How come other countries globally are able to maintain an acceptable level of public cleanliness without resorting to enforced business shut down and restriction of movement. Only Rwanda practices something similar to this environmental sanitation although theirs covers more than sanitation exercise. |

Nigeria is now a place for the worst and terrible, while other African countries are becomming very sane, for example Benin Republic our neighbour beside Nigeria, has one of the lowest murder rate in the world comparable to Japan and European countries, while Nigeria has one of the highest murder rate in the world, comparable to El Salvador, even Syria is better in death rate. It is safe to walk at night in Ghana and even travel, while its not safe even in the day time in Nigeria ![]() Even animals are treated better now than people in Nigeria ![]() No wonder Kenya, has potential, its not just the resources, its the people themselves who are the potential.

In a statement earlier this month, the Governor’s Press Secretary, Fred Itua, acknowledged the absence of enabling legislation but insisted the government could not wait for lawmakers to act. “We cannot wait for legislation before taking action to protect our environment. That would be too slow,” he is reported to have said. From the mouth of the chief press Secretary to the state government. Edo people are in trouble. See as that one is kicking and slapping a pregnant woman. He has a wife at home. Edo state should grow up. The era of these touts on the road making money from people on the streets should be a thing of the past |

What do we really want in Africa, why are we so difficult? Stay at home for 2hrs and clean your environment and drainages to minimise the effect of flooding in our ecosystem,we'll complain, then when there's flood,we'll blame the govt. Lagos became dirty today because of the stoppage of monthly environmental sanitation program which was opposed and won by some set of people in the court of law.Now virtually all nooks and crannies in Lagos state is a dirty dumping site[quote author=umarnuhu1900 post=135586369] ] |

So it means a pregnant woman who is involved in a physical fight with a law enforcement agents and the agents should sit back and be over powered , Nigerians should wake up , that isn't Europe or America where you misbehave and get a lawyer , if ahe was indoors she wouldn't have been there , and if she had an emergency she would not be in a physical fight , in as much as she carried a life her conduct would have made the enforcement officers consider her ,but her misdemeanor has to be curtailed |

shegoon:How come other countries can manage to stay clean without shutting down economic activity with overzelous uniform men then taking advantage to brutalise people. What exactly is the duty of the local government of they can't take care of waste disposal, drainage maintenance and environmental cleaning in 2025? And shouldn't people be cleaning their own houses and compounds regularly, anyway! personal responsibility doesn’t need government impositions but education and a working system. All I remember from environment sanitation Saturdays during the military regime was a whole heap of gutter dirt scooped out and left at the roadside for weeks, surely there are fundamental issues that need to be looked into to improve level of cleanliness.e.g proper waste collection system, public education on hygiene etc. Until fundamental problems are addressed, no matter how many sanitation saturdays are imposed, we’ll just keep scooping dirt from one gutter to another and blaming each other while the floods rise. |
