Oju/Obi Federal Constituency of Benue state which has resulted in poor medical attention and service delivery given to the people of the Federal Constituency, Hon. Ogewu quickly sponsored the bill seeking the establishment of Federal Medical Center, Obi,which seeks to convert the present General Hospital, Obarike Ito which is inefficient in medical service delivery, to the Federal Medical Center when the bill is finally passed and assented to.

The bill which has scaled through Second Reading when passed will be of the following benefits to the constituents:

1. Provide tertiary health/medical services delivery to the people;
2. Enhanced infrastructures for the host communities;
3. Create employment opportunities for our constituents;
4. Create more room for facility development;
5. Create room for partnership from development partners
Hon. David Ogewu has the interest of his people at heart. The liberation mission is on course!

General Hospital: Can be owned and operated by the state, private sector, or religious organizations.

It is managed by state health ministries or private boards, depending on ownership.

General hospital Provides secondary healthcare services such as maternity, surgery, internal medicine, and pediatrics.

May not have as advanced facilities or specialized services as an FMC or teaching hospital.

Federal Medical Center Provides advanced secondary and sometimes tertiary care, often with specialized departments (e.g., neurology, cardiology).

May offer training and research in addition to clinical services.

Federal Medical Center is Owned and operated by the Federal Government.

Administered by the Federal Ministry of Health

specialist hospitals focus more on a specific area of medicine or treats a particular group of diseases. Unlike general and teaching hospitals which provide a broad range of medical services, specialist hospitals concentrate their expertise, equipment, and staff on particular medical fields.

When all the roads linking the host community (Obarike) is bad. Hmmm.

That means the FMC will be only for the community.
